Platelet-rich plasma (PRP) therapy has been considered as a promising treatment for androgenetic alopecia (AGA). The aim of the study was comparative evaluation of the clinical efficacy of ...PRP-therapy, minoxidil, and their combination in the treatment of men with AGA and to evaluate the effects of PRP on the proliferation of hair follicle (HF) cells in skin biopsy.
The study involved 69 men who were divided into 3 groups who received PRP therapy, minoxidil, and their combination. The clinical efficacy of the therapy was evaluated by the dynamics of morphometric of hairs. To assess cell proliferation antibodies to β-catenin, CD34, Ki67, and to Dkk-1 were used.
PRP treatment was more effective than minoxidil therapy (
= 0.005). Complex therapy turned out to be more effective than minoxidil monotherapy (
< 0.0001) and PRP monotherapy (
= 0.007). After applying PRP the absolute and relative values of the β-catenin and CD34 expression area increased; an increase in Ki67+ index was also significant.
PRP can be considered as a treatment option for AGA. Combined PRP and minoxidil use seems promising for the treatment of AGA. PRP increase in the proliferative activity of HF cells and improves hair morphology in patients with AGA.
Chiral molecules that are non-superimposable mirror images of each other, known as enantiomers, have identical chemical and physical properties unless they interact with another chiral entity, such ...as chiral light. Chiroptical1 eects arising from such interactions are used to detect enantiomers in mixtures and to induce enantioselective synthesis and catalysis. Chiroptical eects often arise from the interplay between light-induced electric- and magnetic-dipole transitions in a molecule and evolve on ultrafast electronic timescales. Here we use high-harmonic generation2,3 from a randomly oriented gas of molecules subjected to an intense laser eld, to probe chiral interactions on these sub-femtosecond timescales. We show that a slight disparity in the laser-driven electron dynamics in the two enantiomers is recorded and amplied by several orders of magnitude in the harmonic spectra. Our work shows that chiroptical detection can go beyond detecting chiral structure47 to resolving and controlling chiral dynamics on electronic timescales.
The review describes functional and structural features of different isoforms of prolactin receptor, mechanisms of signaling pathway activation, and molecular messengers involved in the transmission ...and termination of signal from the prolactin receptor isoforms. Changes in the ratio between prolactin receptor isoforms, key mediators of prolactin signal transduction and termination in various organs and tissues, are analyzed. Special attention is given to the role of molecular mediators and the ratio between the isoforms in normal physiological functions and pathologies. Approaches for therapeutic correction of prolactin signaling impairments are discussed.
An analytical solution for the problem of a vertical electric and magnetic dipole field in an inhomogeneous troposphere over an impedance surface for a trilinear model of a vertical refractivity ...profile is obtained. The problem is solved in the Cartesian coordinate system. The curvature of Earth is considered in the parabolic approximation. Asymptotic analysis of the characteristic equation roots is performed. It demonstrates that the roots of the horizontal branch of the spectrum of normal waves exist for any gradient of refractivity in the first two sections of a trilinear profile. Restriction to applicability of a parabolic approximation of Earth’s curvature for such problems is found.
Based on the solution of the problem 1, while applying the computer program, developed by authors, a numerical study of the spectrum of normal waves and height factor modes of horizontal and vertical ...branches of the spectrum, is executed. Features of dipole field formation for a trilinear model of a refractivity profile depending on radio wavelength, parameters of the troposphere model, and the source height are studied.
Transport safety assessment plays a huge role in theory and practice of implementation of transport management systems. It should be noted that ensuring the transport safety is inextricably linked to ...identification of potentially dangerous transport situations and their risk assessment. To better manage transport risks we propose to apply a new integrated approach which allows to take into account the source of the threat, the degree of objects' protection, kinds of threats, extent of damage in the event of dangerous situations, magnitude of the dangerous situation. This approach is anchored to systematic analysis of causes and conditions of formation of dangerous situations. Also, it provides timely forecasting of their development and consequences. Therefore, it is necessary to develop a new approach to transport risk assessment which will be able to effectively evaluate occurrence of dangerous transport situations. In this paper we present components of transport safety and provide a list of typical objects of transport infrastructure. Transport safety model and algorithm for identification of potentially dangerous transport situation is proposed. Also, we consider a new integrated approach based on transport risk assessment method. It is worth highlighting that the proposed method of transport risk assessment allows taking into consideration the uncertainty linked to the occurrence of dangerous transport situations and their conditions. The specified method can be widely used in modern geographic information systems for analysis of transport emergencies.
Abstract
In this paper, we provide an analysis of the high-resolution optical spectra of two carbon variables, V1983 Cyg and V2074 Cyg, which are presumed to be cool R Corona Borealis (RCB) stars, ...according to their photometric behaviour. The stars show irregular long-term visual light variations of relatively large amplitude, similar to those exhibited by RCB variables. Based on the comparison of our high-resolution spectra with those of various carbon stars, we conclude that both variables have spectral properties typical for cool N-type carbon stars. However, two major differences from the spectra of normal carbon stars have been noted: the presence of high-velocity (∼−60 km s−1) components in the Na i D lines in both V1983 Cyg and V2074 Cyg and the unusually strong absorption in the Hα line in the spectrum of V1983 Cyg. The nature of these peculiarities is discussed. Although, according to their photometrical behaviour as well as their infrared properties, both V1983 Cyg and V2074 Cyg are ascribed to DY Persei (DY Per) type stars, we do not find any evidence that the two variables could be cool RCB stars similar to DY Per.
