Os projetos de reabilitação de incidência cultural visam amiúde a criação, em contexto urbano, de novas instalações, serviços, produtos e ambientes artísticos graças aos quais se torna possível à ...cidade adquirir uma singularidade diferenciadora, daí retirando, ao mesmo tempo, dividendos económicos. No entanto, no decurso desse desenvolvimento urbano sucede muitas vezes que não resulta totalmente claro qual a estratégia de reabilitação a seguir, nem quais as consequências que ela irá ter na área envolvente, na respetiva estrutura social e na comunidade local no seu conjunto. Nalguns casos é possível prever que a reabilitação poderá traduzir‑se na diminuição da heterogeneidade cultural ao nível local, além de travar processos mais amplos de revitalização sociocultural perspetivados para a cidade no seu todo. O presente artigo propõe uma visão crítica dos processos de planeamento de revitalização cultural segundo uma abordagem “de cima para baixo”. Mais concretamente, debruça‑se sobre o projeto de reabilitação da antiga Fábrica Rog de bicicletas, situada no centro da cidade de Liubliana e objeto de um plano de reabilitação com vista à sua transformação no Centro de Artes Contemporâneas. Com base nas caraterísticas sociais, económicas e arquitetónicas do meio em que o projeto concreto de reabilitação está inserido, realça‑se a importância de um planeamento cultural “de baixo para cima”, assente numa inclusão mais alargada dos diversos grupos populacionais em presença.
Cultural‑led renovation projects are often directed toward the formation of new art facilities, services, products and urban settings based on which the city could become distinctively different and ...economically profitable. However, often during the course of urban redevelopment, it is not completely clear which renovation strategy is to be used and what consequences will that have for the neighbourhood, its social structure and local community. In some cases, it is possible to speculate that renovation may lead to diminishment in cultural heterogeneity and obstruct wider socio‑cultural revitalisation processes in the city. This article offers critical insight into the planning processes for cultural revitalisation that is based on a ‘top‑down’ approach. More specifically, it examines the renovation project of a former bicycle factory (Rog) situated in the centre of Ljubljana and planned to be renovated into the Centre of Contemporary Arts. By taking into account the social, economic and architectural characteristics of the local environment in which the specific renovation project is embedded, the article stresses the importance of ‘bottom up’ cultural planning that relies on greater inclusion of various local population groups.
In the last decade, the Japanese authorities have invested considerable effort and economic resources into constructing developmental models that can help build a friendlier environment for the ...domestic creative economy. Due to Tokyo’s specific natural and sociocultural characteristics, these efforts have had mixed effects on small creative groups. Based on an analysis of spatial attraction factors for individuals from various creative occupations, this article identifies how important green or natural amenities are in comparison with other sociocultural characteristics for small creative groups. The analysis of data acquired through semi-structured interviews indicates that green amenities do not play a primary role in the spatial distribution of small creative groups, but they do play a very important secondary role in cases when creative workers balance similar spatial attraction characteristics in specific areas in Tokyo.
This study employed the gas chromatography with electron capture detection to determine residual levels and excretion patterns of two pairs of structurally diverse polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB) ...congeners (IUPAC Nos. 54, 80, 155, and 169) administered to lactating sheep by intramuscular injection. PCB levels and excretion patterns in blood, milk, and faeces were time-dependent and differed from the composition of PCB congeners administered. Lactational transfer substantially exceeded the faecal transfer. Between days 3 and 7, the amount of PCB congeners 54 and 169 excreted in milk was around 50- and 800-fold higher than the amount of these two congeners excreted via faeces. During the same period, the relative contribution of co-planar PCB congeners (80 and 169) in PCB pattern decreased in blood and increased in milk and faeces compared with non-planar PCBs (54 and 155). ow values under 6.5 reached peaks of their excretion in milk within the first three days after administration, while the super-lipophilic PCB 169 congener with log
K
ow value of over 7 has not reached the plateau until day 10, but afterwards, its level remained relatively high throughout the observation period. During the 57-day follow-up period, the excretion of PCB 80, 155, and 169 in milk was 4.5-, 14-, and 46-fold greater compared with PCB 54. Differences in levels and patterns were explained with some physico-chemical properties of individual PCB congeners, such as lipophilicity, planarity, metabolic stability, sorption/diffusion properties.

The aim of the study was to assess the dose-related effects of CBD premedication on the course of isoflurane anesthesia. ...Wistar rats were pretreated with different doses of CBD 1 h before isoflurane anesthesia. In the pretreatment, animals were given CBD at doses of 100, 20, 10, or 2 mg kg
. Before the fifth (control) anesthesia, the animals were given only mid-chain triglyceride oil, which served as a solvent in the CBD formulation. The induction time was determined, and on awakening, the time to appearance of the flexion reflex and the recovery from anesthesia were determined.
Statistical analysis showed a significantly shorter induction time if animals were pretreated with 20 mg kg
CBD. In addition, pretreatment with 100 mg kg
CBD resulted in a prolonged induction time, while on awakening, delayed appearance of reflexes and prolonged recovery from anesthesia compared to pretreatment with 20 mg kg
CBD were observed.
The results indicate that the influence of CBD on the course of isoflurane anesthesia depends on the dose and can reduce the induction time. Although this study was performed in laboratory rats, in clinical practice, these data should be considered when CBD-treated patients undergo isoflurane anesthesia.
This study aimed to compare age-dependent changes in the relative expression of genes encoding myosin heavy chain (MyHC) isoforms and selected lipid metabolism-related genes in the longissimus dorsi ...muscle of wild pigs (WPs) and domestic pigs (DPs). Muscles sampled from postnatal day one as well as three-week-old and two-year-old animals were used in quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) assays, histological evaluations of succinate dehydrogenase (SDH) activity, and intra-myofiber lipid (IMFL) assessment. Expression of the MyHC isoforms displayed the most extensive age- and breed-dependent changes within the first three postnatal weeks. The
level decreased significantly faster in the WPs than in the DPs. The relative
and
expression was significantly higher in the WPs, and
was substantially higher in the DPs. The differences in
expression corroborated the number of SDH-positive myofibers and IMFLs. Expression of the peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma coactivator 1 alpha (PGC-1α), peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma (PPARγ) and lipoprotein lipase (LPL) genes displayed only age-related variations. In summary, the evidence is provided for accelerated postnatal myofiber transformation directed towards oxidative myofibers in WPs. The SDH activity/staining intensity largely reflected the expression of MyHCs, and not genes involved in lipid uptake and utilization.
V obdobju po osamosvojitvi Slovenije je v strokovni in poljudni publicistiki s področja prostorskega načrtovanja mogoče opaziti več instrumentalnih, marketinško motiviranih prepričevalnih dejavnosti. ...Medijsko močno podprti partikularizmi so problematični predvsem z vidika izključevanja oz. zmanjševanja vpliva vsebinskega, argumentativno- substancialnega javnega razpravljanja. Osnovni namen članka je prispevati k jasnejši razgrnitvi razmerij in procesov prostorskega načrtovanja v Ljubljani. Pri tem se opiramo na kvantitativno in kvalitativno analizo besedil ter z reprezentativnimi primeri o konkretnih aktualnih mestnih načrtih pokažemo prikrite vsebine, eksplicitne in implicitne ideološke konstrukcije, interesno pogojene partikularizme in strategije prikrivanja v strokovnih in poljudnih publikacijah, ki se ukvarjajo s prostorskimi temami.
Most large multi-apartment housing estates in Ljubljana that were mainly built in the period 1960–1985 are in dire need of comprehensive physical renewal and upgrading of utilities. The ...social-political transformations and events, such as adoption of the new housing law, denationalisation, practical termination of construction of social apartments, increase in construction of profit-based housing and new “actors” in the housing market, are just some of the reasons that strongly affected the decline or slowing down of rehabilitation of large housing estates. Furthermore differences between the living quality in these estates and other (sub)urban areas are becoming evident. In the article we researched, whether slow rehabilitation and diminishment of living qualities are causing the migration of certain population groups and increasing social homogeneity as well as social instability in Ljubljana. First we analysed the changes in living qualities and potential mobility within the wider city area and then we undertook an in-depth analysis of the residential estate Savsko naselje. In conclusion we tried to present some starting points or possibilities for stopping the decline in living quality and accelerating rehabilitation of housing estates.
In the form of a review of separate phases of industrialisation and industrial urbanisation in Slovenia, the article presents the development of major transport vehicles and ensuing mobility ...patterns. The review begins with an analysis of transport modernisation from the mid nineteenth century, continues with the periods after the two World Wars and concludes with the period after independence – the post-industrial period. The benchmarks of transport modernisation in the industrial urbanisation period are the first railway lines, the electrical tramway in Ljubljana, introduction of motorised traffic and the domination of cars in urban traffic since the late sixties of the last century. In the analysis of transport modernisation we paid special attention to factors that in the industrial phase had the most profound influence on transfer from collective, public passenger transport to individual transport modes. We established that the specific pattern of industrial urbanisation in Slovenia significantly influenced the development of automobilism, which has become an undeniable element of Slovene cities. The conclusion brings a short assessment of extant links between mobility and dominant forms of transport in cities and an attempt at defining the key norms of future transport modernisation.
