The Lower Cambrian Gog Group of the southern Rocky Mountains of western Canada offers an opportunity to explore animal–sediment relationships in a high-energy setting, during the early phase of ...Phanerozoic diversification. Its strata record a sand-sheet complex on the broad pericontinental shelf of West Laurentia. Six ichnofabrics are recognized: Skolithos IF-1 characterized by Skolithos linearis in planar cross-stratified sandstone; Skolithos IF-2 with Skolithos linearis and accessory Diplocraterion parallelum in ripple cross-laminated, and planar and trough cross-stratified sandstone; Skolithos IF-3 with S. linearis and Planolites montanus in wavy- and flaser-bedded sandstone, interfingering with bioturbated mudstone exhibiting P. montanus and Teichichnus rectus; Skolithos IF-4, characterized by abundant Skolithos linearis in planar and trough cross-stratified sandstone; Rosselia IF-1 consisting of Rosselia isp. in planar cross-stratified sandstone; and Rosselia IF-2 consisting of scattered small Rosselia isp. in hummocky, cross-stratified sandstone. The presence of contrasting ichnofabrics within a single early Cambrian sand-sheet complex illuminates how the colonization trends of suspension and detritus feeders were controlled by factors specific to the various sub-environments.

The present study aimed to establish potential indicators of fish farming pollution in muddy substrate, by means of meiofauna, and to test whether the effect of the fish farm is more important to ...determine the meiofauna community than the seasonal environmental conditions. Sampling was performed in spring, after several months of light feeding, and in summer, at high food supply. Samples were collected in three directions at various distances from the floating cages. Harpacticoid copepods and kinorhynchs, whose abundance decreased under the cages, were put forward as indicator taxa. However, harpacticoid copepods were sensitive to fish farm only, while kinorhynchs showed responsiveness to fish farm and to seasonal environmental conditions. Total meiofauna density was dependent on season sensu stricto. The nMDS clearly showed a ‘cage community’ and ‘control community’ in both sampling occasions; therefore it is a good tool for impact assessment.
This paper explores ethnic, cultural and symbolic boundaries in a micro-region within the Mediterranean area of Istria, which is conceptualised as a multicultural, multi-ethnic and multilingual ...region. In scholarly writings and everyday speech, it is seen as a border zone where people construct multiple pure and hybrid identities. In this paper, I intend to explore some of the geographic, historical, political, and anthropological discourses that are present in the fieldwork location of Istria and North East Adriatic Sea as well as address the issue of national land and maritime borders and ethnic boundaries. I will focus on the border issues in the periods of political and ideological changes after World War II and after 1991, in the wake of the disintegration of Yugoslavia and the creation of Slovenia and Croatia as new post-socialist states. Particular focus will be on the issue of international arbitrage on the maritime and land border in 2017.
The subject of this publication is a critical edition of the preserved parts of the eleventh, twelfth, fourteenth, and sixteenth notary books from the Piran Branch Office of the Regional Archives of ...Koper. With notary books we are not dealing with literary readings, but with abstracts of a mass of business manuscript agreements of various contents. The fragments contain the models of documents created in the period 1301–1320 (1321). The writer of summaries in the preserved fragments of notary fascicle No. 11 was Almericus, while the notary Perinus Appolonii kept records of business transactions in codex No. 15. The writers of other fragments are not known.
The monograph presents different names of Piran Bay (Slo. Piranski zaliv) over time. Despite the leading onomastic topic, the publication is designed as a regional-geographic review of Piran Bay and ...its hinterland, where all the main physical- and socio-geographical characteristics are presented. This book describes the basic hydro-geographic characteristics of Piran Bay as a part of Gulf of Trieste and the Adriatic Sea. The monograph talks about the historical development, salt making in Sečovlje salt pans and the circumstances that led to the now more than two decades-long border dispute between Slovenia and Croatia. A significant chapter is dedicated to the presentation of the different naming of the Bay of Piran through time. According to the chronological order, 104 different cartographic sources present the name changes of the Piran Bay through time and when a certain specific geographic name appeared. Based on media analysis, one of the chapters describes the relation between the names Savudrijska vala or Savudrijski zaljev (Savudrija Bay) and Piranski zaliv or Piranski zaljev (Piran Bay).
