► Triazoles derivatives are good inhibitors for copper in 0.5 HCl solution. ► Polarization results explain that all inhibitors are cathodic-type inhibitors. ► EIS measurements are in good agreement ...with polarization measurements. ► Theoretical calculations provide good support to experimental results.
The inhibition effect of three triazole derivatives namely 4-amino-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3thiol (ATT), 4-amino-5-methyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3thiol (AMTT) and 4-amino-5-ethyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3thiol (AETT) have been investigated against the corrosion of copper in 0.5M HCl solution. The investigations were analyzed using potentiodynamic polarization, electrochemical impedance, weight loss methods and quantum chemical studies. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements indicate that all three examined compounds are cathodic type inhibitors. Among the studied compounds, 4-amino-5-ethyl-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3thiol exhibited the best inhibition efficiency 96.09% at 2.58mM. The adsorption of these compounds obeyed the Langmuir adsorption isotherm. The electronic properties obtained using quantum chemical approach, were correlated with the experimental results.
•Protection of mild steel in 1M HCl by SBs.•EIS plots showed the adsorptive mechanism of corrosion inhibition.•Polarization results indicate that all studied compounds are mixed-type inhibitors.•The ...SEM and EDX showed the existence of protective film of SBs on metal surface.•Theoretical calculations provide good support to experimental results.
Three Schiff’s bases namely (3-phenylallylidene) amino-5-(pyridine-4-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol (SB-1), 3-mercapto-5 (pyridine-4-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole-4-yl) imino) methyl) phenol (SB-2) and (4-nitrobenzylidene) amino)-5-(pyridine-4-yl)-4H-1,2,4-triazole-3-thiol (SB-3) were synthesized and investigated as corrosion inhibitors for mild steel (MS) in 1M HCl. SB-1 exhibited best inhibition performance (96.6 η%) at 150mgL−1. The studied inhibitors follow Langmuir adsorption isotherm. Potentiodynamic polarization data suggests mixed-mode of corrosion inhibition. The effect of molecular structure on inhibition efficiency was investigated by theoretical calculations using density function theory (DFT) methods. Surface analysis supports the formation of a protective inhibitor film on the mild steel surface.

Potentiodynamic polarization measurements showed that Pheniramine is mixed-type inhibitor. Further, theoretical calculations were carried out and relations between computed parameters and experimental inhibition efficiency were discussed.
Gum Arabic (GA) is a plant exudate, consisting of glycoproteins (proteins with carbohydrate co-factor or prosthetic group) and polysaccharides mainly consisting of galactose and arabinose. Because of ...its polymeric nature and tendency to dissolve in water, GA is widely used as anticorrosive materials, especially in the aqueous electrolytes. GA contains various electron rich polar sites through which they easily get adsorbed on metallic surface and behaves as effective anticorrosive materials. Because of its natural and biological origin, GA is regarded as one of the environmental sustainable and edible alternatives to traditional toxic corrosion inhibitors. Present review piece of writing aims to illustrate the assortment of literatures on gum Arabic as a corrosion inhibitor. Limitation of traditional organic corrosion inhibitors and advantages of using GA as an environmental sustainable alternative have also been described along with the mechanism of corrosion inhibition.

The corrosion inhibition of mild steel in 1
M HCl solution by cefotaxime sodium has been studied by Tafel polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and weight loss measurement. The ...inhibitor showed 95.8% inhibition efficiency at optimum concentration 300
ppm. Results obtained revealed that inhibition occurs through adsorption of the cefotaxime on metal surface without modifying the mechanism of corrosion process. Potentiodynamic polarization studies suggest that it is a mixed type of inhibitor. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy techniques were also used to investigate the mechanism of corrosion inhibition.

In the present time, there is enormous need for environmentally friendly and effective corrosion inhibitor for the acidizing process. During acidization 15% hydrochloric acid is used, ...which causes corrosion of N80 steel.
The present study aims at the synthesis of environmentally benign corrosion inhibitor, namely 2-amino-4-(5-hydroxy-3-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-yl)-4H-chromene-3-carbonitrile (PCP), and corrosion inhibition evaluation for N80 steel in 15% HCl. The inhibition potential of PCP was examined by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization (PDP), density functional theory (DFT), and molecular dynamics simulation (MSD). The surface morphology of N80 steel samples was characterized by atomic force microscopy (AFM), contact angle measurement, UV–vis spectroscopy, and scanning electron microscopy (SEM).
The EIS measurements disclosed that PCP inhibits corrosion via kinetic controlled process. PDP results confirmed that PCP is a mixed type inhibitor and reduces the corrosion process effectively at 400 mg/L concentration with 98.4% efficiency. The adsorption of PCP followed Langmuir isotherm. Surface analysis by SEM, AFM, contact angle measurement, and UV–vis spectroscopy supports PCP adsorption over the N80 steel surface. The DFT study explores the adsorption and reactive regions of the PCP molecules. The MSD reveals that the diffusion co-efficient of the corrosive species in inhibited solution is less as compared to uninhibited.

M HCl solution and its corrosion inhibition properties has been studied by a series of techniques, such as ...polarization, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), weight loss and quantum chemical calculation methods. The values of activation energy (

) for mild steel corrosion and various thermodynamic parameters were calculated and discussed. Potentiodynamic polarization measurements showed that all inhibitors are mixed type. The degree of surface coverage was determined by using weight loss measurements and it was found that adsorption process of studied inhibitors on mild steel surface obeys Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
The corrosion inhibition performance of pyran derivatives (AP) on N80 steel in 15% HCl was investigated by electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS), potentiodynamic polarization, weight loss, ...contact angle and scanning electron microscopy (SEM) measurements, DFT and molecular dynamic simulation. The adsorption of APs on the surface of N80 steel obeyed Langmuir isotherm. Potentiodynamic polarization study confirmed that inhibitors are mixed type with cathodic predominance. Molecular dynamic simulation was applied to search for most stable configuration and adsorption energies for the interaction of the inhibitors with Fe (110) surface. The theoretical data obtained are in most cases in agreement with experimental results.
