One way to optimize wastewater treatment system infrastructure, its operations, monitoring, maintenance and management is through development of smart forecasting, monitoring and failure prediction ...systems using machine learning modeling. The aim of this paper was to develop a model that was able to predict a water pump failure based on the asymmetrical type of data obtained from sensors such as water levels, capacity, current and flow values. Several machine learning classification algorithms were used for predicting water pump failure. Using the classification algorithms, it was possible to make predictions of future values with a simple input of current values, as well as predicting probabilities of each sample belonging to each class. In order to build a prediction model, an asymmetrical type dataset containing the aforementioned variables was used.
Standard reference sources, used for efficiency curve calibration of detector, often contain radionuclides with complex decay schemes (such as 60Co, 88Y, 152Eu …), introducing a potential problem in ...gamma-ray spectrometry, due to the appearance of coincidence summing of detected photons, in particular at a low source-detector distance. In this paper, a set of Monte Carlo simulations of an identical experimental setup were performed in order to obtain the efficiency curve of coaxial p-type HPGe detector for energy region (0–2) MeV, with the effect of true coincidence summing and without it. Obtained efficiency curves are compared with the experimental curve after applied EFFTRAN corrections. Fairly well agreement (between simulated and experimental curves with EFFTRAN corrections (with a relative deviation of 10%) proved the reliability of EFFTRAN corrections, as well as the possibility of Monte Carlo simulations for efficiency curve determination.

Towards the end of the century, Serbia will face a dramatic increase in annual temperature between 2°C and 6°C and decrease in annual accumulated precipitation up to 12%. Recent 2014 floods in ...Serbia, with more than 30 victims, and more than 30,000 displaced people, with overall damage close to €1.5 billion, reflected those trends and the likely risks that region will face due the changing climate. Those risks may influence the development process at the local level. This paper assesses the existing priority measures in local sustainable development strategies and re-interprets their characteristics using a methodological framework for the definition of adaptation measures. It offers a new understanding of the ongoing local sustainable development approach in the potentially most vulnerable municipalities in Serbia. The study focused on following properties of developmental measures: cost-effectiveness, structural characteristics, target realm, spatial determination, time frame, climate responsiveness, and sector and budget allocation of development measures at the local level. The results of the analysis suggest that the initiation of adaptation planning should consider the improvement of the methodological framework - the introduction of inter-sectoral and cross-sectoral planning practice, cost-benefit analysis, the involvement of individual actors in planning and dynamic planning approaches.
Aims
Atrial fibrillation (AF) produces significant morbidity and mortality. The current method of permanent pacing of the right atrium (RA) may cause delayed interatrial conduction and predispose to ...AF. We hypothesized that atrial septal pacing would reduce AF compared with high RA pacing.
Methods and results
The patients were randomized into two groups. After randomization, patients received a dual-chamber rate-responsive device capable of mode-switching with advanced telemetry features. Devices were programmed in a standardized manner. To be eligible, the patients were required to have a conventional indication for a permanent pacemaker and recurrent paroxysmal AF. Group 1 was paced from high RA and Group 2 was paced from the atrial septum. Analysis of 43 patients who have completed 6 months of follow-up and 22 patients who completed 12 months of follow-up showed no significant differences in the number of mode-switching episodes or in AF burden between groups (P = NS by Mann-Whitney) although there was a trend for less AF with septal pacing. There were no differences in thresholds, sensing, or lead impedance. Lead parameters remained stable over time and there were no displacements of the electrodes after implantation. No patient experienced lead-related complications. A significant variability in AF burden was noted in this patient population.
Conclusions
Implantation of an atrial-active fixation lead on the atrial septum is safe and feasible. However, this study showed no significant difference between septal pacing and high atrial pacing, using the endpoints of AF duration and number of AF episodes.
In this work, a new method for identifying the optimal route of electric vehicles based on a hybrid model is offered. A combination of analytical hierarchical method and fuzzy dynamic programming was ...used to create the hybrid model. The model designed in this manner allows each user of an electric vehicle to decide the ideal route based on their needs. The case study was created using actual data from the city of Nis. The scenarios for two electric vehicle users for the schedule of charging stations and routes for the city of Nis with predefined values of travel time, charging time, and the attractiveness of the location are analyzed. Based on the acquired findings, all of the suggested model's advantages can be seen, which are principally reflected in bringing electric vehicle users to the forefront, i.e., harmonizing electric vehicle users' needs on the one hand and travel length and charging time at charging stations on the other.
In order to estimate the role of certain bioelements present in Aronia melanocarpa (Michx.) Elliot, commonly known as black chokeberry, in human health, this study determined the content of essential ...macro- and microelements in berries, juice and in the dried pomace. In all the analysed samples, the element with the highest content was potassium (approximately 4000 mg·kg-1), then calcium (approximately 1200 mg·kg-1), magnesium (approximately 500 mg·kg-1), and the element with the smallest content was sodium (approximately 250 mg·kg-1). Thanks to the positive effect of these macroelements on the cardiovascular, locomotor and immune systems, consumption of black chokeberry berries and black chokeberry-based products can improve the overall health. The results of this study show that, with a daily consumption of 100 g berries, all daily body needs for certain microelements can be satisfied, for example for Cr, Mn, B and Sr. The determined contents of Fe, Cu and Zn in the analysed samples show that black chokeberry berries and various black chokeberry-based products (juice, flour and dry matter) are a good source of these microelements. The results of this study showed that organic Aronia melanocarpa berries can be used as a functional food with potential therapeutic properties.
Two biologically and genetically distinct hantaviruses were isolated from blood and urine specimens collected from four Yugoslavian patients with clinically severe hemorrhagic fever with renal ...syndrome (HFRS). Viral isolates from three patients, designated strains Belgrade 1–3, were distinct from Hantaan, Seoul, Puumala, and Prospect Hill viruses as determined by plaque-reduction neutralization tests and restriction analysis of enzymatically amplified M-segment fragments. The fourth isolate, called Kraljevo, was indistinguishable from Hantaan virus. Strains Belgrade 1 and 2, like the Kraljevo strain, caused a fatal meningoencephalitis in newborn mice inoculated with 100 pfu of virus intracerebrally and intraperitoneally. Strain Belgrade 3 was much less neurovirulent, requiring 30,000 pfu of virus to cause fatal disease in mice. These data indicate that two distinct hantaviruses, one of which constitutes a new serotype, cause clinically severe HFRS in Yugoslavia.
