On the basis of analysis covering the documentation of I and II Pediatric Clinics--PMA in Szczecin, encompassing the Western Pomeranian region with respect to specialist care, material concerning ...proliferative diseases of hematopoietic system for 1979-1988 was collected. They were diagnosed in children under the age of 15 years. The material was divided into disease groups and subjected to mathematical-statistical analysis with due consideration given to the following parameters. Total incidence, morbidity according to sex, character of inhabited environment, also an analysis was carried out to define the interdependence between the appearance of acute leukemias as well as lymphomas, and selected factors of the child's family milieu. Differentiation of the coefficient was disclosed in morbidity among the children in the individual provinces of the studied regions. Statistically significant dependence was revealed between disclosure of acute leukemias, lymphomas and all the proliferative diseases on the one hand, and sex, character of environment inhabited by children, on the other (boys and rural children are affected more frequently). It has been found out that there is greater predisposition for acute leukemia and lymphoma to affect children suffering more frequently from bacterial infections of respiratory tract, and relationship was shown to exist between artificial feeding of children in the first 6 months of life, and the appearance of acute leukemias.
The gynecologic a ultrasonographic examinations in 34 insulin--dependent diabetic girls aged from 1-9 y, were performed. Diabetes duration oscillated between 1-9 y. The obtained results showed that ...the dynamics of sexual maturation of this girls was independent of theirs calendar age, but was conditioned by the time of obtained sexual development. The right metabolic balance of diabetes stipulates regular course of sexual maturation.
Arteriovenous fistulae between the external jugular vein and the common carotid artery were surgically fashioned in eight sheep. The altered hemodynamics produced morphological changes similar to ...those observed in human atherosclerosis. The elastica is a major mural component and undergoes considerable structural variation during lesion development. The most significant biochemical changes in the elastin occur in the experimental vein region. These include a quantitative loss particularly in the midregion of the vein and a decrease in the concentration of up to 20% of the crosslinks (desmosine and isodesmosine). There is an increase in the cholesterol content of the elastin purified from both experimental artery and vein. The bound phospholipid was higher in the experimental artery and in the dilated experimental vein. There was a significant time-dependent loss of elastin in the stressed venous tissue.
Ba0.1Sr0.9TiO3-BaTi4O9 composite thin films with different BaTi4O9 concentrations were deposited on (100) LaAlO3 (LAO) single crystal substrates via a pulsed laser deposition (PLD) using a combined ...target configuration of Ba0.1Sr0.9TiO3 and BaTi4O9 ceramics. The Ba0.1Sr0.9TiO3-BaTi4O9 thin films showed good crystal growth with c-orientation on (100) LAO substrates, which were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD). From scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements, we could see that the crystal grains of the Ba0.1Sr0.9TiO3-BaTi4O9 thin films changed from small ordered clusters to big triangle clusters with the increase of BaTi4O9 concentration. The microwave dielectric properties of the Ba0.1Sr0.9TiO3-BaTi4O9 thin films under low temperature range from 65 to 120 K were measured at 7.7 Ghz and the results showed that all the thin films were in the paraelectric state. The dielectric constant and loss tangent of the Ba0.1Sr0.9TiO3-BaTi4O9 thin films were modified by the addition of BaTi4O9. Specifically, the loss tangent of the composite thin films was greatly decreased from 0.025 for pure Ba0.1Sr0.9TiO3 to 0.020 for the 4.7% BaTi4O9 doped Ba0.1Sr0.9TiO3, and finally to 0.010 for the 15.9% BaTi4O9 doped Ba0.1Sr0.9TiO3 sample. In 31 children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia of non B and non T type the cellular DNA amount using cytophotometric method was estimated. Parallely the computer microscopic image analysis was ...performed. These investigations were made using Morphoquant of C. Zeiss, Jena, GDR. The cells were studied before the introduction of therapy, after obtaining the first phase remission, during remission and at the relapse. DNA-diploidal type in 13 cases, aneuploidio-poliploidal in 8 cases and hipoploidal type in 13 cases. The survival time of investigated children was the largest in the case with diploidal and hyperploidal types of leukemic cells. The children with DNA-aneuploidopoliploidal type cells had the shortest survival time. Besides the estimation of the cellular DNA amount the defining of the percentage of the cells being in S phase seems to be very important. In differentiating between the normal and leukemic lymphocytes, containing the same amount of DNA as non neoplastic lymphocytes, it may be advisable to analyse the morphological picture, particularly of such parameters as chromatin compactness degree and the presence of nucleoli.
J. Applied Physics, 95(3), 1416-1419,2004. Al2O3-Ba0.5Sr0.5TiO3 (Al2O3-BST) thin films, with different Al2O3 contents,
were deposited on (100) LaAlO3 substrate by pulsed laser deposition (PLD)
...technique. The Al2O3-BST films was demosnstrated to be a suitable systems to
fabricate ferroelectric thin films with low dielectric loss and higher figure
of merit for tunable microwave devices. Pure BST thin films were also
fabricated for comparison purpose. The films' structure and morphology were
analyzed by X-ray diffractiopn and scanning electron microscopy, respectively;
nad showed that the surface roughness for the Al2O3-BST films increased with
the Al2O3 content. Apart from that, the broadening in the intensity peak in XRD
result indicating the grain size of the Al2O3-BST films reduced with the
increasing of Al2O3 dopant. We measured the dielctric properties of Al2O3-BST
films with a home-made non-destructive dual resonator method at frequency ~ 7.7
GHZ. The effect of doped Al2O3 into BST thin films significantly reduced the
dielectric constant, dielectric loss and tunability compare to pure BST thin
film. Our result shows the figure of merit (K), used to compare the films with
varied dielectric properties, increased with the Al2O3 content. Therefore
Al2O3-BST films show the potential to be exploited in tunable microwave
devices.
