This study delves into the factors impacting the adoption of true and fair financial reporting during the transition to accrual accounting in Malaysian Federal Statutory Bodies (FSB). Despite ...administrative reforms from the 1980s to the most recent reformation, Malaysia’s public sector performance has lagged, prompting this investigation into the adoption of Malaysian Public Sector Accounting Standards (MPSAS) and accrual accounting in response to the delayed performance of Malaysia's public sector. The research was based on self-administered, Five Likert-scale questionnaires distributed to all heads of public accountants in 132 FSBs. There were 99 questionnaires returned for analysis. The final analysis used 99 usable responses, and the data was analyzed using SPSS. The results indicated significant correlations between Economic Consequences, Political Interventions, and True and Fair View reporting. Economic consequences were found to have the most significant impact on true and fair reporting, supported nuanced relationships, and political interventions. The findings of the regression analysis provided evidence for intricate associations, however, it is important to realize some constraints methods were acknowledged, such as demographic limits and the reliance on quantitative methodologies. The independent Board of Directors (BOD) and the higher-level management ensure those factors, such as the impact of Political Interventions on the reporting process under their scrutiny, as well as take proactive implementation measures to prevent the escalation of the management level from worsening. Top management can ensure that, the economic decisions made have to be thorough, as they dramatically impact reporting. The study provides valuable insights into financial reporting dynamics, suggesting avenues for future research to address identified limitations and incorporate qualitative methodologies.
This study reviews the diffusion of integrated reporting (IR) research. The systematic literature review method is used to review the effects of IR at the organisational level, determinants of IR ...adoption and integrated report quality (IRQ), assurance on IR, economic consequences of IR/IRQ, and research design issues to set agendas for future research. The review covers 119 peer‐reviewed IR articles published in 36 journals between 2012 and 2021. It finds that the IR literature is dominated by organisational‐level studies, but there is limited research on the economic consequences of IR/IRQ, and the findings are inconclusive to date. Further, the factors that determine IR adoption/IRQ are not conclusive, and there is scarce research on IR assurance. This review contributes to the emerging IR literature and provides valuable insights to the International Integrated Reporting Council (IIRC) in establishing the IR framework as a global reporting norm in practice.
In the modern world, borders are often no longer perceived as a barrier, but, on the contrary, become a contact zone for border regions, engaging nations and peoples, their cultures and economies. ...Presumably, at present the remoteness of any area from a country’s center does not imply its cultural or economic backwardness; conversely, it most likely offers additional opportunities for economic and socio-cultural development. This article examines the border regions of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, their cooperation and the consequences of these ties for their socio-economic development. The beginning of the post-Soviet period was characterized by weak economic ties between Tajikistan and Afghanistan due to the civil wars that affected both countries at the time. The countries also lacked the transport infrastructure required for cross-border trade and cooperation. Subsequently, through the efforts of the authorities of the two countries and international organizations, these problems began to be resolved. The article’s scientific novelty lies in the analysis of the socio-demographic development of the border areas in Tajikistan and Afghanistan and the identification of the key forms of ethnocultural interaction of the border population. As a result of the study, the authors identify and characterize the forms of socio-economic and ethnocultural contacts that occur through border trade, commercial migration, education and the integration of refugees into the Tajik community. The significant role of these contacts plays a significant role in the life of the population of the border areas, which are cut off from the centers of their countries. First, it is a mutually complementary process that involves obtaining new knowledge and strengthening ties. Secondly, cross-border trade and commercial migration between Tajikistan and Afghanistan play a vital role in the livelihoods of the respective communities and support the development of border regions, contributing to the development of friendly relations between countries and act as effective methods of fighting poverty, creating new jobs and providing income for the population of the border regions. In addition, the study examined the programs and projects of international organizations that contribute to the development and strengthening of border relations between Tajikistan and Afghanistan in the sphere of border trade and strengthening of security. The authors conducted an observation and a survey at the border market, where residents of the neighboring territories of Tajikistan and Afghanistan come together. The observation revealed that for many households, border markets are the only platforms for earning money.
Abstract With the rapid development of the digital economy, digital mergers and acquisitions (M&A) have become essential means for enterprises to acquire digital technologies and accelerate their ...digital transformation. This paper examines the impact of digital M&A on stock price crash risk using a sample of M&A transactions of China A‐share listed companies from 2010 to 2021. The results show that digital M&A can reduce stock price crash risk after M&A. Further discussions reveal that compared to non‐digital M&A, digital M&A has a better market effect, and the target firms of digital M&A generally are in different industries from the acquirers, have relatively low registered capital, have a shorter registration time, and have better financial performance. Mechanism tests indicate that during the transaction, digital M&A increases the probability of signing earnout contracts and reduces the cash payment ratio. After the transaction, digital M&A increases research and development (R&D) investment and improves R&D investment efficiency, ultimately reducing stock price crash risk. Cross‐sectional tests suggest that in situations with intense market competition, lower digitalization level of the acquirers, and higher business similarity between the acquirer and the target firm, digital M&A is more effective in reducing stock price crash risk. The findings enrich the research on the operational mechanisms and economic consequences of digital M&A, providing theoretical references for regulatory authorities to optimise M&A regulatory policies and for enterprises to assess the benefits and risks of digital M&A.
This study examines the 'The impact of litigation risk and auditor size on auditor conservatism and auditor conservatism on information asymmetry.' This study is applied research, and its design is ...quasi-experimental, using a post-event approach. The statistical population of the study is the companies listed on the Tehran Stock Exchange. The required information was extracted from audited financial statements of 112 companies from 2010 through 2016. The results of this study showed that there is a significant relationship between litigation risk, auditor’s size, and auditor’s conservatism. But there is no significant relationship between auditor’s conservatism and information asymmetry.
During the past years, Iran is facing a severe water shortage crisis due to long droughts and mismanagement of its water resources. Changing the cultivation pattern in order to increase irrigation ...efficiency, not only saves valuable water, but also increases the income of agricultural activities. Based on this, considering the excessive lack of water resources in some parts of Iran, it seems absolutely necessary to investigate the effects of changing the cultivation pattern at the level of villages active in this field. Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze the consequences of changing the pattern of saffron and pistachio cultivation and its impact on the development of rural areas in the villages of Rashtkhwara. This research has been done by descriptive-analytical method. In this regard, the change of cultivation pattern in 377 households living in these villages of the city was investigated. For this purpose, a wide range of indicators were determined along with documentary studies and initial field visits. Then, data collection has been done based on selected indicators and using village and household questionnaires. Statistical and spatial analysis and Expert choice, SPSS, Fazy-Topsis software were also used for data analysis. The findings of the research show that the annual income from pistachio production in 43.9% of the studied households is more than the income of other products. The results of this study show that the indicators of increasing the variety of job opportunities with a coefficient of 0.086 and creating employment opportunities with a coefficient of 0.078 have the highest degree of importance and the method of using poisons with a coefficient of 0.015 and the time and amount of irrigation with a coefficient of 0.010. 0, have the lowest degree of importance. Also, from the analysis of the studied data, it can be concluded that the change of the cultivation pattern has had a significant effect on the improvement of the socio-economic status of the residents of the studied villages.
This study examines the value of voluntary and mandatory disclosure in a market that applies International Accounting Standards (IAS) with limited penalties for non compliance. The lack of ...enforcement creates an element of choice in the level of mandatory disclosure by companies. Using panel-data analysis, our empirical results show that, after controlling for factors such as asset size and profitability, mandatory disclosure has a highly significant but negative relationship with firm value. This result, although puzzling from a traditional perspective, is consistent with the predictions of analytical accounting models, which emphasize the complex interplay of factors determining disclosure effects. Our results also show that voluntary disclosure has a positive but insignificant association with firm value. This lack of statistical significance supports the view that there is a complex interplay of different factors determining the relationship between disclosure and firm value.
