Enterocytozoon hepatopenaei (EHP) is endemic in major shrimp farming countries affecting the economic sustainability, production and supply of shrimp in the global market. The study reports ...development of a stochastic model to estimate the economic loss due to EHP to Indian Penaeus vannamei shrimp farms and identify the associated key risk factors at the farm-level. Information on the cost of production and revenue were collected through a survey of shrimp farms (n = 281) from September to November 2020. The quantitative risk analysis for specific effects of the disease was estimated by Monte Carlo simulation using excel@Risk. The occurrence of the EHP was found to be positively correlated with the stocking density. The observed harvest of lower size shrimp and higher FCR could be attributed to EHP. Biological loss due to EHP was 75.21% and was highly significant. The cost of prevention of EHP was 15.22% and the treatment cost was 4.30%, along with an extraordinary cost of 5.26% with an average loss of ₹ 61,778 (US$ 813) ton−1 at farm-level. Regression sensitivity analysis revealed farm gate price was the strongest stochastic variable and one unit increase in farm gate price of shrimp positively influenced the net return by 0.76 units. The significant factors negatively influencing the net returns were expenditure on feed (0.51), seed (0.19) and labour (0.18). The net return estimated using Monte Carlo simulation in EHP affected farms was ₹ 14,390 (US$ 189.37) and the distribution revealed that nearly half of the farmers could lose their investment due to EHP. The study quantified the economic impact of EHP at the farm-level and identified the regional variation in the risk factors impacting the cost-benefit analysis of Indian shrimp farming.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menghasilkan e-module materi Persamaan Nirlanjar dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme berbantuan Microsoft Excel yang valid dan praktis bagi mahasiswa. Penelitian ini ...merupakan penelitian pengembangan menggunakan model pengembangan ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation). Subjek penelitian ini adalah 12 orang mahasiswa semester 6 Program Studi Pendidikan Matematika Universitas PGRI Palembang Tahun Akademik 2019/2020. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan melalui angket, dokumentasi dan wawancara. Data dalam penelitian ini dianalisis secara deskriptif kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil penelitian ini adalah produk e-module materi Persamaan Nirlanjar yang dikembangkan dengan pendekatan konstruktivisme berbantuan Microsoft Excel valid dan praktis bagi mahasiswa. Validitas e-module dilihat dari hasil penilaian para pakar terhadap materi dan media yang digunakan dalam e-module. Skor validitas e-module secara keseluruhan adalah 83,5%. Kepraktisan e-module dilihat dari hasil respon mahasiswa yang menggunakan e-module dalam pembelajaran materi Persamaan Nirlanjar. Hasil respon mahasiswa adalah 90,16% dengan kategori kepraktisan sangat baik. Berdasarkan hasil dan analisis data dapat disimpulkan bahwa e-module yang dikembangkan valid dan praktis sehingga dapat digunakan dalam pembelajaran Persamaan Nirlanjar.
The Kainji hydropower station is a seven turbo-alternator station that for many years served as the base load supply for the Nigerian power grid. Over 200,000 pieces of data about the performance of ...the machines were used to estimate values of the failure and repair rates for each machine and a Markov steady-state model of the plant was constructed to determine the probability output of the turbines. This result showed that Kaplan turbine (KT) 12 is prone to failure compared to any other KT unit in the hydropower plant. Also, the clusters of probability that define the system state due to the different output capacities of the units show that the hydropower plant has not performed to its maximum capacity, further evaluation shows that 60% of the KT machine units are operating which is consistent with the observed robustness of the output. The model not only conforms to observations but reasonably provide a means of studying the effects of different actions that may be taken to improve the performance of hydropower plant.
Managers are increasingly being tasked with overseeing data-driven projects that incorporate prescriptive and predictive models. Furthermore, basic knowledge of the data analytics pipeline is a ...fundamental requirement in many modern organizations. Given the central importance of analytics in today’s business environment, there is a growing demand for educational pedagogies that give students the opportunity to learn the fundamentals while also familiarizing them with how such tools are applied. However, a tension exists between the introduction of real-world problems that students can analyze and extract insight from and the need for prerequisite knowledge of mathematical concepts and programming languages such as Python/R. As a consequence, this paper describes an application-focused course that uses Microsoft Excel and mathematical programming to introduce MBA students with nontechnical backgrounds to tools from both prescriptive and predictive analytics. While students’ gain proficiency in managing data and creating optimization and machine learning models, they are also exposed to broader business concepts. Teaching evaluations indicate that the course has helped students further develop their practical skills in Microsoft Excel, gain an appreciation of the real-world impact of data analytics, and has introduced them to a discipline they originally believed was best suited for more technically focused professionals.

Once the wind data is measured, the values are processed, based on statistic approach, as accurately as possible, to provide a clear over-view of the locations wind potential, being the basis of any ...wind farm project, representing the go or no-go in further subsequent design steps. The probability density distributions are derived from time-series data, identifying the associated distributional parameters. The wind energy potential of the locations is studied based on the Rayleigh and Weibull models, implemented with the help of Excel computations, and representing tools, to understand the wind characteristics. Based on the statistical analysis of wind conditions presented here, the results of current study can be used to make a sustainable energy yield for any location.

A la salida de la parcela hay un canal de desagüe cuyo control permitirá ...establecer prácticas para reducir el gran consumo de agua. Se ha diseñado un aforador de estrechamiento largo para cubrir el intervalo completo de caudales a aforar. Puesto que el canal de desagüe tiene una sección trapecial, la garganta del aforador será también trapecial para disminuir las pérdidas de carga. Un nuevo procedimiento se ha desarrollado en una hoja de cálculo Excel que permite diseñar directamente las dimensiones de la sección estrechada, talud de las paredes y anchura de la base, eligiendo previamente el límite modular, la altura del umbral y la longitud del estrechamiento más en concordancia con las características del canal. Los resultados demuestran la precisión y viabilidad del procedimiento.
