오늘날 각종 공모를 통해 조각 작품이 설치되는 과정에서 3D 소프트웨어를 활용한 이미지는 작품의 제안, 심사, 심의, 제작에 이르기까지 모든 분야에서 활용되고 있다. 이에 본 논문의 목적은 야외에 설치되는 조각 작품을 사실적이며 실재감 있는 포토리얼리스틱 컴퓨터 그래픽으로 표현하는 방법과 가능성을 연구하는 것이다. 본 논문의 사용 소프트웨어는 현재 가장 ...대중적으로 사용되는 3ds Max와 V-Ray를 중심으로 한다. 2장에서는 작품의 3D 모델링을 Use NURMS Subdivision 기반과 3D 스캔 데이터로 나누어 연구한다. 이어 3장에서는 야외 조각 작품에 가장 많이 사용되는 스테인리스 스틸과 석재 그리고 브론즈에 대한 V-Ray 재질을 고찰한다. 4장에서는 앞서 연구한 내용을 바탕으로 VraySun과 HDRI로 렌더링 되는 이미지를 비교 분석하여 더욱 사실적인 포토리얼리스틱 이미지에 대하여 연구한다. 그 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 3D 모델링 부분에서 구상과 비구상 작품으로 나누어 볼 때 비구상 작품은 Use NURMS Subdivision을 기반으로 하고 구상 작품은 3D 스캔 데이터를 활용하는 것이 더욱 효율적인 작업 방법으로 판단된다. 둘째, 작품의 재질은 VRayMtl을 기본으로 리플렉트과 프레넬값, 범프, 각종 텍스처를 각 재료에 맞게 조정해서 사용하여야 한다. 셋째, VraySun은 쉽게 태양빛과 하늘의 색을 만들 수 있으나 반사가 많이 발생하는 작품은 주변 환경을 같이 모델링해야 한다. 따라서 포토리얼리스틱 이미지를 만들기 위해서는 VraySun 보다 환경 데이터가 포함된 HDRI를 활용하는 것이 더욱 사실적이고 효율적인 이미지를 제작하는 방식으로 판단된다. 이처럼 본 연구는 3D 소프트웨어를 사용하여 조각 작품을 렌더링한 결과물이 단순한 가상의 공간 시뮬레이션을 넘어선다는 것을 알 수 있었다. 또한, 이 과정을 통해 3D 소프트웨어를 활용한 렌더링 결과물이 실제 조각 작품에 근접한 포토리얼리스틱 이미지를 만들어 내는 가능성을 보았다.
Nowadays images that are utilized with 3D software are widely used in every step of proposals for art work. This includes the examination, deliberation, and production of sculpture in various contests. Thus, the purpose of this thesis is to study methods and possibilities of expressing sculptures installed outdoors with realistic and vivid photorealistic computer graphics. The software used in the research for this thesis are mainly 3ds Max, and V-Ray, which are currently the most commonly used. In Chapter 2, 3D modeling of the works of art were divided into Use NURMS Subdivision-based and 3D Scan Data, then studied. Chapter 3 will consider the most commonly used materials for outdoor work. This includes stainless steel, stone, and bronze. In Chapter 4, based on the data from the earlier studies, images that are rendered with VraySun and HDRI are compared and analyzed, then researched to create more realistic images. The results are as follows. In the 3D modeling part, when it is divided into figurative and non-figurative works, it is judged that non-figurative works are based on Use NURMS Subdivision, but using 3D Scan Data is more realistic and efficient for figurative works. Second, Materials of the works are VRayMtl basic, and should be used by adjusting reflections, Fresnel values, bumps, and various textures, respectively. Third, colors of sunshine and sky can be easily created with VraySun, however, in case of reflective art, the surrounding environment should be modeled together. Thus, in order to create photorealistic images, using HDRI images which include environment data rather than VraySun can make more realistic and efficient results. As such, through these studies, it is found that the results of modeling and rendering sculptures using 3D software goes beyond simple spatial simulation. In addition, through this process, the possibility that the rendering result using 3D software can create photorealistic images close to the actual sculptures was shown.
Without any doubt, the last years had seen an increasing deal of interest towards the Dacian culture and civilization, not just in Romania, but also in other countries. Unfortunately, most of those ...who are outside academia or specialized institutions do not have any sort of access to proper information about the subject. Reconstructing and bringing to life ancient artifacts could be a useful way to resolve these issues. In this paper we discuss a method for 3D reconstruction of ancient pottery using drawn profiles and we had chosen as a case study and example a reconstruction of a wheel made Dacian fruit bowl. Although the method is known, issues such as texturing are not discussed in great detail. In order to reconstruct the pot, we had used software such as Photoshop, 3ds Max and Mudbox. We processed and cleaned the original image, while importing it in 3ds Max, where, we transformed the drawing into an object and we created an UVW texture. Then, we imported our work in Mudbox, where we applied a texture. The texture was created from the photography of the original pot. We applied the texture and we obtained as a final result a pot with an authentic look. Software such as Mudbox can also be used to sculpt 3D objects in great detail, so reconstructing uneven handmade pots, painted pots, or pots with various plastic ornaments can also be possible. Reconstructing ancient pots in 3D is extremely useful especially for the larger public, as it effectively manages to " bring to life" the otherwise inert drawings that are " readable" only by the expert eye of the archaeologist.
