The purpose of this short review is to give a personal appreciation of a woman who was my mentor and friend and who made enormous contributions in the field of translational radiation biology.
Julie ...Denekamp was a talented and charismatic scientist and teacher. She was a major contributor to our understanding of the effects of fractionation schedules on the response of tumors and normal tissues to radiotherapy and of factors that could be manipulated to alter these responses. She was also one of the first to recognize that the fragile state of tumor vasculature could be exploited in targeted radiotherapy.
Cynewulf's Juliana has long been the subject of feminist criticism, particularly focusing on the moments when Juliana claims power and agency in enclosure, even in her imprisonment. This article ...reevaluates Juliana's claims to power and agency from the perspective of modern critical theory and pragmatics, arguing that Juliana uses place-deixis to claim her body as a sovereign space, challenging the secular and political authority imposed upon her by her pagan father, her fiancé, and the emperor. These authorities force Juliana to move physically - first from her household, then to court, and then to different locations where she is tortured and imprisoned. However, her bodily movement contrasts not only with her spiritual fixity, but with her continuing sovereignty over the space of her body. Place-deixis and spatial imagery work with references to God's all-encompassing physical presence to redefine "power the relationship" and dwarf the limited authority that earthly authorities seem to wield.
Citizens of the world are calling for climate action at the national and international levels. In those places slow to respond, climate litigation has emerged as a method that activists are using to ...force action. Of the 700 or so pending cases, the climate litigation presently garnering the most attention is Juliana v. United States where 21 youth have challenged the actions of the federal government for knowingly creating and exacerbating climate change. Others have taken to the streets to challenge government inaction on climate change. In both instances, courts are often left as de facto policy makers. This paper seeks to document the precedent-setting Juliana v. United States case and understand the implication of the actions of young climate advocates as they seek to defend their rights to a sustainable future. The paper also explores such youth and civic activism and inaction in relation to "sustainable" tourism. It calls for better consideration of the needs of children and young people in discussions of climate justice and tourism, particularly the future generations of children and youth who stand to bear the brunt of climate change impacts in the Global North and South.
Antioxidant activities of three selected Micromeria species growing in Croatia (M. croatica, M. juliana and M. thymifolia) were evaluated using five different antioxidant assays, in comparison with ...plant polyphenolic constituents and reference antioxidants. All studied ethanolic extracts exhibited considerable activity to scavenge DPPH and hydroxyl free radicals, reducing power, iron chelating ability and total antioxidant capacity in the order: M. croatica > M. juliana > M. thymifolia. Total polyphenol (9.69-13.66%), phenolic acid (5.26-6.84%), flavonoid (0.01-0.09%) and tannin (3.07-6.48%) contents in dried plant samples were determined spectrophotometrically. A strong positive correlation between antioxidant activities and contents of phenolic acids and tannins was found, indicating their responsibility for effectiveness of tested plants. Our findings established Micromeria species as a rich source of antioxidant polyphenols, especially the endemic M. croatica.
Geographies of the mortality of Julia Vidal, is an artistic proposal that was exhibitied in yhe “Museos de las Conceptas”, located on Cuenca, Ecuador, place that was part oh the XIV Biennial called ...“Estructuras Vivientes. El arte como experiencia plural” (2018-2019). As a result of the visit made to the place, we will to ask for three perspectives that focus on aspects of space, time, as well as new readings about the interpretations of the idea of scar-thematics. Vidal is working on the proposal about it, and we will try to understand what is the gesture that the artist makes about the ways a theme visible? On the other hand, the intention is also to question how others ways of doing from the visual narrative, the material resource used in the place, the fragily of memory, may be able to break into our perceptions.

It has been increasingly recognized that there is a subset of patients with refractory systemic JIA, who have failed all available medications and may benefit from HSCT. The increasing experience ...with HSCT in SJIA, suggests that despite the complicated post-HSCT course, short-term, the transplanted patients either achieved SJIA remission or reduced burden of disease. Longer follow-up, however, is needed to better define the long-term outcomes. The discussion at the NextGen 2022 conference was focused on the optimal timing for the procedure, the need for a good control of inflammatory SJIA activity prior to HSCT, and the role of the reduced intensity conditioning regimens as there was a remote concern that such regimens might increase the risk of SJIA relapse after the transplantation. There was unanimous agreement about the importance of long-term registries to address these questions.
