The results of clinic and immunological examination of patients with intestinal schistosomiasis at the stage of developed infection in the natives of Guinea are presented. Polymorphism of clinical ...manifestations was accompanied by diagnostically significant changes in hematological (eosinophilia, increased erythrocyte sedimentation rates) and immunological (higher absolute count of B lymphocytes, IgM levels, amount of T suppressors, lower Tx/Tc ratio) parameters, which, together with the results of parasitological studies, are to be taken into account during the choice of treatment and control over its efficacy.
In the experiment, it was established that the use of a synthetic thread of the noncapillary type with a small diameter, when microsurgical technique was employed, provided minimal damage, full-value ...adaptation of the membranes of the organs sutured, thus facilitating primary healing of anastomosis.
A study was made of the ultrastructure of the neuro-muscular synapses in the patients with the myasthenic Lambert-Eaton syndrome. Most of the synapses displayed an increased content of synaptic ...vesicles in the axon terminals, and the anastomosing synaptic folds were increased in number and depth. Local destructive changes were found in the terminals of some synapses. The data obtained confirmed the fact that this syndrome was underlied by disorder of the transmitter release from the presynaptic structures.
