The theory of intersectionality has been broadly used in various research but we notice a persistent gap in reflecting its application to media analysis. In our study, we focus on the concept of ..."representational intersectionality" which Kimberlé Crenshaw uses to illustrate the dynamics between different discourses. Taking the example of online media reporting on same-sex partnerships in Slovenia, we analyze how power relations are reinforced when one type of media discourse fails to acknowledge the importance of other discourses. Our media discourse analysis based on Norman Fairclough demonstrates that the discourses that advocated equality between heterosexual and same-sex couples in Slovenia did not recognize the importance of specifying the different contexts of social exclusion of same-sex couples and that this non-recognition weakened their power and strengthened the discourses directed against them. The main contribution of our study is to show how the theory of intersectionality, focusing on representation and social location, can be useful within critical discourse analysis, specifically to reflect the anti-discrimination position in media reporting.
Področje intersekcijske diskriminacije v Sloveniji ni neraziskana tema, a še nobena od analiz ni v ospredje postavila vprašanja intersekcije (medijskih) reprezentacij. Članek v izhodišče postavlja ...raziskovalno vprašanje, kako diskurz medijskih tekstov na novičarskih spletnih portalih v Sloveniji naslavlja vprašanja diskriminacije in družbenega izključevanja v luči intersekcijskega pristopa. V raziskavi smo se ukvarjali z intersekcijo reprezentacij istospolno usmerjenih oseb in tujcev na štirih slovenskih informativnih spletnih portalih (RTVSLO.si, 24ur.com, SiOL.net in Nova24TV.si) v času sprejemanja področne zakonodaje, vezane na obe družbeni skupini. Na podlagi načela o »zrcaljenju« realnosti, ki temelji na predpostavki o novinarski objektivnosti, ugotavljamo, da so izbrani portali v primeru istospolno usmerjenih oseb nekritično reproducirali konflikt med nasprotnima pozicijama pro et contra, ki je marginaliziral vse poglede zunaj njega, v primeru tujcev pa je bila prisotna normalizacija in reprodukcija diskurza predstavnikov parlamentarne politike. Intersekcijska perspektiva je v diskurzu analiziranih medijskih tekstov skoraj povsem umanjkala, kar je prispevalo k šibkejši antidiskriminatorni poziciji in h krepitvi različnih artikulacij družbenega izključevanja.
The article deals with the understanding of sociality in the context of ICT use during the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic in Slovenia. Based on the relationship between ICT and sociality, we argue that physical ...proximity is no longer necessary to establish and maintain social dynamics in the modern social context. We find that most Slovenians supported the government’s measures to restrict gatherings and movements, and for the majority of the population these measures have had no negative impact on sociability. Further, the qualitative data obtained via observational netnography on Facebook show that various social dynamics took place in cyberspace. They are related to helping people overcome the hardships associated with restricting socialising in physical space, activities targeting specific social groups, and trans- ferring pre-existing activities from physical space to cyberspace.

Mnoge studije već su pokazale da korištenje informacijsko-komunikacijskih tehnologija (IKT)
ne dovodi nužno do veće usamljenosti i socijalne izolacije među ljudima. Unatoč tome, pretpostavka
da IKT ...doprinosi osjećajima usamljenosti i povezanim bolestima i dalje postoji među
nekim istraživačima i u svakodnevnom životu. Ovaj rad raspravlja o sociološkom razumijevanju
socijalnosti iz perspektive korištenja IKT-a za vrijeme pandemije COVID-19 u Sloveniji.
Rezultati online ankete provedene na slučajnom uzorku (n=454) tijekom jeseni 2020. godine
pokazali su da je unatoč vladinim mjerama, koje ograničavaju okupljanja i fizičke interakcije
pojedinaca, socijalna dinamika i dalje bila prisutna, iako pretežno putem IKT-a. Štoviše, većina
ispitanika nije iskusila veću usamljenost tijekom tog razdoblja, vjerojatno zato što su održavali
svoje socijalne kontakte u kiberprostoru. Također, otkrili smo da su ispitanici bili uključeni u
različite aktivnosti povezane s održavanjem socijalne interakcije u kiberprostoru (npr., telefonski
razgovori, aktivnosti na društvenim mrežama, video-pozivi), što im je pomoglo osjećati
se manje usamljeno. Glavni cilj rada je promišljanje o suvremenim socijalnim trendovima,
sugerirajući da blizina u fizičkom prostoru više nije preduvjet za nastanak i održavanje socijalne
dinamike među pojedincima.
