Summary
Facsimile paper, so‐called thermal paper, is an example for thermographic recording material which is utilised for fast printing of receipts and tickets. These papers consist of a thermochromic three‐component mixture of a colourless leuco dye and a weak acidic developer mixed with a high melting long‐chain alcohol solvent. The developer is encapsulated in the solvent and therefore not able to protonate the pH‐sensitive leuco dye molecules to build the coloured state of the mixture. A striking colour change occurs upon heating the composition and melting the solvent whereby the developer is free to react with the leuco dye. Thermochromic composites formulated from the colour former Crystal Violet lactone (CVL), an alkyl gallate as developer and 1‐tetradecanol as solvent are presented in this article. The simple contact with hot water leads to colour reaction on thermal paper, whereas no colour change occurs after contact with hot oil. Based on these phenomena on thermal paper, we have found an interesting concept to demonstrate thermochromic behaviour for science education in school.
Historical-critical edition of Arthur Schnitzler’s one-act verse drama „Paracelsus“ (written 1894–1898). This edition presents a detailed preface, documenting both the genesis of the text as well as ...the printing history, a transcription of the genetic materials with facsimiles, a print text with a display of textual variants and a commentary.

The key roles played by phospholipids in many cellular processes, has led to the development of model systems, to explore both lipid-lipid and lipid-peptide interactions. Biomimetic giant unilamellar ...vesicles represent close facsimiles of in vivo cellular membranes, although currently their widespread use in research is hindered by difficulties involving their integration into high-throughput techniques, for exploring membrane biology intensively in situ. This paper presents an integrated microfluidic device for the production, manipulation and high-throughput analysis of giant unilamellar vesicles. Its utility is demonstrated by exploring the lipid interaction dynamics of the pore-forming antimicrobial peptide melittin, assessed through the release of fluorescent dyes from within biomimetic vesicles, with membrane compositions similar to mammalian plasma membranes.
The main objective of this paper is to reduce the timing of higher officials to sign in large number of same documents. Manual signing of documents adds time shortage in Public Work Department. ...Moreover, the manual process is time consuming and not suitable for signing a greater number of documents. The proposed model involves the arrangement of documents, positioning of facsimile, stamping the facsimile and take out the printed documents to distribute station. Thus, this model signs a greater number of documents within a short time. Pneumatic power is fruitfully utilized in this paper and the system is controlled by an Arduino controller. Positioning of facsimile is done by the lead screw arrangement with the help of sensors. The finished documents are then sucked by vacuum cup and taken out simultaneously. Our real time implementation helps them in unveiling such condition. The paper consists of two sections namely mechanical section and control section. The control section consists of Arduino controller and Relays. Arduino controller is used to control the DC motor and the relays are used to actuate the mechanical sections. The mechanical section consists of lead screw arrangement, pneumatic piston, suction cup and facsimile.
Due to a limited availability of human bone for training purposes in ear surgery, authentic models are needed. The Magdeburg temporal bone model (Mtbm) is an epoxy resin facsimile of a human os ...temporale which is manufactured by 3D printing based on human computed tomography data. Here, the processing properties of the Mtbm are investigated with respect to the drilling and milling behavior and the elastic modulus. Results are compared with those of human os temporale. The forces during drilling and milling and the elastic moduli show significant differences between both types of material – all values are significantly higher for bone. However, reproducing the trabecular structure of human bone results in a similar degree of force fluctuations. Thus, an authentic feeling for the surgeon is roughly provided by the AFM.

This volume offers detailed studies into the Physiologus, a Greek manuscript probably written in Egypt in the 2nd century CE. The Physiologus was the first Christian text to sum up a general ...understanding of nature using biblical and pagan sources and it has an extensive reception history throughout the medieval period. Its symbolic use of animals and plants, etc., has deeply influenced visual arts, literature, and heraldry, but this visual language often remains enigmatic. This book, going back to a project of the Swiss National Foundation ( Das ‹Evangelium der Natur›. Der griechische Physiologus und die Wurzeln der frühchristlichen Naturdeutung) offers new insights into the origins and the interpretation of this symbolic language.
