Background: Postpartum haemorrhage is a single major and leading cause of maternal morbidity and mortality. PPH is the loss of more than 500 ml blood following vaginal delivery or 1000 ml blood ...following caesarean section. India has a maternal mortality ratio of 167 per 1 lakh live births. The most common cause of maternal mortality is haemorrhage which accounts for 25-30% of maternal mortality of which PPH is a significant cause. Methods: 200 patients were included in this prospective observational study and divided into two groups, group A, underwent only active management of third stage of labour and group B received intra umbilical oxytocin administration in addition to AMTSL. The maternal and neonatal outcome was observed between the two and the difference was noted. Results: Mean duration of third stage of labour of group A patients was 3.89 + or - 0.89 minutes and Mean blood loss was 386 + or - 85.30 ml and that of group B patients was 1.96 + or - 0.68 minutes and 235 + or - 72.99 ml respectively. These were found to be statistically significant among all the other parameters. Conclusions: The duration of third stage of labour and the amount of postpartum blood loss was significantly less when intra umbilical injection of oxytocin was used in addition to AMTSL. So, to conclude intra umbilical vein oxytocin injection should be used routinely in addition to AMTSL in order to prevent PPH. Keywords: PPH, Oxytocin, Third stage of labour

s: Psoriasis is a disease of systemic inflammation associated with increased cardiometabolic risk. Epicardial adipose tissue (EAT) and thoracic adipose tissue (TAT) are contributing factors for ...atherosclerosis and cardiac dysfunction. We strove to assess the longitudinal impact of the EAT and TAT on coronary and cardiac characteristics in psoriasis.
The study consisted of 301 patients with baseline coronary computed tomography angiography (CTA), of which 139 had four-year follow up scans. EAT and TAT volumes from non-contrast computed tomography scans were quantified by an automated segmentation framework. Coronary plaque characteristics and left ventricular (LV) mass were quantified by CTA.
When stratified by baseline EAT and TAT volume quartiles, a stepwise significant increase in cardiometabolic parameters was observed. EAT and TAT volumes associated with fibro-fatty burden (FFB) (TAT: ρ = 0.394, P < 0.001; EAT: ρ = 0.459, P < 0.001) in adjusted models. Only EAT had a significant four-year time-dependent association with FFB in fully adjusted models (β = 0.307 P = 0.003), whereas only TAT volume associated with myocardial injury in fully adjusted models (TAT: OR = 1.57 95 % CI = (1.00–2.60); EAT: OR = 1.46 95 % CI = (0.91–2.45). Higher quartiles of EAT and TAT had increased LV mass and developed strong correlation (TAT: ρ = 0.370, P < 0.001; EAT: ρ = 0.512, P < 0.001).
Our study is the first to explore how both EAT and TAT volumes associate with increased cardiometabolic risk profile in an inflamed psoriasis cohorts and highlight the need for further studies on its use as a potential prognostic tool for high-risk coronary plaques and cardiac dysfunction.

Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) is an imprinting genetic disorder characterized by lack of expression of genes on the paternal chromosome 15q11-q13 region. Growth hormone (GH) replacement positively ...influences stature and body composition in PWS. Our hypothesis was that early diagnosis delays onset of obesity in PWS. We studied 352 subjects with PWS, recruited from the NIH Rare Disease Clinical Research Network, to determine if age at diagnosis, ethnicity, gender, and PWS molecular class influenced the age they first become heavy, as determined by their primary care providers, and the age they first developed an increased appetite and began seeking food. The median ages that children with PWS became heavy were 10 years, 6 years and 4 years for age at diagnosis < 1 year, between 1 and 3 years, and greater than 3 years of age, respectively. The age of diagnosis and ethnicity were significant factors influencing when PWS children first became heavy (
< 0.01), however gender and the PWS molecular class had no influence. Early diagnosis delayed the onset of becoming heavy in individuals with PWS, permitting early GH and other treatment, thus reducing the risk of obesity-associated co-morbidities. Non-white individuals had an earlier onset of becoming heavy.

To find out clinical staging of OSMF and correlate it with consumption of smokeless tobacco usage related factors among subjects with oral sub mucous fibrosis in Ahmedabad city.
A cross sectional hospital-based study was conducted on 250 randomly selected clinically diagnosed OSMF subjects. The data regarding various demographic details and habit related factors was recorded in a pre-designed study proforma. The data obtained was statistically analyzed.
Among 250 OSMF subjects, 9% were having grade I, 32% were having grade II, 39% were having grade III and 20% were having grade IV OSMF. 81.6% of males and 18.4% of females were having OSMF. The youngest age when habit was initiated was around of 8 years which is alarming in nature. The lowest duration reported to develop OSMF was 6 months. Statistically significant difference was observed between gender, duration, chewing time, swallowing of tobacco juice and clinical staging of OSMF.
It is alarming that around 70% of the total subjects of OSMF were in the younger age group. The community-oriented outreach programs along with strict policy formulation and implementation should be developed to curb the usage of arecanut and smokeless tobacco derivatives.

A group with ATTR amyloidosis was compared to age-matched controls with LVH but without amyloidosis who underwent PET or SPECT MPI. Strain values were used to calculate the apical strain index (ASI), apex-to-base ratio (ABR), and ejection fraction to global strain ratio in multiple planes.
A direct comparison using Welch's t-tests reveals 6 statistically significant metrics. After regression analysis, the circumferential ASI and ABR at rest remain significantly greater in the ATTR group compared to controls.
MPI-derived strain from the circumferential plane at rest may distinguish cardiac amyloidosis from other forms of LVH. If these findings are confirmed with validation studies, routine MPI-derived strain analysis could identify patients with subclinical amyloidosis who may benefit from further testing.
Soil fertilizers have the potential to significantly increase crop yields and improve plant health by providing essential nutrients to the soil. The use of fertilizers can also help to improve soil ...structure and fertility, leading to more resilient and sustainable agricultural systems. However, overuse or improper use of fertilizers can lead to soil degradation, which can reduce soil fertility, decrease crop yields, and damage ecosystems. Thus, several attempts have been made to overcome the issues related to the drawbacks of fertilizers, including the development of an advanced fertilizer delivery system. Biopolymer aerogels show promise as an innovative solution to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of soil-fertilizer delivery systems. Further research and development in this area could lead to the widespread adoption of biopolymer aerogels in agriculture, promoting sustainable farming practices and helping to address global food-security challenges. This review discusses for the first time the potential of biopolymer-based aerogels in soil-fertilizer delivery, going through the types of soil fertilizer and the advert health and environmental effects of overuse or misuse of soil fertilizers. Different types of biopolymer-based aerogels were discussed in terms of their potential in fertilizer delivery and, finally, the review addresses the challenges and future directions of biopolymer aerogels in soil-fertilizer delivery.
A stability-indicating reverse phase high performance liquid chromatography method was developed and validated for cefixime and linezolid. The wavelength selected for quantitation was 276 nm. The ...method has been validated for linearity, accuracy, precision, robustness, limit of detection and limit of quantitation. Linearity was observed in the concentration range of 2-12 μg/ml for cefixime and 6-36 μg/ml for linezolid. For RP-HPLC, the separation was achieved by Phenomenex Luna C 18 (250×4.6 mm) 5 μm column using phosphate buffer (pH 7):methanol (60:40 v/v) as mobile phase with flow rate 1 ml/min. The retention time of cefixime and linezolid were found to be 3.127 min and 11.986 min, respectively. During force degradation, drug product was exposed to hydrolysis (acid and base hydrolysis), H 2 O 2 , thermal degradation and photo degradation. The % degradation was found to be 10 to 20% for both cefixime and linezolid in the given condition. The method specifically estimates both the drugs in presence of all the degradants generated during forced degradation study. The developed methods were simple, specific and economic, which can be used for simultaneous estimation of cefixime and linezolid in tablet dosage form.
