Many experts undeniably acknowledge the effectiveness of story-retelling activities in improving many aspects of learning. This case study investigates how story-retelling activity impacts the ...student’s communication strategy. The study involved a teacher and a five-year-old student at an Islamic kindergarten. Data was gathered through direct observation and interviews. The teacher’s activity in telling a story and the student’s retelling activity were recorded. Then, the utterances produced by the teacher and the student were transcribed and compared based on the SNAP procedure proposed by Strong. The assessment had four criteria: story length, error type, comprehension type, and story grammar. The assessment explained to what extent the student understood the story told by the teacher. With his understanding, the student struggled to deliver the story using a communication strategy. It was found that the student’s story length was 27% of the teacher’s story length. He made four types of errors, performed 83% factual type comprehension, fulfilled all components in the story grammar, and applied both avoidance and compensatory communication strategies. The results of research data analysis show that retelling activities have triggered the implementation of communication. From a language education perspective, communication strategy is part of communicative competence.
This paper explores the new travel risk scenario by analysing travel risk perception during the pandemic and proposes measures to improve traveller confidence based on the issue-attention cycle. The ...study was conducted during two stages of the pandemic. During the initial stage, travellers’ decision-making process was studied to learn why travellers chose to maintain or cancel travel plans and what variables influenced their travel risk perception. An online survey was conducted with data collected from 1075 travellers residing in 46 countries (52 nationalities). The second stage of the study started at the beginning of de-escalation in Europe. A qualitative study was conducted in which 28 international hospitality experts were interviewed. They were asked about specific measures to encourage tourism from a global perspective. The results help tourism authorities and companies better understand tourist behaviour and provide concrete measures for restarting tourism.
•Travel risk perception has changed since the COVID-19 crisis began.•Decisions to cancel or not to cancel depend on government communications.•Unofficial communications have a negative impact on the decision not to cancel.•Traveller type and experience do not affect the travel decision.•Coordination between countries is key to restarting tourism.
The three-dimensional (3D) path planning of unmanned robots focuses on avoiding collisions with obstacles and finding an optimized path to the target location in a complex three-dimensional ...environment. An improved cuckoo search algorithm based on compact and parallel techniques for three-dimensional path planning problems is proposed. This paper implements the compact cuckoo search algorithm, and then, a new parallel communication strategy is proposed. The compact scheme can effectively save the memory of the unmanned robot. The parallel scheme can increase the accuracy and achieve faster convergence. The proposed algorithm is tested on several selected functions and three-dimensional path planning. Results compared with other methods show that the proposed algorithm can provide more competitive results and achieve more efficient execution.

The purpose of this study is to determine the communication strategy of lecturers in building understanding of PTNBH at the Bandung Institute of Technology. Communication is a fundamental thing in ...human life, even communication becomes a phenomenon for the formation of a society or community integrated by information, where each individual in the society itself shares information sharing to achieve common goals. In simple terms, communication can occur if there is a similarity between the person who conveys the message and the person who receives the message. The research method that researchers use is a descriptive research method with a qualitative type through historical methods, namely research that studies a principle that occurs in the present and in the past based on the traces obtained. As a result of the research that has been carried out, it can be concluded that the things behind ITB implementing its public communication strategy are in building a common understanding of various matters related to the change in the status of PTN to PTN-BH. The institution, in this case the ITB Public Relations, carries out interaction activities through a public communication strategy where everyone can respond to each other and monitor the situation so that a common understanding of the background of changes in the status of the institution is formed; The public communication strategy is also carried out in reducing and providing solutions to the unrest that occurs in the ITB academic community. In this study, stakeholders focused on ITB students Departing from intense interactions, various integrated habits of all ITB academics were constructed to achieve common goals (success)
The magnificent mosque is not necessarily offset the spirit of the prosperity of the mosque. This is different from the Jogokariyan Mosque in Yogyakarta, in addition to congregational prayers it is ...also a center of social activities. The purpose of this study was to analyze the takmir communication strategy to prosper the Jogokariyan Mosque. This study uses interpersonal communication theory with a descriptive qualitative approach. The informants of this study were four people from the Jogokariyan Mosque. The results of this study are the personal approach strategy is one of the keys to success in building the communication process. Mosque takmir communication with the surrounding community, worshipers, and mosque visitors is carried out persuasively. Takmir Masjid also often holds social activities with the community, both Muslim and non-Muslim. Efforts to make the mosque prosperous through a personal approach, through hobbies that are favored by residents who have not yet prayed. Besides, the mosque takmir seeks to maintain the comfort of guests whether worshiping or just stopping by.
Introduction: Coordinated care is planned to be implemented in Poland based on solutions developed in the project "Preparation, testing and implementation of coordinated care in the healthcare ...system, Stage II. Pilot phase – Primary Care PLUS model” co-financed from the European Social Fund under the Operational Program Knowledge Education Development financed under the European Commission Priority Axis 4 and 5. Adequate communication strategy is required to prepare Polish society for a significant change in the health care system, and to help all interested parties learning about the changes planned. Description of policy context and objective: Communication strategy is implemented by the National Health Fund (Narodowy Fundusz Zdrowia - NFZ), supported by The World Bank. A general objective is to create a positive approach to changes in the primary health care by promoting coordinated care as an effective form of medical service. Specific objectives of the project include informing medical entities about procedures necessary for the implementation of coordinated care. Participation in the project means taking a part in thechange in the health care system. Activities targeted at patients involve informing them about the implementation of coordinated care and attempt to create positive approach to the new system model. Activities targeted at medical entities include providing information about progress and results achieved, whereas activities targeted at the general public aim at showing that outpatient clinics and services provided are changing for the better. Communication channels are: project website, Twitter, Facebook, local and national media, online marketing and conferences. Targeted population: Communication strategy developed is targeted at all stakeholders: Ministry of Health, local administration, public officials, 45 medical entities participating in the pilot project, influencers and public opinion. A communication strategy to patients to be used use by participating entities is also prepared and proposed. Highlights: In June 2018 medical entities were chosen for the pilot project. Public opinion and interested parties will become acquainted with the results of the pilot project in October and November 2018. Transferability: Communication strategy can be used in the Stage III of the project – implementation of coordinated care across the country in Poland. Evaluation of the effectiveness of communication strategy can be of value for the future plan of broader implementation and for other countries in the region. Conclusions: Effective implementation of communication strategy requires a well-planned budget and involvement of the NFZ, responsible for the implementation of the strategy. Coherence and effectiveness of the messages depends on the cooperation between the NFZ and the World Bank, which involves meetings and exchange of know-how. Regarding technical aspects of the project, IT support and graphic design support are the most important for developing a project website and preparing information materials.
Chatbots have been applied to computer-mediated communication to replace human agents due to their high efficiency and cost-effectiveness. However, their outcomes are not always desirable, and ...limited guidance exists on how chatbots impact users' perceptions of the communication process. Drawing on cue-filtered-out theories and multiple resource theory, this study investigated the impacts of the communicating agent (chatbot vs. human agent) on anticipated communication quality and the underlying mechanism. Two experimental studies revealed that users' anticipated communication quality was lower with chatbots than with human agents due to the serial mediating role of self-focused attention and user empathy. Moreover, moderation analyses found that a multiple-choice communication strategy for chatbots can enhance users' anticipated communication quality by impacting self-focused attention compared to an open-ended strategy. The findings contribute to the knowledge of the processes driving users’ anticipated communication quality toward chatbot applications and offer managerial implications for chatbots and communication strategies.
•Chatbot significantly reduced users' anticipated communication quality (ACQ).•Self-focused attention and user empathy mediated the impact of chatbot on ACQ in serial.•Multiple-choice strategy moderated the serial-mediating effect of chatbots on ACQ through self-focused attention.
The COVID-19 outbreak led to challenges in framing communication strategy on the part of the government among various stakeholders and especially to the common people. The government communication ...approach should focus on the meaningful participation of people in vulnerable conditions to achieve the best-possible result. The study examines various factors concerning the inclusivity in communication approaches adopted by the government and subsequent media coverage in India during this crisis. The complete nationwide lockdown tenure is selected for the study to recognize the communication strategy of the government and media in the initial phase of the COVID-19 pandemic in India. Two mainstream Indian dailies-The Hindu & The Times of India-have been assessed to analyze the media construction of the pandemic, and 42 websites of central government ministries are also analyzed to frame the nature of governmental communication policy. The study reveals that governmental communication strategies were mainly instructional and confined to the macro level rather than the micro level. During this period, media narratives were mostly associated with governmental initiatives of crisis management. It established government as a powerful social actor while diminishing the voice of other concerned stakeholders in crisis management.
Drawing on the influence of primacy and recency effects in processing information about corporate social responsibility (CSR), the authors examine how internal (customer experience) and external (CSR ...reputation) factors impact the consumer-firm relationship in the presence of contradictory CSR information. Evaluating these factors provides a more comprehensive understanding of how consumers react to unethical and socially irresponsible actions. Contrary to recent research that suggests a reactive CSR communication strategy to be best due to recency effects, the present findings show that past customer experiences with the firm facilitate a ‘primacy effect’. Thus, when corporate social irresponsibility (CSI) occurs, a customer’s prior experiences mitigate negative consequences. Conversely, a firm’s positive CSR reputation may provide goodwill, although it does not guarantee that consumers will process CSR information differently. Therefore, firms cannot build a strong CSR reputation and expect to be immune from the consequences of CSI. Given these new findings of how consumers process contradictory CSR information, firms should implement a strategic and deliberate communication plan that delivers different messages to different stakeholders. Specifically, these findings suggest that firms benefit most from a proactive communication strategy with their current customers and a reactive communication strategy with the general public.
