DELPHI results are presented on the inclusive production of two (KKπ)0 states in the mass region 1.2–1.6 GeV/c2 in hadronic Z decays at LEP I. The measured masses (widths) are 1274±6 MeV/c2 ...(29±12 MeV/c2) and 1426±6 MeV/c2 (51±14 MeV/c2), respectively. A partial-wave analysis of the (KKπ)0 system shows that the first peak is consistent with the IG(JPC)=0+(1++)/(0−+)a0(980)π and the second with the IG(JPC)=0+(1++)K∗(892)K+c.c. assignments. The total hadronic production rates per hadronic Z decay are (0.165±0.051) and (0.056±0.012), respectively. These measurements are consistent with the two states being the f1(1285) and f1(1420) mesons.
Measurements of the Xi- and anti-Xi+ masses, mass differences, lifetimes and lifetime differences are presented. The anti-Xi+ sample used is much larger than those used previously for such ...measurements. In addition, the Xi production rates in Z -> b anti-b and Z -> q anti-q events are compared and the position xi* of the maximum of the xi distribution in Z -> q anti-q events is measured.
Neutral Higgs bosons of the Standard Model (SM) and the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM) were searched for in the data collected in 1999 by the DELPHI experiment at centre-of-mass ...energies between 191.6 and 201.7 GeV with a total integrated luminosity of 228 pb(-1). These analyses, in combination with our results at lower energies, set 95% confidence level lower mass bounds on the Standard Model Higgs boson (107.3 GeV/c(2)) and on the lightest neutral scalar (85.9 GeV/c(2)) and neutral pseudoscalar (86.5 GeV/c(2)) Higgs bosons in representative scans of the MSSM parameter space. An extended scan of the MSSM parameter space was also performed to test the robustness of these limits.

The tau lepton lifetime has been measured with the \({\rm e}^ + {\rm e}^- \rightarrow {\rm\tau}^ + {\rm\tau}^-\) events collected by the DELPHI detector at LEP in the years 1991-1995. Three different ...methods have been exploited, using both one-prong and three-prong \(\tau\) decay channels. Two measurements have been made using events in which both taus decay to a single charged particle. Combining these measurements gave \(\tau_\tau \mbox{(1 prong)} = 291.8\pm 2.3_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 1.5_{\mathrm{sys}} \mathrm{fs}\). A third measurement using taus which decayed to three charged particles yielded \(\tau_\tau \mbox{(3 prong)} = 288.6\pm 2.4_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 1.3_{\mathrm{sys}} \mathrm{fs}. \) These were combined with previous DELPHI results to measure the tau lifetime, using the full LEP1 data sample, to be \(\tau_\tau = 290.9\pm 1.4_{\mathrm{stat}} \pm 1.0_{\mathrm{sys}} \mathrm{fs}\).

Double-tagged interactions of photons with virtualities Q(2) between 10 GeV2 and 200 GeV2 are studied with the data collected by DELPHI at LEPII from 1998 to 2000, corresponding to an integrated ...luminosity of 550 pb(-1). The gamma*gamma* -> mu(+)mu(-) data agree with QED predictions. The cross-section of the reaction gamma*gamma* -> hadrons is measured and compared to the LO and NLO BFKL calculations.
Soft photons inside hadronic jets converted in front of the DELPHI main tracker (TPC) in events of qq̄ disintegrations of the Z0 were studied in the kinematic range 0.2<Eγ<1 GeV and transverse ...momentum with respect to the closest jet direction pT<80 MeV/c. A clear excess of photons in the experimental data as compared to the Monte Carlo predictions is observed. This excess (uncorrected for the photon detection efficiency) is (1.17±0.06±0.27)×10-3 γ/jet in the specified kinematic region, while the expected level of the inner hadronic bremsstrahlung (which is not included in the Monte Carlo) is (0.340±0.001±0.038)×10-3 γ/jet. The ratio of the excess to the predicted bremsstrahlung rate is then (3.4±0.2±0.8), which is similar in strength to the anomalous soft photon signal observed in fixed target experiments with hadronic beams.

The four LEP collaborations, ALEPH, DELPHI, L3 and OPAL, have searched for the neutral Higgs bosons which are predicted by the Minimal Supersymmetric standard model (MSSM). The data of the four ...collaborations are statistically combined and examined for their consistency with the background hypothesis and with a possible Higgs boson signal. The combined LEP data show no significant excess of events which would indicate the production of Higgs bosons. The search results are used to set upper bounds on the cross-sections of various Higgs-like event topologies. The results are interpreted within the MSSM in a number of “benchmark” models, including CP-conserving and CP-violating scenarios. These interpretations lead in all cases to large exclusions in the MSSM parameter space. Absolute limits are set on the parameter cosβ and, in some scenarios, on the masses of neutral Higgs bosons.
Measurements of the trilinear gauge boson couplings WWγ and WWZ are presented from data taken by DELPHI in 1997 at an energy of 183 GeV. From a study of the reactions e+e−→W+W−, e+e−→Weν and ...e+e−→ννγ, values are obtained for Δg1Z and Δκγ, the differences of the WWZ charge coupling and of the WWγ dipole couplings from their Standard Model values, and for λγ, the WWγ quadrupole coupling. The observations are consistent with the predictions of the Standard Model.
A search for single top production (e+e−→tc̄) via flavour changing neutral currents (FCNC) was performed using the data taken by the DELPHI detector at LEP2. The data analyzed have been accumulated ...at center-of-mass energies ranging from 189 to 208 GeV. Limits at 95% confidence level were obtained on the anomalous coupling parameters κγ and κZ.
