Provider: Czech digital library/Česká digitální knihovna - Institution: Academy of Sciences Library/Knihovna Akademie věd ČR - Data provided by Europeana Collections- Období okupace Československa ...znamenalo mohutný útlum české vědy vyvolaný především zavřením vysokých škol a nacistickou perzekucí mnohých badatelů. Nakonec představitelé nové komunistické moci ČAVU i další tradiční instituce české vědy zrušili a vybudovali především na přírodní a technické vědy orientovanou Československou akademii věd (ČSAV), která se hlásila jen k části tradic ČAVU a Královské české společnosti nauk.- Martin Franc.- The occupation of Czechoslovakia resulted in the enormous suppression of Czech science, primarily due to the closure of Universities and the Nazi persecution of many researchers. The Czech Academy of Sciences and Arts operated throughout this period, but also came up against serious problems and paralysis of its activities. After the end of the war, pressure mounted sharply to transform it fundamentally into a centralized Academy of Sciences. Eventually the representatives of the new communist power closed down CASA and other traditional Czech research institutions and created a Czechoslovak Academy of Sciences, primarily focusing on natural and technical sciences, and espousing only some of the traditions of CASA and the Royal Bohemian Society of Sciences.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication. Provider: Czech digital library/Česká digitální knihovna - Institution: Academy of Sciences Library/Knihovna Akademie věd ČR - Data provided by Europeana Collections- Po vzniku Československa se ČAVU ...úporně snažila zbavit své pověsti konzervativní a silně prohabsburské instituce. Naopak botanik a mykolog Josef Velenovský 11. I když například bádání o českém jazyce nebo umělecká činnost byly podporovány výrazně vyššími sumami, můžeme konstatovat, že ani vědy o živé přírodě nebyly v rámci ČAVU na počátku Československa popelkou.- Martin Franc.- After the creation of Czechoslovakia, CASA tried hard to lose its reputation as a conservative and strongly pro-Habsburg institution, but it did not undertake any fundamental reform and the importance of the growth in the natural and technical sciences was not reflected in its structure. Hence the natural and technical sciences remained confined to Class Two at CASA, in which the life sciences were represented at the end of 1918 by Bohumil Němec and in particular the pupils of Antonín Frič -- František Bayer, Alois Mrázek, František Klapálek and Václav Vávra. On the other hand botanist and mycologist Josef Velenovský stepped down from CASA on 11th October 1918 and another prominent botanist Karel Domin was only elected as a corresponding member in 1919. In 1918-1919 other life scientists received grants or other support for their research, e.g. as well as the aforementioned Karel Domin, Zdeněk Frankenberger, hippologist František Bílek, botanist František Nábělek and zoologist Jan Zavřel. Although research into the Czech language and artistic activities was supported by substantially larger sums of money, the life sciences cannot be said to have been cinderellas at CASA in the early days of Czechoslovakia.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication. Provider: Czech digital library/Česká digitální knihovna - Institution: Academy of Sciences Library/Knihovna Akademie věd ČR - Data provided by Europeana Collections- Ve druhé polovině 19. století se ...jedním z dokladů rozvoje české vědy stali vznik národní akademie věd a umění v roce 1890, který byl umožněn velkorysým mecenášským příspěvkem stavitele a architekta Josefa Hlávky. Mezi prvními členy České akademie císaře Františka Josefa pro vědy, slovesnost a umění jmenovanými přímo císařem najdeme jediného představitele věd o živé přírodě - žáka Jana Evangelisty Purkyně, botanika Ladislava Josefa Čelakovského. Prvního slavnostního zasedání akademie, které se konalo s velkou pompou v květnu 1891, se však mohli zúčastnit i další přírodovědci zvolení v průběhu prvního roku existence Akademie věd, např. zoolog a paleontolog Antonín Frič, organický chemik Bohuslav Raýman nebo botanik Josef Velenovský.- Martin Franc.- In the second half of the 19th century, one of the proofs of the development of Czech science came to be the creation of the National Academy of Sciences and Arts in 1890, made possible by a generous contribution of the builder and architect Josef Hlávka. Among the first members of the Emperor Franz Joseph Czech Academy of Sciences, Letters and Arts appointed directly by the Emperor was the single representative of the life sciences - a pupil of Jan Evangelista Purkyně, botanist Ladislav Josef Čelakovský. However, the first ceremonial session of the Academy of Sciences in May 1891 was attended by other life sciences specialists elected during 1890, e.g. zoologist and paleontologist Antonín Frič, organic chemist Bohuslav Raýman and botanist Josef Velenovský.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication. Zjistili jsme, že všechny osobnosti oboru (L. J. Čelakovský, J. Velenovský, B. Němec, K. Domin, J. Podpěra) publikovali v češtině své zásadní příspěvky v uváděných časopisech. Ty se staly významným nositelem národní vzdělanosti příslušné vědní oblasti, jak odpovídá i intencím zakladatelů České akademie.- Jan Krekule.- The paper deals with a survey of 27 volumes (1892-1918) of Rozpravy and Věstník, the two main journals of the Czech Academy at that time. Concerning botany, the leading botanists and physiologists (L. J. Čelakovský, J. Velenovský, B. Němec, K. Domin, J. Podpěra) published their important contributions (in Czech) in both these journals, thus fulfilling the plan of the Academy founders to promote national education.- All metadata published by Europeana are available free of restriction under the Creative Commons CC0 1.0 Universal Public Domain Dedication.
