The search for diffuse fluxes of cosmic neutrinos is among the main objectives of high-energy neutrino astronomy. The future Mediterranean deep-sea neutrino telescope KM3NeT, due to its multi-km
3 ...instrumented volume will have unprecedented sensitivity for the observation of these fluxes. Detection of diffuse neutrino fluxes of different origins (extragalactic, from inner Galaxy and cosmogenic) in the KM3NeT neutrino telescope is discussed in this paper.
Cubic nonlinear Schrödinger type equation with specific initial-boundary conditions in the infinite domain is considered. The equation is reduced to an equivalent system of partial differential ...equations and studied in the case of solitary waves. The system is modified by introducing new functions, one of which belongs to the class of functions of negligible fifth order and vanishing at infinity exponentially. For this class of functions the system is reduced to a nonlinear elliptic equation which can be solved analytically, thereby allowing us to present nontrivial approximated solutions of nonlinear Schrödinger equation. These solutions describe a new class of symmetric solitary waves. Graphics of modulus of the corresponding wave function are constructed by using Maple.
AbstractThe HERMES results from the hard exclusive processes such as ρo and φ meson production from hydrogen and Deeply Virtual Compton Scattering (DVCS) from different targets are presented. The ...data were collected in the scattering of the 27.6 GeV longitudinally polarized lepton beam of the HERA storage ring off an internal gas target. The measurement of the longitudinal cross-section σL for exclusive production of ρo and φ mesons and DVCS related beam-spin(ALU), target-spin(AUL), and beam-charge(AC) azimuthal asymmetries in the single photon electroproduction process were found to be in agreement with theoretical predictions based on the GPD formalism.PACS: 13.60.-f – 13.60.Le – 13.88.+e – 14.20.Dh – 24.85.+p
The photomultiplier signals above a defined threshold (hits) are the main data collected from the KM3NeT neutrino telescope. The neutrino and muon events will be reconstructed from these signals. ...However, in the deep sea the dominant source of hits are the decays of
40K isotope and marine fauna bioluminescence. The selection of neutrino and muon events requires the implementation of fast and efficient data filtering algorithms for the reduction of accidental background event rates. A possible data filtering scheme for the KM3NeT neutrino telescope is discussed in the paper.

Cosmogenic neutrinos are produced during the propagation of ultra high energy cosmic rays (UHECR) through the cosmological microwave background radiation. The extragalactic origin of UHECR guarantees ...generation of high energy cosmogenic neutrinos, however, the flux depends on the currently unknown properties of UHECR, for example, the chemical composition and distribution of the sources and their evolution with redshift. Estimations of cosmogenic neutrino fluxes, which are constrained by UHECR observations, include a range of models in which a detectable signal could be produced in a very large volume high-energy neutrino telescope. In particular the favorable scenarios are based on the models with a pure proton composition. The possible event rate of cosmogenic neutrinos in the KM3NeT telescope for the different flux models is discussed in this paper.

The future neutrino telescope KM3NeT, to be built in the Mediterranean Sea, will be the largest of its kind. It will include nearly two hundred thousand photomultiplier tubes (PMT) mounted in ...multi-PMT digital optical modules (DOM). The dominant source of the PMT signals is decays of 40K and marine fauna bioluminescence. Selection of neutrino and muon events from this continuous optical background signals requires the implementation of fast and efficient triggers. Various schemes for the filtering of background data and the selection of neutrino and muon events were evaluated for the KM3NeT telescope using Monte Carlo simulations.
Z + jet production in heavy ion collisions at the LHC is proposed as a possible probe of the properties of the dense hadronic matter. pion beam was stopped inside a scintillating fiber detector made out of 12 planes with 16 pixels each, where every pixel consists of 8×8 densely packed scintillating fibers of ...500 μm diameter. The detector was irradiated for 52 h to more than 10 kGy at its center. Before and directly after the irradiation the detector had been exposed to a particle beam to compare the corresponding light output. This study was continued during the following three months using cosmic rays. No damage was found taking into account the measurement errors of 5–10%. A 9 cm deep lucite degrader became irreversibly non-transparent in the irradiation region.
