Cilj je ovog istraživanja ispitati doprinos varijabli obiteljskog i varijabli vršnjačkog konteksta u objašnjenju samopoštovanja tijekom rane, srednje i kasne adolescencije. U istraživanju je ...sudjelovalo 344 osnovnoškolaca, 370 srednjoškolaca te 357 studenata. Prosječna dob sudionika u skupini mlađih adolescenata iznosi M = 12.6 (SD = 0.63), u skupini srednjih adolescenata M = 16.5 (SD = 0.57), a u skupini starijih adolescenata M = 20.6 (SD = 1.17). Primijenjeni su sljedeći instrumenti: Upitnik općih podataka, Upitnik roditeljskog prihvaćanja-odbacivanja, Skala obiteljske prilagodljivosti i kohezivnosti, Upitnik kvalitete prijateljstva, Upitnik privrženosti vršnjacima – revidirana verzija i Rosenbergova skala za mjerenje samopoštovanja. Rezultati provedenih hijerarhijskih regresijskih analiza upućuju na to da set prediktorskih varijabli objašnjava 38% ukupne varijance samopoštovanja kod mlađih, 21% ukupne varijance samopoštovanja kod srednjih i 27% ukupne varijance samopoštovanja kod starijih adolescenata. Kada su u pitanju obiteljske varijable, u skupini mlađih i srednjih adolescenata značajni su prediktori samopoštovanja varijable roditeljsko prihvaćanje-odbacivanje od strane majke i obiteljska prilagodljivost i kohezivnost, a kod starijih adolescenata varijable roditeljsko prihvaćanje-odbacivanje od strane majke i oca. Od varijabli vršnjačkog konteksta kao značajan prediktor samopoštovanja u sve tri skupine adolescenata izdvojila se kvaliteta privrženosti vršnjacima. Dobiveni rezultati upućuju na to da je pri razmatranju obiteljskih i vršnjačkih odrednica samopoštovanja kod adolescenata nužno uzeti u obzir različite oblike obiteljskih i vršnjačkih interakcija, ali i uvažavati razvojne specifičnosti pojedinih razdoblja adolescencije.

Migrant movement from Africa is often misunderstood and misrepresented as invasion caused by displacement due to poverty, violent conflict, and environmental stress. To control this movement and preserve national identities, the EU and its various member states resort to closing borders as a way of reinforcing their migration policies. This book aims to dismantle this stereotypical view of migration from Africa by sharing cutting-edge research from the leading scholars in Africa and Europe. It refutes the flawed narratives that position Africa as a threat to European societies, their economies, and security, and encourages a nuanced understanding of the root causes as well as the socioeconomic factors that guide the migrants’ decision-making. This article focuses on young people in family farms (Croatian OPGs) in Vidovec, more specifically on young people’s actions (using Bourdieu’s habitus), young people’s roles and on family and work ...relations, all of which have an impact on young people. The aim of this qualitative research is to identify the different processes that young people go through in the OPGs, which is motivated by the lack of research on this topic in Croatia. The data was collected through six semi-structured interviews. The habitus of young people in OPGs is formed in childhood and is represented by the interaction of family, social and agricultural situations. Family, work and gender roles in the OPG are recognized, especially the role of successor and helper. Young people are mainly driven by the obligation to help their parents in the OPG, for family and economic reasons. Life choices in the OPG are rarely binary and dichotomous, which is reflected in the activities of the young people and in the relations between the young people and their parents. Life in the OPG entails an intertwining of family and work relations, based on which hierarchies and different power relations can be recognized. The current conditions set by local self-government, the circumstances of Croatian agriculture and agricultural incentives lead young people to consider leaving agriculture in the future, although these reasons are not decisive. This decision is primarily influenced by family and work relations in the OPG and is linked to the problems of leaving the farmer’s habitus.

This book analyses whether the EU’s drift towards European strategic autonomy presents a challenge or a window of opportunity for its small member states to advance their security interests. The ...volume presents small states’ perceptions of European strategic autonomy, highlighting their expectations and concerns. The chapters focus on the depth and breadth of European strategic autonomy, national security considerations, assessment of the impact on transatlantic relations, the expected outputs, and its potential impact on the EU’s institutional structure. It also shows how systemic circumstances and the interests of powerful states, either belonging to the EU (France, Germany, and Poland) or having a significant say in European security architecture (the US), establish opportunities and constraints for the small states to shape European strategic autonomy. In particular, the study focuses on the diverging interests of the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania), Belgium, Denmark, Greece, Hungary, and the Netherlands. It demonstrates that, in most cases, European strategic autonomy is perceived not as an alternative to NATO but as a supplementary element that could facilitate the development of national military capabilities, indigenous defence industries and resilience to non-military threats. Ultimately, the book suggests that national approaches towards European strategic autonomy mainly stem from pragmatic national security and foreign policy considerations, while largely ignoring grand strategic ideas. This book will be of much interest to students of European politics, security studies, and international relations. Unlike the United ...Nations’ monumental Convention on the Law of the Sea, which imagines one comprehensive constitutional framework for governing the ocean, Laws of the Sea approaches oceanic law in plural and dynamic ways. Critically engaging contemporary concerns about the fate of the ocean, the collection’s twelve chapters range from hydrothermal vents through the continental shelf and marine genetic resources to coastal communities in France, Sweden, Florida, and Indonesia. Documenting the longstanding binary of land and sea, the chapters pose a fundamental challenge to European law’s “terracentrism” and its pervasive influence on juridical modes of knowing and making the world.
