Viktor Frankl (1905-1997) argued that every age has a need for a psychotherapy fit to cope with its particular neurosis. A trained psychiatrist, Frankl believed his age suffered from a 'worldwide ...emergence and persistence of the feeling of meaninglessness,' so in response he developed logotherapy. Decades before Frankl developed his logotherapy a young nun, Therese Martin (1873-1897) (more popularly known as Therese of Lisieux or the Little Flower), came to similar conclusions concerning society's neurosis. The goal of this study is to further our understanding of Theresian theology by presenting it within the paradigm of the more familiar logotherapy of Frankl.
Perera presents a comparison of bodhicitta and charity. These concepts are central to their respective traditions (Mahayana Buddhism, Christianity). He focuses on two sets of texts: the writings of ...the Indian Buddhist monk Santideva (late seventh and eighth centuries CE) and those of the French Catholic nun Therese of Lisieux (1873-1897).

Therese of Lisieux was dubbed The Little Flower. Taking this as her theme, Felicity Leng has shown how Therese's flowering as a Saint was a process of hardship, inner conflict and physical and moral ...endurance. The Little Way (her spiriual message) has become something immensely appealing to people from all walks of life. There is constant demand for books on Therese, yet no book or article on her has shown the various sources of her flower imagery and how she drew on them to shape her unique vision of herself and her never-ending relationship with God, people, the Church and the natural world. The reader is constantly pointed to Therese as a living personality with a mature creative imagination. Her concept of purpose, redemption, effort, suffering and joy, now and hereafter, is gradually constructed throughout the book.
