Tryptophan (TRP) is an essential amino acid that is crucial for human growth and must be obtained through a dietary source or nutritional supplements. Both, the overconsumption or deficiency induces clinical symptoms. Therefore, a sensitive and selective method for quantifying TRP in dietary products, nutritional supplements, and clinical samples is essential. In this work, we have electrodeposited phosphorous doped graphitic carbon nitride (P-gCN) for developing a TRP voltammetric sensor. Outlining the benefits of electrodeposition over drop-casting, the developed P-gCN | GCE sensor demonstrated 7.83 times more sensitivity and a negative shift of ∼0.10 V for TRP electro-oxidation compared to unmodified electrode implying its remarkable electrocatalytic activity. The sensor featured a detection-limit of 7.1 nM and showcased excellent stability, repeatability and reproducibility. The practical utility of the sensor was manifested by estimating TRP in over 12 real samples including, food products, nutritional supplements and clinical samples (urine and human blood serum).
This article investigates the effect of the MoO x hole transport layer (HTL) on the performance of a poly(9,9-dioctylfluorene-alcohol-benzothiadiazol) (F8BT) and ZnO colloidal quantum dots (CQDs) ...heterojunction-based ultraviolet-visible (UV-vis.) photodetector fabricated on indium-tin oxide (ITO) substrates. The performance of the conventional ITO/ZnO CQDs/F8BT/Ag (Device-1) structure is compared with that of the proposed ITO/ZnO CQDs/F8BT/MoO x /Ag (Device-2) structure. The MoO x HTL in the proposed device is used to enhance the hole transport and reduce the dark current by preventing electron injection from anode under reverse bias. On the other hand, the trapping of photogenerated electrons at the intrinsic defects of ZnO CQDs has been explored for enhancing the external quantum efficiency (EQE) beyond 100% by trap-assisted photomultiplication phenomenon. This letter reports a TIPS-Pentacene (TIPS-P) based ultraviolet-visible (UV-Vis) photodetector using zinc oxide (ZnO) colloidal quantum dots (CQD) (of an average size of ~2.00 nm) layer as the ...electron transport layer (ETL)-cum-UV absorption region and a MoO x layer for the hole transport layer (HTL). The overall device structure is ITO/ZnO CQDs/TIPS-P/ MoO x /Ag where indium tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass is the substrate and Ag is the anode contact of the device. ZnO CQDs and TIPS-P layers are grown by spin coating method while the MoOx layer and Ag contact electrode are grown by thermal evaporation method. Under −1 V reverse bias voltage, the photoresponse of the proposed device gives the maximum responsivity (R) of ~217.24 A/W, detectivity (D) of <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">{\sim }6.79 \times 10^{12} </tex-math></inline-formula> cmHz<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">^{1/2} </tex-math></inline-formula>/W and external quantum efficiency (EQE) of 69811.93 % at 386 nm incident light of <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">46 ~\mu \text{W} </tex-math></inline-formula>/cm 2 intensity while R~57.34 A/W, <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">D \sim 1.79 \times 10^{1} </tex-math></inline-formula> cmHz<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">^{1/2} </tex-math></inline-formula>/W and EQE ~11111.3 % were obtained at 640 nm incident light of <inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">48.8 ~\mu \text{W} </tex-math></inline-formula>/cm 2 intensity.

Urbanization, particularly in peri-urban areas, often results in critically transforming the regional land use and land cover (LULC). The increased built-up in peri-urban areas affects the regional ...accessibility of residents of urban clusters to requisite amenities and severely affects the regional environment, as observed in the case of Jammu district situated in the foothills of the Indian Himalayas. The present study is aimed at assessing the rise of urban sprawls in Jammu district over the past two decades and how the urbanization has affected the lag in the number of amenities corresponding to the urban growth based on qualitative parameters. Further, a parameterization scheme is developed to assess the amenities quality. A comparison is made with Indore, a planned smart city, to assess the status of urbanization and residential quality based on an amenity index. The study also investigates the indifferences observed in some of the climate variables in the urban and sub-urban settings of the Jammu district. The investigation is conducted through a multi-ring buffer analysis approach utilizing the land use land cover (LULC) products based on Landsat 8/7 satellite imagery of 2002, 2013, and 2021. The indifferences in the settings are analyzed using MODIS aerosol optical depth (AOD) and land surface temperature (LST) products. The analysis leads to determination of critical urban parameters including the urban area, density, and growth rate, revealing significant urbanization at 25–27 km from the city center. Significant indifferences are observed in urban and sub-urban areas indicating higher rise in LST and AOD, particularly in the recent decade. These investigations provide critical information to urban and climate solution authorities for planning and management, particularly in critically endangered areas.
The present paper describes a detailed study of the concentration-dependent photophysics of 6,6-phenyl C61 butyric acid methyl ester (PCBM) in chloroform solution with the help of steady-state and ...time-domain fluorescence measurements. The absorption pattern of PCBM shows strong absorption band in the UV region and a weak band in the visible range. The absorption profile remains unaffected by the concentration, denying any possibility of ground-state complex formation. Corresponding to this absorption profile, PCBM shows dual-structured blue (anti-Kasha emission; ∼435 nm) and red (normal emission; ∼650 nm) emission bands. The blue emission band is the charge transfer band and its intensity first increases and then decreases with concentration. The emission intensity of the red band, corresponding to emission from the monomer unit, decreases with increasing concentration. While at higher concentrations of PCBM, a new emission band around 715 nm emerges, whose intensity increases with concentration showing the possibility of being excimer emission of PCBM. The monomeric unit shows a fluorescence decay time of 3.0 ns, and the excimer decay time obtained is around 1.4 ns, while the charge transfer band shows multi-exponential fluorescence decay profile.

This article reports a p-type TIPS-pentacene and n-type colloidal ZnO quantum dots (QDs) organic/ inorganic heterojunction-based ultraviolet (UV) photodetector. The colloidal ZnO QDs of average sizes ...of ~1.77 nm are synthesized using a hot injection route. A thin film of ZnO colloidal QDs (CQDs) is first grown on an indium-doped tin oxide (ITO)-coated glass substrate using the spin coating method. The TIPS-pentacene organic thin film is then grown on the ZnO CQDs layer by the spin coating method. The photoresponse of the proposed structure is measured for monochromatic light of wavelengths in the range of 300-700 nm. Under 1-V reverse bias operation, the proposed UV-photodetector shows the maximum responsivity, detectivity, and external quantum efficiency (EQE) of ~59.15 A/W, ~<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">7.01\times 10 </tex-math></inline-formula> 13 cmHz 1/2 /W, and ~19877% respectively, at 370-nm wavelength of the incident UV light of 43-<inline-formula> <tex-math notation="LaTeX">{\mu }\text{W} </tex-math></inline-formula>/cm 2 intensity.
In this letter, organic-inorganic hybrid perovskite CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 -based heterostructure photodetector is fabricated on fluorine-doped tin oxide (FTO) substrate. The perovskite CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 and ...metal oxide ZnO are synthesized using the sol-gel chemical route. The synthesized hybrid perovskite CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 has a tetragonal phase with a crystallite size of ~39.01 nm, whereas ZnO has a wurtzite hexagonal structure with a crystallite size of ~26.47 nm. The uniform distribution of particles is found in the thin film of CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 and ZnO with an average particle size of ~50 and ~30 nm, respectively. An efficient photoluminescence band is observed at ~1.59 eV in CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 thin film measured at ambient condition and excited with light of wavelength 405 nm. The heterostructure is formed between perovskite and ZnO, which also work as an efficient electron transport layer. The heterostructure is characterized using I-V and C-V measurements that confirm the formation of the barrier between CH 3 NH 3 PbI 3 and ZnO. The photoresponsivity of ~21.8 A/W is obtained at an applied bias voltage of -1 V under the illumination of light obtained from monochromator of wavelength ~436 nm and intensity ~190 μW/cm 2 .
