In the present methodology, the frame of reference is defined at the solver level by a simple user input avoiding the use of mesh interface to handle the intersections between frames of reference. The calculations were made for both out-of-ground-effect (OGE) and in-ground-effect (IGE) cases and compared with experimental data in terms of pressure distribution, tip-vortex trajectory, vorticity contours and integrated thrust and torque. The predictions were obtained for several ground distances and collective pitch angle at tip Mach number of 0.6 and 0.892.

In this article, we use Lehmann alternative-II to extend the odd generalized exponential family. The uniqueness of this family lies in the fact that this transformation has resulted in a multitude of ...inverted distribution families with important applications in actuarial field. We can characterize the density of the new family as a linear combination of generalised exponential distributions, which is useful for studying some of the family’s properties. Among the structural characteristics of this family that are being identified are explicit expressions for numerous types of moments, the quantile function, stress-strength reliability, generating function, Rényi entropy, stochastic ordering, and order statistics. The maximum likelihood methodology is often used to compute the new family’s parameters. To confirm that our results are converging with reduced mean square error and biases, we perform a simulation analysis of one of the special model, namely OGE2-Fréchet. Furthermore, its application using two actuarial data sets is achieved, favoring its superiority over other competitive models, especially in risk theory.
Given their endosymbiotic origin, chloroplasts and mitochondria genomes harbor only between 100 and 200 genes that encode the proteins involved in organellar gene expression (OGE), photosynthesis, ...and the electron transport chain. However, as the activity of these organelles also needs a few thousand proteins encoded by the nuclear genome, a close coordination of the gene expression between the nucleus and organelles must exist. In line with this, OGE regulation is crucial for plant growth and development, and is achieved mainly through post-transcriptional mechanisms performed by nuclear genes. In this way, the nucleus controls the activity of organelles and these, in turn, transmit information about their functional state to the nucleus by modulating nuclear expression according to the organelles' physiological requirements. This adjusts organelle function to plant physiological, developmental, or growth demands. Therefore, OGE must appropriately respond to both the endogenous signals and exogenous environmental cues that can jeopardize plant survival. As sessile organisms, plants have to respond to adverse conditions to acclimate and adapt to them. Salinity is a major abiotic stress that negatively affects plant development and growth, disrupts chloroplast and mitochondria function, and leads to reduced yields. Information on the effects that the disturbance of the OGE function has on plant tolerance to salinity is still quite fragmented. Nonetheless, many plant mutants which display altered responses to salinity have been characterized in recent years, and interestingly, several are affected in nuclear genes encoding organelle-localized proteins that regulate the expression of organelle genes. These results strongly support a link between OGE and plant salt tolerance, likely through retrograde signaling. Our review analyzes recent findings on the OGE functions required by plants to respond and tolerate salinity, and highlights the fundamental role that chloroplast and mitochondrion homeostasis plays in plant adaptation to salt stress.

Many oil and gas extraction (OGE) activities occur in high-heat environments, resulting in a significant risk of heat-related illness among outdoor workers in this industry. This report highlights ...cases of occupational heat-related illness that resulted in death and identifies common risk factors for heat-related fatalities and hospitalizations among OGE workers. Two databases maintained by the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) were reviewed to identify heat-related fatalities, hospitalizations, and associated risk factors among OGE workers. Nine fatalities and associated risk factors were identified during 2014-2019 from NIOSH's Fatalities in Oil and Gas Extraction (FOG) Database. Risk factors identified included those commonly associated with heat-related fatalities: new workers not acclimatized to heat, inadequate heat stress training, and underlying hypertension or cardiovascular disease. Of particular note, substance use was identified as a significant risk factor as more than half of the fatalities included a positive postmortem test for amphetamines or methamphetamines. Fifty heat-related hospitalizations were identified from OSHA's Severe Injury Report Database during January 2015-May 2021. Heat stress has been and will continue to be an important cause of fatality and adverse health effects in OGE as hot outdoor working conditions become more common and extreme. More emphasis on heat stress training, acclimatization regimens, medical screening, and implementation of workplace-supportive recovery programs may reduce heat-related fatalities and injuries in this industry.
Exposure of plants to abiotic stresses, such as salinity, cold, heat, or drought, affects their growth and development, and can significantly reduce their productivity. Plants have developed adaptive ...strategies to deal with situations of abiotic stresses with guarantees of success, which have favoured the expansion and functional diversification of different gene families. The family of mitochondrial transcription termination factors (mTERFs), first identified in animals and more recently in plants, is likely a good example of this. In plants, mTERFs are located in chloroplasts and/or mitochondria, participate in the control of organellar gene expression (OGE), and, compared with animals, the mTERF family is expanded. Furthermore, the mutations in some of the hitherto characterised plant mTERFs result in altered responses to salt, high light, heat, or osmotic stress, which suggests a role for these genes in plant adaptation and tolerance to adverse environmental conditions. In this work, we investigated the effect of impaired mTERF6 function on the tolerance of Arabidopsis to salt, osmotic and moderate heat stresses, and on the response to the abscisic acid (ABA) hormone, required for plants to adapt to abiotic stresses. We found that the strong loss-of-function
and
mutants, mainly the former, were hypersensitive to NaCl, mannitol, and ABA during germination and seedling establishment. Additionally,
exhibited a higher sensitivity to moderate heat stress and a lower response to NaCl and ABA later in development. Our computational analysis revealed considerable changes in the
transcript levels in plants exposed to different abiotic stresses. Together, our results pinpoint a function for Arabidopsis mTERF6 in the tolerance to adverse environmental conditions, and highlight the importance of plant mTERFs, and hence of OGE homeostasis, for proper acclimation to abiotic stress.
Open gingival embrasure (OGE) is a common complication in adults following clear aligner therapy and the influence of gingival or alveolar bone biotype on OGE is of great concern. Unfortunately, due ...to the limited number of patients with clearaligner therapy and the clinical methods to distinguish the gingival biotype of patients being invasive, it is difficult to carry out clinical studies on the gingival or alveolar bone biotype of the OGE. In the meanwhile, the detailed biomechanics of the occurrence of OGE remains unknown. The goal of this study was to establish a new model to simulate the virtual space region, namely, the OGE region, to investigate the relationship between alveolar bone biotype and the occurrence of OGE, and explore potential biomechanical factors related to OGE.
The OGE region in the interproximal space was established using a filler with a very low modulus of elasticity (1 × 10
MPa). To illustrate the biomechanics of OGE more exhaustively, a line was created at the top of the alveolar crest along the proximal tooth root. FEA was then used to analyze the biomechanics of the surrounding tissues, the OGE region and the line at the top of the alveolar crest along the proximal tooth root of the central incisor under two different labial bone thicknesses (thick and thin) with an axial inclination of 80°, 90° and 100°.
During intrusion of the incisors in clear aligner therapy, as inclination increased or bone tissue became thinner, the stress in the surrounding tissues tooth root, alveolar crest, and periodontal ligament (PDL) was greater. In the OGE region and interproximal alveolar crest, the strain increased with increasing inclination and labial bone thinning. The results from the line at the top of the alveolar crest along the proximal tooth root showed more detailed biomechanics: In all groups, stress and strain were focused on the mesial-labial alveolar crest. Interestingly, our results also demonstrated that when OGE occurs, other complications may arise, including root resorption and bone dehiscence.
