In Algeria, people with disabilities often struggle with the inaccessibility of cities. These problems are related to accessibility and physical barriers in the urban environment, and have a negative ...impact on the lives of people with disabilities, who are prevented from carrying out daily tasks and from moving freely in attractive and desirable places. This paper aims to examine the correlation between the accessibility and attractiveness of public spaces for people with disabilities. It analyses both the factors influencing their itinerary choices in public spaces and the impact that the spatial and social dimensions of the urban environment may have on their daily movements. This paper’s qualitative analysis begins with an in-situ survey conducted in the city centre of Algiers; it looks at how people with disabilities use public spaces, using an analysis based on commented walks as well as interviews with a group of disabled people. The second part of the paper focuses on a description of the study case, using space syntax techniques and depthMapX software. This analysis allows us to ascertain both the level of accessibility of the Algiers public space, and the parameters influencing the mobility of people with physical disabilities. It reveals that people with disabilities lack optimal travel choices, and that their movements are determined by the physical accessibility of the space, rather than by its attractiveness and/or usefulness.
Le choix des États-Unis dans l'analyse des migrations de personnes âgées est motivé par l'existence d'importantes recherches sur les mouvements migratoires à la retraite outre-Atlantique, mais aussi ...par l'émergence et le développement de stratégies de développement économique et territorial. L'intérêt de l'observation des processus à l'œuvre porte ici sur l'émergence de l'âge perçu comme critère pertinent non seulement pour la définition de flux migratoires, mais aussi pour la création de regroupements humains et l'aménagement de lieux de vie où, ainsi rassemblés, les individus pensent mieux maîtriser leur vieillissement pour s'inscrire dans un modèle particulier de «bien vieillir».
The United States were chosen to analyze the migrations of elderly people due to the extensive research studies available on migratory movements upon retirement in the US and to the emergence and development of economic and territorial development strategies. In this case, the interest of observing the processes at work concerns the emergence of age perceived as a relevant criterion not only for the definition of migratory flows but also for the creation of human groups and development of living areas where, grouped together, individuals think that they control their ageing better to fit into a special model of «ageing well».

Le livre de Chadia Arab raconte une histoire : celle des Aït Ayad et de leurs migrations. L’histoire d’une population qui ne peut se comprendre à une échelle micro-locale, mais seulement en changeant ...d’échelle et en la replaçant dans un contexte mondialisé. L’ouvrage analyse la construction d’un espace migratoire tel qu’il se forme entre le Maroc et l’Europe, en suivant des itinéraires migratoires d’une population depuis son espace de départ, Beni Ayatt près de Beni Mellal, jusqu’à ses multiples destinations en Europe. Cette approche porte une attention particulière à la manière dont s’organise une filière migratoire, celle de la confédération tribale des Aït Ayad, population berbérophone du Moyen Atlas marocain. Elle s’intéresse à leurs mobilités dans l’espace et le temps. Il s’agit ainsi de rendre intelligible la complexité des différents champs migratoires créés par les Aït Ayad des années 1960 à aujourd’hui. Ces champs se sont structurés à des périodes historiques distinctes, et ils aboutissent à des relations spatiales différentiées. Des années 1960 aux années 1980, se constituent ainsi les champs migratoires vers la France essentiellement entre Angers, Dijon et Lunel, puis, à partir des années 1990 vers l’Italie entre Bergame, Lecco, Milan et quelques années plus tard vers l’Espagne entre Lorca, Villajoyosa, Almeria… Ces parcours sont révélateurs de nouvelles formes de migrations internationales, qu’on ne peut plus concevoir comme statiques mais au contraire prenant forme dans une société en mouvement. Les circulants, chez les Aït Ayad, ont diversifié les pôles d’arrivée. Leur espace migratoire s’est donc complexifié à travers le temps et les territoires migratoires et grâce aux circulations des individus.
The territorial structure is such that it is necessary to go through a step of diagnosis. Ageing must be apprehended in all its aspects, but the multiplicity of actors involved prevents the local ...powers from getting a comprehensive vision of the stakes and from implementing the adequate policies. The gerontopôle of "Pays de Loire" has developed an original method of diagnosis consisting in a comprehensive approach so called DATEL (diagnosis for territorial action environment and longevity). It is based on three aspects: an analysis of the geographical areas, a diagnosis shared by citizens and local councilors according to the Vancouver method, and a prospective review of the medico-social and health situation which integrates all services and forces at work and their potential demographic evolution. This DATEL aims to give local politicians the means to take well-informed decisions that will sustain the rapid demographic evolution of the ageing population and will maintain a good quality of life for our elders.
