A clinical trial seeks information for the benefit of future patients and not necessarily for those who participate in the study. However, there are patients who believe that they will receive a ...direct therapeutic benefit by participating in a clinical trial, the so-called «therapeutic misconception». In this article, we describe the nature and extent of therapeutic misconception, which researchers can also experience. Its presence is especially important in phase 1 oncology trials and those with placebo group. To limit its occurrence, investigators have to ensure that participant information sheet are well written and to establish an effective and transparent discussion during the process of obtaining informed consent so that patients understand all aspects of their participation in the research and appreciate what this participation entails.
Un ensayo clínico busca obtener datos para el beneficio de futuros pacientes y no necesariamente para los que participan en él. Sin embargo, hay pacientes que creen que obtendrán un beneficio terapéutico directo por participar en un ensayo clínico: es el denominado «equívoco terapéutico». En este artículo se describe la naturaleza y la extensión del equívoco terapéutico, que también pueden presentar los investigadores. Su presencia es especialmente relevante en ensayos con grupo placebo y en los de fase 1 de oncología. Para intentar limitar su aparición hay que asegurar que las hojas de información para los participantes estén bien redactadas, y que los investigadores establezcan una conversación efectiva y transparente en el proceso de obtención del consentimiento informado, de forma que el paciente conozca todos los matices de su participación en la investigación y valore lo que esto significa.

This experiment was conducted to develop liquid fertilizer for leaf vegetable using the agricultural by-products such as dry chicken dropping, bone meal, rice bran, soybean oil cake and fish meal. ...Combination of 50% dry chicken dropping, 30% bone meal and 20% rice bran among several combinations of by-products was selected as materials for liquid fertilizer of head lettuce and cabbage.
Between 2002 and 2004 studies of cauliflower grown for autumn harvest were conducted. The investigated plants included cauliflower of white, green and romanesco cultivars, produced at different ...nitrogen fertilisation and degree of curd development. Following the harvesting, curds were placed for a period of 5 weeks in a cooling room at 2 deg C and a relative air humidity of 85-90 percent. The largest curds were obtained from the plants of white cauliflower and the smallest ones from the romanesco cauliflower. Fertilization with a higher dose of nitrogen led to the formation of larger curds in the white and green cultivars of cauliflower. Larger curds were obtained when harvest was at the time where curds reached standard commercial quality (possibly maximum weight and simultaneous compact and smooth surface). The green cultivar of cauliflower was characterized by the longest duration of storage. In comparison with green and romanesco cultivars, curds of the white cultivar contained higher concentrations of calcium and sodium. Compared to the romanesco cultivar, curds of green cauliflower contained a higher concentration of L-ascorbic acid, potassium and sodium. Following the storage period, the content of almost all analysed elements increased in every cultivar of cauliflower
Tomato (Lycopersicon esculentum) is one of the high value vegetable corps of the Philippines. However, its production is continuously threatened with the infection of virus diseases; the most ...damaging is Tomato leaf curl virus (ToLCV). To date, there are no commercial varieties grown in the country with good resistance against ToLCV. Through induction of mutation in tomato using ethyl methane sulfonate (EMS), a rich source of genetic materials for breeding for multiple virus resistance has been generated. Five morphological classes and three distinct fruit traits are characterized in EMS-tomato mutants. Of the 254 M2 families, 77 M2 families are identified to have at least one observable mutant phenotype. Observed five morphological traits in Distinct mutant phenotypes are characterized in plant habit, leaf color, leaf morphology, inflorescence and flower morphology. The M2 plants also exhibited mutation in fruit characters including, fruit shape, fruit color, and cross-sectional shape. Initial set of 14 DNA markers are developed targeting 10 candidate host factor genes for ToLCV and four for cucumber mosaic virus (CMV) infections in tomato. These markers were used to amplify and screen for single nucleotide variants (SNVs) in candidate gene sequences of deep-pooled M2 genomic DNA samples. PCR amplicons were standardized, re-pooled and sent for Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) using Illumina MiSeq sequencer. By establishing a local bioinformatics pipeline, NGS reads were analyzed to identify low frequency SNVs with EMS - characteristic of point-mutations. Candidate SNVs are identified in four candidate host factor genes for ToLCV and one for CMV. Single nucleotide polymorphism (SNP) markers specific to the map-positions of the SNVs are being developed. These markers will be used to mine which M2 family tomato plant in the deep-pool samples carries the desired EMS-point mutation using various platforms such as Targeting Induced Local Lesions in the Genome (TILLING) and D.Code mutation detection systems.
Based on field's experiments made in years 2002-2004 on experimental land in School agriculture land Zabrice, MZLU Bmo, with select assortment Czech as well as foreign varieties of iceberg lettuce, ...it can be advised to grow in the Czech Republic conditions these varieties - for spring growing and harvest these varieties - Maximo, Talisman, Campionas, for summer growing and harvest - Talisman, Tarzan, Campionas, for autumn harvest - Talisman, Embrace, Campionas, Iglo, Tarzan. It cannot be advised to grow the Prazan variety, which the most sprang to the blossom in every harvest terms and experimental years. The health conditions of iceberg lettuce plant-cover is the most dependent on weather running during the vegetation (temperature, rainfall), not on the variety of iceberg lettuce.
