Abstract We report the phase-resolved spectral results of the first Galactic pulsating ultraluminous X-ray source (PULX) Swift J0243.6+6124, modeling its 2017–2018 outburst peak using data collected ...by the Hard X-ray Modulation Telescope (Insight-HXMT). The broad energy coverage of Insight-HXMT allows us to obtain a more accurate spectral continuum to reduce the coupling of broad iron line profiles with other components. We use three different continuum spectrum models but obtain similar iron line results. For the first time, we detect the pulse characteristics of the broad iron line in a PULX. The variation in the width and intensity of this iron line with σ ∼ 1.2–1.5 keV has a phase offset of about 0.25 from the pulse phase. We suggest that the uneven irradiation of the thick inner disk by the accretion column produces the modulated variation of the broad iron line. In addition, the nonpulsed narrow line is suggested to come from the outer disk region.
ABSTRACT
High time resolution and accuracy are of critical importance in the studies of timing analysis and time delay localization of gamma-ray bursts (GRBs), soft gamma-ray repeaters (SGRs) and ...pulsars. The Gravitational wave high-energy Electromagnetic Counterpart All-sky Monitor (GECAM) consisting of two micro-satellites, GECAM-A and GECAM-B, launched on 2020 December 10, is aimed at monitoring and locating X-ray and GRBs all over the sky. To achieve its scientific goals, GECAM is designed to have the highest time resolution (0.1 $\mu {\rm s}$) among all GRB detectors ever flown. Here, we make a comprehensive time calibration campaign including both on-ground and on-orbit tests to derive not only the relative time accuracy of GECAM satellites and detectors, but also the absolute time accuracy of GECAM-B. Using the on-ground calibration with a $\rm ^{22}Na$ radioactive source, we find that the relative time accuracy between GECAM-A and GECAM-B is about 0.15 $\mu {\rm s}$ (1σ). To measure the relative time accuracy between all detectors of a single GECAM satellite, cosmic-ray events detected on orbit are utilized since they could produce many secondary particles simultaneously record by multiple detectors. We find that the relative time accuracy among all detectors onboard GECAM-B is about 0.12 $\mu {\rm s}$ (1σ). Finally, we use the novel Li-CCF method to perform the absolute time calibration with Crab pulsar and SGR J1935+2154, both of which were jointly observed by GECAM-B and Fermi/GBM, and obtain that the time difference between GECAM-B and Fermi/GBM is 3.06 ± 6.04 $\mu {\rm s}$ (1σ).
Background
The study objective was to examine the correlation between regional ventilation distribution measured with electrical impedance tomography (EIT) and weaning outcomes during spontaneous ...breathing trial (SBT).
Methods
Fifteen patients received 100% automatic tube compensation (ATC) during the first and 70% during the second hour. Another 15 patients received external continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) of 5 and 7.5 cmH2O during the first and second hours, respectively. Regional ventilation distributions were monitored with EIT.
Results
Tidal volume and tidal variation of impedance correlated significantly during assist‐control ventilation and ATC in all patients (r2 = 0.80 ± 0.18, P < 0.001). Higher support levels resulted in similar ventilation distribution and tidal volume, but higher end‐expiratory lung impedance (EELI) (P < 0.05). Analysis of regional intratidal gas distribution revealed a redistribution of ventilation towards dorsal regions with lower support level in 13 of 30 patients. These patients had a higher weaning success rate (only 1 of 13 patients failed). Eight of 17 other patient failed (P < 0.05). The number of SBT days needed for weaning was significantly lower in the former group of 13 patients (13.1 ± 4.0 vs. 20.9 ± 11.2 days, P < 0.05).
Conclusions
Regional ventilation distribution patterns during inspiration were associated with weaning outcomes, and they may be used to predict the success of extubation.

MDSCs exhibited increased CXCR2 expression compared with that in peripheral blood from BC patients or healthy controls (P<0.05). Chemotaxis assay revealed that bladder cancer cell line J82 induced MDSC migration via CXCL2/MIF-CXCR2 signaling in vitro. Mechanistic studies demonstrated that J82-induced MDSC trafficking and CXCR2 expression were associated with increased phosphorylation of p38, ERK and p65. Conversely, inhibition of the phosphorylation of p38, ERK or p65 decreased J82-induced MDSC trafficking and CXCR2 expression. CXCL2/MIF-stimulated activation of the mitogen-activated protein kinase and nuclear factor kappa B pathways in MDSCs was MyD88 dependent. Overall, our results identify the CXCL2/MIF-CXCR2 axis as an important mediator in MDSC recruitment and as predictors and potential therapeutic targets in BC patients.

We performed shotgun metagenomic sequencing in stool samples of 138 COVID-19 vaccinees (37 CoronaVac and 101 BNT162b2 vaccinees) collected at baseline and 1 month after second dose of vaccination. Immune markers were measured by SARS-CoV-2 surrogate virus neutralisation test and spike receptor-binding domain IgG ELISA.

Our study has identified specific gut microbiota markers in association with improved immune response and reduced adverse events following COVID-19 vaccines. Microbiota-targeted interventions have the potential to complement effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines.
OBJECTIVES: To evaluate the prevalence of malnutrition and its impact on mortality, functional decline and cognitive impairment among elder residents in long-term care settings. DESIGNS: A ...prospective cohort study. SETTINGS: Two veteran homes in Taiwan. PARTICIPANTS: A total of 1,248 male residents aged equal or more than 65 years. MEASUREMENTS: Charlson’s comorbidity index (CCI), Minimum data set (MDS), resident assessment protocols (RAP), Activity of daily living-Hierarchy scale, Cognitive Performance Scale, MDS Social engagement scale. RESULTS: The mean age of participants is 83.1 ± 5.1 years, and the prevalence of malnutrition was 6.1%. Inadequate dietary content (57.9%) and unintentional weight loss (31.6%) account for the majority of malnutrition identified by MDS tool. Higher 18-month mortality rate (25% vs. 14.2%), higher baseline CCI (median 1 vs. 0), and higher baseline sum of RAP triggers (median 8.5 vs. 5) were noted among residents with malnutrition. Furthermore, malnutrition was shown predictive for functional decline (OR: 3.096, 95% CI: 1.715-5.587) and potential cognitive improvement (OR: 2.469, 95% CI: 1.188-5.128) among survivors after adjustment for age, body mass index and CCI. CONCLUSION: Malnutrition among elder men residing in veteran homes was associated with multimoridities and higher care complexity, and was predictive for mortality and functional decline.
Next-generation sequencing allows us to sequence reads from a microbial environment using single-cell sequencing or metagenomic sequencing technologies. However, both technologies suffer from the ...problem that sequencing depth of different regions of a genome or genomes from different species are highly uneven. Most existing genome assemblers usually have an assumption that sequencing depths are even. These assemblers fail to construct correct long contigs.
We introduce the IDBA-UD algorithm that is based on the de Bruijn graph approach for assembling reads from single-cell sequencing or metagenomic sequencing technologies with uneven sequencing depths. Several non-trivial techniques have been employed to tackle the problems. Instead of using a simple threshold, we use multiple depthrelative thresholds to remove erroneous k-mers in both low-depth and high-depth regions. The technique of local assembly with paired-end information is used to solve the branch problem of low-depth short repeat regions. To speed up the process, an error correction step is conducted to correct reads of high-depth regions that can be aligned to highconfident contigs. Comparison of the performances of IDBA-UD and existing assemblers (Velvet, Velvet-SC, SOAPdenovo and Meta-IDBA) for different datasets, shows that IDBA-UD can reconstruct longer contigs with higher accuracy.

Magmatic processes that occur during the transition from oceanic to continental subduction and collision in orogens are critical and still poorly resolved. Oceanic slab detachment in particular is ...hypothesized to mark a fundamental change in magmatism and deformation within an orogen. Here, we report on two Quaternary volcanic centers of Myanmar that may help us better understand the process of slab detachment. The Monywa volcanic rocks are composed of low‐K tholeiitic, medium‐K calk‐alkaline, and high‐K to shoshonitic basalts with arc signatures, while the Singu volcanic rocks show geochemical characteristics similar to asthenosphere‐derived magmas. These volcanic rocks have low Os concentrations but extremely high 187Os/186Osi ratios (0.1498 to 0.3824) due to minor (<4%) crustal contamination. The Monywa arc‐like rocks were generated by small degrees of partial melting of subduction‐modified asthenospheric mantle at variable depths from the spinel to garnet stability fields. Distinct from the Monywa arc‐like rocks (87Sr/86Sri = 0.7043 to 0.7047; εNdi = +2.3 to +4.7), the Singu OIB‐like rocks exhibit higher 87Sr/86Sri (0.7056 to 0.7064) and lower εNdi (+0.8 to +1.6) values. These isotopic characteristics indicate a large contribution of an isotopically enriched asthenosphere layer beneath the Burmese microplate, which possibly flowed from SE Tibet. We interpret that this short‐lived, small‐scale, and low‐degree melting Quaternary volcanism in Myanmar was triggered by its position above a slab window resulting from the tearing of the oceanic lithosphere from buoyant continental lithosphere of the Indian plate.

Most traditional fillers used in electromagnetic shielding composites require high loading, uniform distribution and complicated structures for modest property enhancement. Here, we propose a simple ...shielding system incorporating magnetic microwires M and graphene fibers G in different arrangements. Integrating both fillers in the composite resulted in superior shielding effectiveness (SE) with respect to incorporating either individual type of filler, due to improved absorption efficiency, impedance matching and polarization triggered by different arrangements of the fillers. Randomly dispersed arrays provided a maximum shielding of 6 dB for equal amount of G and M, in which polarization effects at the interface between the two regions contributed to the SE value. The highest SE of 18 dB (98.4% attenuation) was reached by the MMMGGG periodic arrays with merely 0.059 wt% filler loading enabled by the optimized arrangement and wave attenuation from the microwires dielectric/magnetic response. The normalized SE of this composite was about two to four orders of magnitude higher than that of many other shielding candidate materials. High SE, low loading, simple structure, and multifunctionality make these composites attractive for several applications. Moreover, tailoring topological and structural factors of both fillers would facilitate further SE enhancement without sacrificing the important lightweight advantage.
