Based on the upper Soča River basin, the article deals with the problem of exploitation of valuable natural features for tourist and recreational purposes. The goal was to propose a model of ...recreational use of a selected section of the Soča River, to put forward a proposal of legal framework for managing the selected area and work out a management plan for recreational purposes; thus the most burdened area of the Soča River during summer months was chosen, i.e. a 9 km reach of the Soča (between Log Čezsoški and Trnovo ob Soči), and accordingly a feasible marketing proposal, control proposal and spatial planning proposal were given in order to reduce the negative effects on the environment. The chosen methodology combines knowledge and practice from different fields, having in mind that this kind of problem solving should be carried out in an interdisciplinary connection of expert knowledge. Our basic theoretical premise has been environmental protection with an objective to preserve space as a value everywhere and in all its forms. The purpose of environmental protection is to encourage and direct such spatial development that provides a long-term basis for human health, well-being and quality of life as well as maintaining biotic diversity. This enables us to connect space with all its parts and features, sport recreation and tourism, thus achieving quality of life of local inhabitants, well-being of guests, protection of the natural environment, economic development, creation of new work places and income.
Flood frequency analysis can be made by using two types of flood peak series, i.e. the annual maximum (AM) and peaks-over-threshold (POT) series. This study presents a comparison of the results of ...both methods for data from the Litija 1 gauging station on the Sava River in Slovenia. Six commonly used distribution functions and three different parameter estimation techniques were considered in the AM analyses. The results showed a better performance for the method of L-moments (ML) when compared with the conventional moments and maximum likelihood estimation. The combination of the ML and the log-Pearson type 3 distribution gave the best results of all the considered AM cases. The POT method gave better results than the AM method. The binomial distribution did not offer any noticeable improvement over the Poisson distribution for modelling the annual number of exceedences above the threshold. Editor D. The variability of hydrologically induced mobilization of nitrate during sequences of hydrological events in different seasons was studied through high-frequency measurements of streamwater nitrate ...concentrations accompanied by a detailed hydrometeorological monitoring system. The study was carried out in 2006, within the 42
km
2 forested Padež watershed in the southwestern part of Slovenia, which is characterized by distinctive flushing, an almost torrential hydrological regime influenced by impermeable flysch geological settings. More than 15 recorded hydrographs which, in the hydrological and biogeochemical sense, differed substantially, disclosed a highly variable but at the same time a strong linkage between hydrological and biogeochemical controls of nitrate exports from the spatial perspective of a watershed. During most of the hydrographs, with the exception of early spring rainfall events, a positive relationship between the nitrate concentration and discharge was observed with peak nitrate concentrations having a time delay in the order of a few hours after the hydrograph peaks. Peak nitrate concentrations in periods of rainfall events span from 3.5
mg/l-N in late spring to 14
mg/l-N in the case of the autumn hydrograph. However, the dilution effect as a consequence of high event water contributions was observed in certain events. The role of specific hydrological events on the nitrate mobilization proved to be important as the size of the accumulated nitrate pool available for mobilization was large throughout most of the hydrographs. The biogeochemical environment of the forest soils presumably drastically alters the size of the available nitrate pool at the studied watershed and, together with the specific hydrological conditions, shifts the watershed from the flush-limited state in the late spring, summer and autumn to the source-limited state in winter and early spring.
Floods are one of the most devastating natural disasters that can cause large economic damage and endanger human lives. Flood forecasting is one of the flood risk mitigation measures serving to ...protect human lives and social estate. The Danube River Basin (DRB) is the world's most international river basin, flowing through the territory of 19 countries, covering more than 800,000 km2. The frequency of floods in the DRB increased in the last decades, urging the need for a more effective and harmonized regional and cross‐border cooperation in the field of flood forecasting. Reliable and comprehensive hydrologic data are the basis of flood forecasting. This paper provides an overview of the national flood forecasting systems in the DRB. Detailed information about meteorological and hydrological measurements, flood modelling, forecasting, and flood warnings is provided for 12 countries that cover almost 95% of the total DRB area. Notably, significant differences exist among the countries in terms of the measuring network density, the models used as well as forecasting and warnings methodology. These differences can be attributed to the geographical and climatological setting, political situation, historical forecasting development, etc. It can be seen that there is still much room left for improvements of measurement networks (e.g., density, measured parameters) and models used that could be improved to enhance the flood forecasting in the DRB.
Leta 2013 smo v pritokih Ljubljanice Podlipščici, Gradaščici in Horjulščici z enkratnim izlovom raziskovali vrstno sestavo in maso rib in piškurjev. V Podlipščici smo na dveh lokacijah popisali 13 ...vrst, ugotovili povprečno maso 329,14 kg/ha in zabeležili 10450 osebkov/ha. V Gradaščici smo, prav tako na dveh lokacijah, popisali 16 vrst, ugotovili maso 180,82 kg/ha in zabeležili 2840 osebkov/ha. V Horjulščici smo popisali 18 vrst, ugotovili maso 756,94 kg/ha in zabeležili 9238 osebkov/ha.
By using the M5 machine learning method and analysis of the recorded recession streamflow data, we modelled the streamflow recession coefficient k as a function of the flow rate at which the 7-day ...low flow forecast is made and the decrease in the flow rate from the previous day. Low flow forecasting models for seven of the Slovenian tributaries of the Sava River were developed and verification of the results showed improved accuracy of the models compared to when using a single-valued recession coefficient. From the structure of the models, we can also learn that the degree of the flow rate change in the last 24 hours can tell us more about the streamflow recession dynamics in the next seven days than the flow rate at the time when the forecast is made.
