Abstract The objective of this study was to characterize the pollen morphology of the Grewioideae species occurring in the state of Rio de Janeiro. Pollen grains of 12 species were examined: tribe Apeibeae (Apeiba tibourbou, Corchorus hirsutus, Triumfetta althaeoides, T. grandiflora, T. obscura, T. rhomboidea) and tribe Grewieae (Luehea candicans, L. conwentzii, L. divaricata, L. grandiflora, L. ochrophylla, L. paniculata). The pollen grains were acetolysed, measured, described and illustrated under light microscopy (LM). To observe the surface and opening, pollen grains not acetolysed were analyzed in scanning electron microscope (SEM) and subsequently eletromicrographs. Were characterized pollen grains as the shape, size, opening type, the polarity and the exina constitution. The analyzed species have pollen grains medium to large, isopolar, peroblate to prolate, 3-colporate and reticulated sexine. In pollen key, most species could be separated those attributes palynological. It allows consider that species which were studied here are euripolinic, since it is possible to recognize most species by palynological characteristics. It is believed that the present study provides pollen characteristics data that may help identify the species of Grewioideae that occur in the State of Rio de Janeiro.
Abstract: The article focuses on the role of social workers in primary health care (PHC) during the covid-19 pandemic. It discusses the health crisis, questioning the ultra-neoliberal offensive and its implications for primary health care, which its care potential has been emptied, through various measures taken by the Federal Government, such as changes in the National Primary Care Policy and Previne Brasil. Research was carried out in the Annals of the IX National Congress of Social Service in Health, highlighting works on PHC. An analysis was developed based on dialectical-historical-materialism, considering historicity, mediations and contradictions. Challenges to professional performance were identified, such as the use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), teleworking, and the precariousness of health policy. Among the action strategies used, the following stand out: educational actions, articulation with the social assistance network, among others. It is considered that the denial of rights as a governmental method distances the emancipatory horizon from the ethical-political project of the profession.
Summary
A systematic review with meta‐analysis (MA) was conducted to synthesize the effectiveness of nutrition intervention strategies for managing overweight and obesity in the adult population ...attending primary health care. Relevant articles were searched in the PubMed, Embase, Web of Science, Cochrane and LILACS databases from inception to January 2020. Seventy studies were identified: 45 randomized controlled trials (RCTs) and 25 uncontrolled before‐after studies (UBAs). The MA of nutritional intervention revealed a reduced average estimate of the effect on weight in RCTs (weighted mean differences WMD = −1.80 kg, 95% confidence interval CI, −2.40 to −1.19), BMI (WMD = −0.80 kg/m2, 95% CI, −1.11 to −0.49), and WC (WMD = −2.28 cm, 95% CI, −3.06 to −1.49); and for UBAs showed reductions in weight (WMD = −4.17 kg; 95% CI, −5.18 to −1.70), BMI (WMD = −1.26 kg/m2; 95% CI, −1.81 to −0.72) and (WMD = −2.90 cm; 95%CI, −4.21 to −1.59). There was no association between treatment effect and follow‐up for both designs. Nutritional interventions alone yielded a higher but nonsignificant average reduction on weight when compared with combined components intervention. Interventions delivered through individual or group sessions showed a similar positive effect on weight decrease. The dietary prescription approach yielded a greater effect on weight loss than did the behavioural approaches but only in UBA studies.

Th9 cells orchestrate allergic lung inflammation by promoting recruitment and activation of eosinophils and mast cells, and by stimulating epithelial mucus production, which is known to be mainly ...dependent on IL-9. These cells share developmental pathways with induced regulatory T cells that may determine the generation of one over the other subset. In fact, the FOXP3 transcription factor has been shown to bind
locus and repress IL-9 production. The microbiota-derived short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) butyrate and propionate have been described as FOXP3 inducers and are known to have anti-inflammatory properties. While SCFAs attenuate lung inflammation by inducing regulatory T cells and suppressing Th2 responses, their effects on Th9 cells have not been addressed yet. Therefore, we hypothesized that SCFAs would have a protective role in lung inflammation by negatively modulating differentiation and function of Th9 cells. Our results demonstrated that butyrate is more effective than propionate in promoting FOXP3 expression and IL-9 repression. In addition, propionate was found to negatively impact
differentiation of IL-13-expressing T cells. Butyrate treatment attenuated lung inflammation and mucus production in OVA-challenged mice, which presented lower frequency of lung-infiltrated Th9 cells and eosinophils. Both Th9 cell adoptive transfer and IL-9 treatment restored lung inflammation in butyrate-treated OVA-challenged mice, indicating that the anti-inflammatory effects of butyrate may rely on suppressing Th9-mediated immune responses.
The family Arecaceae is distributed throughout tropical and subtropical regions of the world. Among the five subfamilies, Arecoideae is the most species-rich and still contains some ambiguous ...inter-generic relationships, such as those within subtribes Attaleinae and Bactridineae. The hypervariable regions of plastid genomes (plastomes) are interesting tools to clarify unresolved phylogenetic relationships. We sequenced and characterized the plastome of Bactris gasipaes (Bactridinae) and compared it with eight species from the three Cocoseae sub-tribes (Attaleinae, Bactridinae, and Elaeidinae) to perform comparative analysis and to identify hypervariable regions. The Bactris gasipaes plastome has 156,646 bp, with 113 unique genes. Among them, four genes have an alternative start codon (cemA, rps19, rpl2, and ndhD). Plastomes are highly conserved within tribe Cocoseae: 97.3% identity, length variation of ~2 kb, and a single ~4.5 kb inversion in Astrocaryum plastomes. The LSC/IR and IR/SSC junctions vary among the subtribes: in Bactridinae and Elaeidinae the rps19 gene is completely contained in the IR region; in the subtribe Attaleinae the rps19 gene is only partially contained in the IRs. The hypervariable regions selected according to sequence variation (SV%) and frequency of parsimony informative sites (PIS%) revealed plastome regions with great potential for molecular analysis. The ten regions with greatest SV% showed higher variation than the plastid molecular markers commonly used for phylogenetic analysis in palms. The phylogenetic trees based on the plastomes and the hypervariable regions (SV%) datasets had well-resolved relationships, with consistent topologies within tribe Cocoseae, and confirm the monophyly of the subtribes Bactridinae and Attaleinae.
The consumer's interest in ready-to-eat, fast-ready, nutritious and fresh foods is a major challenge for the food industry. Thus, studies on new sanitization methods are relevant. The effect of ...Sodium Hypochlorite (SH), Benzalkonium Chloride (BC), and Sodium Dichloroisocyanurate (SD) isolated or combined with Ultrasound (US) in purple cabbage quality over 7 days of storage at 8 ± 1 °C was evaluated. The natural microbiota (mesophilic aerobic bacteria, lactic acid bacteria and coliforms), intentionally inoculated Salmonella Typhimurium, physicochemical quality (anthocyanins, pH, total titratable acidity, instrumental color and mass loss) and sensorial quality (multiple comparison test and visual sensory acceptance) were analyzed. The best treatments for natural microbiota reduction were BC and US + BC, which in general reduced between 1.9 and 3.2 log cfu/g. US improved (p < .05) the effect of SD reducing almost 4 log cycles in the population of S. Typhimurium adhered to cabbage. The treatments with benzalkonium chloride resulted in important physicochemical changes in cabbage. The treatments SD and US + SD did not alter the physicochemical and sensorial characteristics of purple cabbage. Therefore, ultrasound combined with sodium dichloroisocyanurate is a promising alternative for the reduction of microbiological contaminants of purple cabbage without physicochemical, sensory and anthocyanin content loss.
•Ultrasound improved the reduction of Salmonella by sodium dichloroisocyanurate.•Sodium dichloroisocyanurate combined with ultrasound not alter sensory attributes.•Ultrasound causes physical damage to microbial cells.•Benzalkonium chloride altered physicochemical characteristics of purple cabbage.
