ABSTRACT Objective: To identify the approach to sexually transmitted infections in the undergraduate nursing course at a federal university in southern Brazil. Method: Socio-historical research with ...a qualitative approach, and use of oral and documentary sources. Thirteen professors participated. Data collection took place between December 2018 and April 2019. Data analysis was thematic. Results: Three categories of analysis emerged: the teaching of sexually transmitted infections based on Brazilian public policies; sexually transmitted infections and their teaching strategy in an undergraduate nursing course; and the trajectory of approach to sexually transmitted infections in an undergraduate nursing course. The undergraduate course is based on public health and education policies, and the subject “Sexually Transmitted Infections” was created in the course at the end of the 1970s. The content is not mandatory, being associated with the area of public health and evidenced in the fields of practice and educational activities. Conclusion: The teaching of sexually transmitted infections has been in line with public health and education policies. It gains a greater teaching focus with the emergence of AIDS.
RESUMEN Objetivo: Identificar el abordaje del tema relativo a las infecciones de transmisión sexual del curso de grado de enfermería en una universidad federal del sur de Brasil. Método: Investigación socio histórica con abordaje cualitativo y uso de fuentes orales y documentales. Participaron 13 docentes. La colección de datos ocurrió entre diciembre de 2018 y abril de 2019. El análisis de los datos fue temático. Resultados: Surgieron tres categorías de análisis: la enseñanza de las infecciones de transmisión sexual fundamentada en las políticas públicas brasileñas; las infecciones de transmisión sexual y su estrategia de enseñanza en un curso de grado de enfermería y la trayectoria del abordaje de las infecciones de transmisión sexual en un curso de grado de enfermería. El curso está fundamentado en las políticas públicas de salud y educación, y la asignatura “Infecciones de Transmisión Sexual” fue creada en el curso al final de la década de 70. El contenido no es obligatorio, está relacionado a la salud pública y tiene más evidencia en los sectores de práctica y actividades educativas. Consideraciones Finales: La enseñanza de las infecciones de transmisión sexual ha acompañado las políticas públicas de salud y educación. Gana más destaque como asignatura con el surgimiento del VIH/SIDA.
Objetivo: conhecer como se deu o processo de criação e consolidação do Curso de Enfermagem em uma universidade do sul do Brasil, no período de 1969 a 1975. Método: pesquisa qualitativa de abordagem ...sócio histórica, com história oral temática envolvendo doze participantes. Utilizou-se análise de conteúdo temática e referencial foucaultiano. Emergiram duas categorias: o movimento para a criação do Curso de Enfermagem: antecedentes históricos e, da Implantação ao Reconhecimento do Curso de Graduação em Enfermagem: enfrentando desafios. Resultados: apontam os desafios enfrentados pelas enfermeiras no processo de criação e consolidação do Curso de Enfermagem. Garantiram conquistas, em virtude de seus saberes. A participação das enfermeiras foi essencial, dada a relevância das estratégias políticas efetivadas para transpor os desafios. Conclusão: a criação e consolidação deste curso trouxeram significativas transformações nos serviços de saúde, na assistência de enfermagem à população e incentivo e apoio a criação de novos cursos no Estado

Objetivo: evidenciar as populações-chave ao vírus da imunodeficiência humana abordadas em estudos científicos de enfermagem. Método: revisão integrativa da literatura realizada nas bibliotecas ...National Library of Medicine, National Institutes of Health, Scientific Electronic Library Online e Biblioteca Virtual de Saúde; nas bases de dados Embase, Cummulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health Literature, Scopus, Web of Science e Literatura Latino-Americana e do Caribe em Ciências da Saúde. Resultados: identificados 1.059 artigos, dos quais 18 foram incluídos. Os achados foram agrupados conforme as dimensões da vulnerabilidade (individual, social e programática). Conclusão: o papel da enfermagem diante das dimensões individuais, sociais e programáticas da vulnerabilidade, foi importante para identificar as especificidades dessas populações e para a compreensão dos aspectos que tornam estes indivíduos vulnerabilizados ao HIV/aids. Verifica-se a intervenção direta da enfermagem por meio de ações de promoção e prevenção de modo a contribuir para as boas práticas de cuidado.

ABSTRACT Objectives: to analyze theoretical conceptions of Eliot Freidson’s Sociology of Professions scoped on health and nursing professions. Methods: Eight nurses were interviewed, all involved in ...the development of the professional Council on the timeframe from 1975 to 1986. Documental resources were Laws, Ordinances, Resolutions, Reports, Meeting Minutes and Public Deeds. Information was organized as from literature and Eliot Freidson’s conceptions, and thematic content analysis was carried out. Results: the concepts authored by Eliot Freidson allowed for the development of a concept chart that portrays the nursing profession and that may be expanded for the other occupations in the health field, in consonance with professional organization in the country. Final Considerations: Eliot Freidson’s framework, in interpretation for nursing, consolidates the profession with relative autonomy, expertise by Nursing Care Systematization and credentialism by professional normalizations.
RESUMEN Objetivos: analizar las concepciones teóricas de la Sociología de las Profesiones de Eliot Freidson para el alcance de las profesiones de salud y enfermería. Métodos: estudio sociohistórico cualitativo, con fuentes orales y documentales. Se entrevistó a ocho enfermeras involucradas en el desarrollo del Consejo Profesional en el período de 1975 a 1986. Los documentales fueron Leyes, ordenanzas, resoluciones, informes, actas de reuniones y escrituras públicas. La información se organizó a partir de la literatura y las concepciones de Eliot Freidson, y se realizó un análisis de contenido temático. Resultados: los conceptos emitidos por Eliot Freidson permitieron la creación de un marco conceptual que represente a la profesión de enfermería, que podría ampliarse a otras profesiones de la salud, en línea con la organización profesional del país. Consideraciones Finales: el marco de Eliot Freidson, en interpretación de enfermería, consolida la profesión con relativa autonomía, experiencia en Sistematización de la Atención de Enfermería y credencialismo en los estándares profesionales.

Foram entrevistados oito enfermeiros envolvidos no desenvolvimento do Conselho profissional no recorte temporal de 1975 a 1986. As documentais foram Leis, Portarias, Resoluções, Relatórios, Atas de Reuniões e Escrituras Públicas. As informações foram organizadas a partir da literatura e concepções de Eliot Freidson, e realizada análise de conteúdo temática. Resultados: os conceitos emitidos por Eliot Freidson permitiram a criação de um Quadro conceitual que representa a Profissão Enfermagem, podendo ser ampliado para as demais profissões da área da Saúde, em consonância com a organização profissional no país. Considerações Finais: o referencial de Eliot Freidson, em interpretação para a Enfermagem, consolida a profissão com autonomia relativa, expertise pela Sistematização da Assistência de Enfermagem e credencialismo pelas normalizações profissionais.

To identify work process-related causes associated with nursing errors reported in newspapers.
This was a documentary and qualitative study based on the work process theory and hermeneutic analysis ...that examined 112 news articles published between 2012 and 2016 in 21 high-circulation Brazilian newspapers, organized and codified using Atlas.ti software.
The causes associated with the reported errors were associated with workforce (lack of professionals and training, turnover, work overload, lack of information, recklessness, negligence, and distraction); work instruments (similar labels or packages, storage, lack of product identification and information, and medical prescriptions); and the object of nursing work (overcrowding and specific characteristics of patient).
Analysis of the possible causes of reported errors identified the negative outcomes of nursing work, while also identifying elements of the work process that influenced these results. The findings emphasize the importance of understanding these errors so they can be avoided and of reviewing nursing work conditions to guarantee quality and safety of care.
