In this paper, we summarize the present state-of-the-art on the proof-of-principle experiment of frequency-dependent squeezing implemented through EPR entanglement for Virgo gravitational-wave ...detector and we introduce Virgo subsystem proposal for frequency-dependent squeezing, obtained with a compact apparatus and without the costs required by the infrastructure for the filter cavity.
The detection of continuous gravitational waves has to deal with the Doppler effect induced by the Earth motion with respect to the source. This frequency shift must be taken into account to recover ...the signal energy as a monochromatic peak with a high signal-to-noise ratio. The correction to be applied to the antenna output depends on the source sky direction, on the source spin and also on the spin-down rate. Since they are, in general, unknown parameters a large computational effort is necessary to correct for any possible value. A correction technique independent of the source frequency is discussed here. The method consists to anticipate or delay the antenna clock by removing or doubling one of its digital signal sample, in order to mantain the clock of the moving observer well locked to the rest one. The method, which requires just a little computational effort, appears to be very effective for "semi-targeted" searches, where the source direction is known but the emission frequency is not.

The Advanced Virgo interferometer is the upgraded version of the Virgo detector having the goal to extend by a factor 10 the observation horizon in the universe and consequently increase the ...detection rate by three orders of magnitude. Its installation is in progress and is expected to be completed in late 2015. In this proceeding we will present the scheme and the main challenging technical features of the detector and we will give an outline of the installation status and the foreseen time schedule which will bring Advanced Virgo to its full operation.

The CDF Online Silicon Vertex Tracker (SVT) reconstructs 2D tracks by linking hit positions measured by the Silicon Vertex Detector to the Central Outer Chamber tracks found by the eXtremely Fast ...Tracker (XFT). The system has been completely built and assembled and it is now being commissioned using the first CDF run II data. The precision measurement of the track impact parameter will allow triggering on B hadron decay vertices and thus investigating important areas in the B sector, like CP violation and B
s mixing. In this paper we briefly review the architecture and the tracking algorithms implemented in the SVT and we report on the performance of the system achieved in the early phase of CDF run II.
The Low Frequency Facility consists of a 1 cm Fabry-Perot cavity suspended to a single SuperAttenuator, which is the mechanical system adopted to isolate the test masses of the Virgo interferometer. ...In this paper we present the preliminary results of measurements performed with a cavity of finesse 4000 and lasting 1-2 hours in different working conditions. The analysis presented here is focused mainly on the region below 100 Hz, and uses data collected with longitudinal control bandwidth below 150 Hz. A calibration test confirmed that the collected data are in good agreement with the model of the longitudinal control loop based on the open loop measurements. In addition to this, above 2 Hz the power spectrum of the two mirrors relative displacement shows a stationary noise floor and few peaks with high mechanical quality factor. Studying these peaks in the time domain, it has been observed that the energy associated with a single peak is Boltzman distributed, whether the oscillations are not excited. The measured upper limit of the seismic noise contamination at 10 Hz is around 2 × 10−14 m/ Hz.
