The aim of this article is to examine the situation of women in the German Parliament during the 1968 movement. The existing historiography has shown that women have largely been overlooked as a ...category when it came to protests in Germany and more generally in countries where mass demonstrations took place. Hence this article addresses the following question: did women in the Bundestag suffer from this detrimental situation to the same extent women that did in the 1968 movement? Social-democrat women in Parliament tended to be assigned to stereotypical topics, such as health and education, and they built their identity as parliamentary experts in those fields. A few female representatives, however, did not succeed in emerging as prominent personalities within the parliamentary group. Thus, women did not build a homogeneous entity in the Bundestag. A change occurred after the beginning of the new legislature in 1969, as female representatives came to dialogue with their male counterparts on issues such as divorce or abortion. In a way, they managed to shorten the traditional gap between male and female topics in Parliament and developed a new use of the media in order to get their message across.

This paper reexamines the debated issue of the effects of rent control policy on the rental market. We investigate the impact on rents of three different forms of rent regulation in Lyon over a ...78‐year period. We use an original historical data set which allows us to track regulation changes, rent paid, and tenant moves for a long‐run panel of flats. Using a difference‐in‐differences method, we estimate the impact of regulation on rents depending on the type of rent control over different economic periods. Our results show that the impact of rent control deepened over time. Starting with an 11% reduction in rents between 1914 and 1929, it reached a decrease by 47% in the regulated rental market in the 1949–1968 period. We do not find any increase in rents in the unregulated segment of the rental market, which could be a result of a reduction in housing investment in the long run.

Daniel Calparsoro, a director who has made a crucial contribution to contemporary Spanish and Basque cinema, has provoked strong reactions from the critics. Reductively dismissed as a works of crude ...violence by those lamenting a 'lost golden age' of Spanish filmmaking, Calparsoro's films in fact reveal a more complex interaction with trends and traditions in both Spanish and Hollywood cinema. This book is the first full-length study of the director's work, from his early social-realist films set in the Basque Country to his later forays into the genres of the war and horror. It offers an in-depth film-by-film analysis while simultaneously exploring the director's position in the contemporary Spanish context, the tension between directors and critics and the question of national cinema in an area - the Basque Country - of heightened national and regional sensitivities.

This paper is a follow-up and elaboration of the paper published in the JTDH 2022 Conference Proceedings on manual semantic annotation of named entities based on a proposed set of annotations for a ...corpus of modernist literary texts. We first briefly describe the corpus and introduce the annotation scheme, then focus on the results of additional analyses, and conclude with further challenges and issues we identified with respect to established NER systems and practices of related projects. Overall, we identify several categories of proper names, foreign language elements, and bibliographic citations, but focus here on the challenges of annotating names of literary characters and place names, and provide examples of the results of preliminary analyses of these entities in the corpus.
