The United Nations (2021) estimated that implementing the SDGs can create US$12 trillion in business opportunities, and without the interest and persistent support of the business sector, it will be impossible to successfully achieve the SDGs by 2030. ...by aligning their strategies and practices to the SDGs, firms can make significant contributions to achieving the 2030 Agenda (Eweje et al., 2020). ...firms have a pivotal role in creating innovative solutions for a long-standing problem that requires more concerted approaches (Cordova & Celone, 2019) to accelerate technology development and diffusion and bring innovative products to the market (OECD, p. 14). PurposeThe aim of this research is to analyze the knowledge transfer process in technological innovation clusters. The problem of the study addresses how organizations can act in a network to enhance ...experiences and gains, particularly in the aspect of knowledge management.Design/methodology/approachThe study is qualitative, applied through a case study, cross-sectional and multiple sources of evidence – semistructured interviews, nonparticipant observation and analysis of documents and secondary institutional data. The case analyzed was the Technology Park of São José dos Campos, in Brazil, involving private companies, governmental organizations, universities and research institutions.FindingsThe results reinforce the arguments that the transfer of knowledge is influenced by factors, facilitators or inhibitors such as: cooperation, relationship with institutions, workforce mobility and geographical proximity, influencing the competitiveness and performance of the organizations in the cluster.Research limitations/implicationsThis study advances the knowledge management literature in network environments, especially in technological innovation clusters, systematizing and highlighting the facilitating and inhibiting dimensions of knowledge transfer.Practical implicationsThe present work has a direct dialogue with the managers and actors involved in the governance of these organizational arrangements with regard to increasing the capacity for creation and the dissemination of knowledge among organizations, educational institutions, government and companies.Originality/valueThere is a presence of aspects indicating that knowledge goes beyond borders through dynamic and collaborative structures, reinforcing the premise that clusters must be perceived as an evolutionary system, whose result of interactions leads to a superior joint capacity.
Resumo Fake news e storytelling têm sido abordados como constructos totalmente diferentes. As primeiras seriam intencionalmente e comprovadamente falsas; já o mesmo não se pode dizer do storytelling, ...cujas veracidade e autenticidade não são facilmente verificáveis. Todavia, tanto uma narrativa quanto a outra podem enganar os leitores e ambas estão inseridas em um contexto social e histórico que atua como fator regulador do processo de produção, circulação e recepção de discursos. Por isso, neste ensaio, defendemos a ideia de que, na sua essência, tanto as narrativas que compõem as fake news quanto as que formam o storytelling são duas moedas iguais, por guardarem similaridades nos processos de confecção e reprodução e, principalmente, nas suas motivações ulteriores, cujo objetivo final é a manutenção ou obtenção de capital econômico, social ou político.
Resumen Las noticias falsas y la narración se han abordado como construcciones completamente diferentes. Las primeras serían intencional y demostrablemente falsas, no se puede decir lo mismo de la segunda, cuya veracidad y autenticidad no son fácilmente comprobables. Sin embargo, ambas narrativas pueden engañar a los lectores y ambas se insertan dentro de un contexto social e histórico, que actúa como factor regulador en el proceso de producción, circulación y recepción de discursos. Por ello, en este ensayo defendemos la idea de que, en esencia, tanto las narrativas que componen las fake news como las que componen el storytelling son dos monedas iguales, pues tienen similitudes en los procesos de elaboración, reproducción y, principalmente, en sus motivaciones ulteriores, cuyo fin último es mantener u obtener capital económico, social o político.
Abstract Fake news and storytelling have been approached as completely different constructs. The former is intentionally and demonstrably false or misleading information, whereas storytelling produces a narrative with veracity and authenticity that are not easily verifiable. However, both can deceive readers and are inserted within a social and historical context that contributes to regulating discourse production, circulation, and reception. This essay advocates the idea that, in essence, fake news and storytelling narratives are two equal coins, similar in the processes of making and reproducing information and, mainly, in their goal of obtaining and maintaining economic, social, or political capital.
This work analyzes how risk management occurs in the internationalization process of Brazilian born global companies. Accordingly, we adopted the qualitative research approach, used a multiple case ...study strategy, and selected seven relevant craft breweries with national prominence. The findings highlight how risks are perceived in the internationalization process by managers and classified among commercial, intercultural, monetary and country risks. We also identified that these enterprises use different actions to mitigate risks, such as planning, market research, and building scenarios. The contributions discussed in this study are the identification of factors such as the international background of managers and the use of networks to minimize the perception of risk. Additionally, we discussed the ways in which risks are perceived and how the different mitigation strategies work. Finally, we proposed an integrated risk management model for the internationalization of born globals.
RESUMO Esta pesquisa tem como objetivo compreender em que medida ocorrem ações de gaslighting no ambiente de trabalho. Para tal, elaboramos uma pesquisa empírica, na qual visitamos 37 empresas de ...diferentes portes, no Rio de Janeiro e em São Paulo, e entrevistamos 72 trabalhadores com diversos traços psicográficos. Essas entrevistas e nossas anotações de campo foram submetidas à Análise Crítica de Discurso. Identificamos duas categorias a priori (“gaslighting racial” e “gaslighting misógino”), duas emergentes (“gaslighting LGBTQIAP+-fóbico” e “gaslighting instrumental”), e construímos a axial, denominada “gaslighting pecuniário”. O campo revelou que gaslighting ocorre em todos os tipos de empresas pesquisadas e é uma estratégia de manipulação exercida por homens brancos heterossexuais não só sobre grupos não hegemônicos, mas contra seus pares. Este estudo traz como implicações gerenciais e à teoria a discussão e reflexão sobre como práticas discriminatórias têm sido naturalizadas e marginalizadas, não só no campo de estudos, mas na cultura organizacional.
RESUMEN Esta investigación tiene como objetivo comprender hasta qué punto se producen las acciones de gaslighting en el entorno laboral. Para ello, realizamos una encuesta empírica, en la que visitamos 37 empresas de diferentes tamaños, en Río de Janeiro y São Paulo, y entrevistamos a 72 trabajadores de diferentes rasgos psicográficos. Estas entrevistas y nuestras notas de campo fueron sometidas a un análisis crítico del discurso. Identificamos dos categorías a priori, (“gaslighting racial” y “gaslighting misógino”), dos emergentes (“gaslighting LGBTQIAP + -fóbico” y “gaslighting instrumental”) y construimos la categoría axial, llamada “gaslighting pecuniario”. El campo reveló que el gaslighting ocurre en todo tipo de empresas y es una estrategia de manipulación ejercida por hombres blancos heterosexuales no solo sobre grupos no hegemónicos, sino contra de sus pares. Este estudio trae como implicaciones gerenciales y teóricas, la discusión y refexión sobre cómo las prácticas discriminatorias han sido naturalizadas y marginadas, no solo en el campo de estudios, sino en la cultura organizacional.
ABSTRACT This research aims to understand the extent to which gaslighting actions occur in the work environment. To this end, we conducted an empirical survey, in which we visited 37 companies of different sizes, in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo and interviewed 72 workers of different psychographic traits. These interviews and our field notes were subjected to Critical Discourse Analysis. We identified two categories a priori, (“racial gaslighting” and “misogynistic gaslighting”), two emerging ones (“LGBTQIAP + -phobic gaslighting” and “instrumental gaslighting”) and built the axial, called “pecuniary gaslighting”. The field revealed that gaslighting occurs in all types of companies and is a manipulation strategy exercised by heterosexual white men not only on non-hegemonic groups, but against their peers. This study brings as managerial implications and theory, the discussion and reflection on how discriminatory practices have been naturalized and marginalized, not only in the field of studies, but in the organizational culture.

PurposeThis paper aims to analyze how the internationalization process of Brazilian microbreweries takes place, especially in factors of propensity to internationalization, competition and survival ...in the national and international market.Design/methodology/approachThe authors adopted qualitative approach research, using a multiple case study strategy, analyzing seven Brazilian craft breweries. The authors developed this study through documentary research, semi-structured interviews and nonparticipant observation.FindingsThe research findings made it possible to characterize the internationalization process motivated by the background and international experience of entrepreneurs that adopted different strategies for expansion in the international market. The authors noticed that the networks developed in production partnerships, festivals and international missions represent an increase in the ease of internationalization and helps to reduce the risk perception.Research limitations/implicationsThe contributions refer to the conjecture that the born global's evolution related to the high competitiveness of the market is influenced by the international background of the founders and by the influence of the international network, overcoming institutional and market challenges in emerging countries, assuming risks associated with rapid and early entry into the international arena.Practical implicationsThe paper is potentially useful for managerial practice and policymakers by providing insights into the characteristics of entrepreneurs and companies considering their propensity to internationalize, presenting how entrepreneurs and managers can seek resources and develop their skills and capacities to manage such companies and processes of internationalization.Originality/valueThe research is presented as a complementary study to the limited number of studies examining born globals from emerging markets, also challenging the arguments of the dominant theory regarding gradual and nonlinear internationalization.
