W niniejszym tekście odnosi tę koncepcje do transfeminizmu i postuluje uwolnienie męskości z toksycznego i destrukcyjnego romansu z kapitalizmem. Skoro nikt nie rodzi się mężczyzna, tylko się nim staje, to zawsze może stawać się inaczej, poza ramami wyznaczanymi przez hegemoniczny wzorzec męskości.
Using Stuart Hall's concepts of Identity, Achille Mbembe's Necropolitics, and Slajov Zizek's violence, under Sayak Valencia's “Gore Capitalism” studies, this academic article proposes a comparative ...reading of Rodrigo Ramos' “Ciudad Berraca” and the documentary “A hope without borders” carried out by the Archdiocese of Santiago de Chile, as devices to denounce the practices of capitalism turned into gore, where the migrant subject is considered as an uprooted, reified identity; a life stripped of its humanity, as a disposable product in violent capitalist reproduction
This article examines Goethe's accounting of his war experience in Campagne in Frankreich and Belagerung von Mainz in order to gain a better understanding of his conceptualization of realism. ...Scholars such as Gisela Horn have noted that the texts under discussion limit sentimental-subjective moments in favor of a report of the external world. The reference to Goethe's realistic turn in this context evokes the idea that the very occurrence of a world which we can perceive with our senses guarantees an unmediated access to its reality. However, as Thomas P. Saine and Elizabeth Krimmer have already observed, if there is any impression of immediacy in the war texts, it is a carefully crafted aesthetic construct. In this article, I argue that it is precisely the possibility of the access to reality and the possibility of its adequate representation that Goethe questions in his war reporting. Confronted with an unprecedented brutality of battle, made possible by new artillery power, Goethe's account is deeply indebted to the iconography of battle depictions and highly aware of the mediatisation of war. The reference to this iconography and mediatisation proves that Goethe's war texts are indeed an unsentimental and highly aestheticized, but also an ethically engaged and eventually even emotionally charged comment on the war. Keywords: Goethe, coalition wars, realism, media and war, iconography of war, delightful terror, landscape painting, psychology of aesthetics, memory and mind
Serious iatrogenic vascular injuries are considered uncommon; however, they are underreported. There are limited studies discussing the proper management of these injuries; therefore, the management ...is often anecdotal. A 4-month-old female patient presented with elevated liver enzymes and cholecystitis with sludge. Her HIDA scan suggested biliary atresia. During the surgery, there was a bilateral iatrogenic injury to the hepato-duodenal ligament, including the portal vein, hepatic artery, and bile ducts. The patient underwent splenectomy and cholecystectomy, and the hepatic artery transection was successfully managed with a splenic artery jump graft and a portal vein bypass initiated with the SMV using a Gore-Tex
vascular graft. The management of iatrogenic vascular injury depends primarily on the assessment of the stage of the injury, which should be conducted by experienced surgeons using proper strategies in an established hepato-biliary surgical center. Additionally, there is little data provided in the literature, mostly case reports. Therefore, no preferred or specific approach can be found.
This study evaluated the long term outcomes of endovascular aneurysm repair using the Gore Excluder Low Permeability (LP) endoprosthesis across high volume Dutch hospitals.
A retrospective analysis ...was conducted of patients treated with the Excluder LP for infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) in four hospitals between 2004 and 2017. Primary outcomes were overall survival, freedom from re-interventions (overall, inside and outside instructions for use, IFU), and AAA sac dynamics: growth (> 5 mm), stabilisation, and regression (< 5 mm). Secondary outcomes were technical success (device deployment), procedural parameters, and re-interventions. Follow up visits were extracted from patient files, with imaging assessed for complications and AAA diameter.
Five hundred and fourteen patients were enrolled, with a median (IQR) follow up of 5.0 (2.9, 6.9) years. Survival rates were 94.0% at one year, 73.0% at five years, and 37.0% at 10 years, with freedom from re-interventions of 89.0%, 79.0%, and 71.0%, respectively. 37.9% were treated outside IFU, leading to significantly more re-interventions over 10 years compared with those treated inside IFU (36.0% vs. 25.0%, respectively; p = .044). The aneurysm sac regressed by 53.5% at one year, 65.8% at five years, and 77.8% at 10 years, and grew by 9.8%, 14.3%, and 22.2%, respectively. Patients with one year sac growth had significantly worse survival (p = .047). Seven patients (1.4%) had a ruptured aneurysm during follow up. Over 15 years, type 1a endoleak occurred in 5.3%, type 1b in 3.1%, type 3 in 1.9%, type 4 in 0.2%, and type 2 in 35.6% of patients.
This multicentre study of real world endovascular aneurysm repair data using the Gore Excluder LP endoprosthesis demonstrated robust long term survival and re-intervention rates, despite 37.9% of patients being treated outside IFU, with type 4 endoleak being rare. Treatment outside IFU significantly increased re-intervention rates and one year sac growth was associated with statistically significantly worse survival.
A 65‐year‐old female presented with a foreign body sensation following an asthmatic attack associated with severe coughing. Six years earlier, the patient underwent medialization laryngoplasty (ML), ...which was complicated by a small tear (2 mm) in the right ventricle. One year following this, the patient developed Gore‐Tex extrusion but elected only for partial removal. Healing was complete until 5 years later; on examination, the patient had evidence of Gore‐Tex extrusion through the right ventricle. Implant extrusion is a recognized complication of ML. This case demonstrates several important surgical steps that can benefit otolaryngologists at all stages of their surgical career. Laryngoscope, 129:1420–1422, 2019
This volume questions the motives of Supreme Court justices in a landmark case: The Supreme Court's intervention in the presidential election of 2000, and its subsequent decision in favor of George ...W. Bush, elicited immediate, heated, and widespread debate. Critics argued that the justices used weak legal arguments to overturn the Florida Supreme Court's ruling, ending a ballot recount and awarding the presidency to Bush. More fundamentally, they questioned the motives of conservative judges who arrived at a decision in favor of the candidate who reflected their political leanings.Judging the Supreme Courtexamines this controversial case and the extensive attention it has received. To fully understand the case, Clarke Rountree argues, we must understand "judicial motives." These are comprised of more than each judge's personal opinions. Judges' motives, which Rountree calls "rhetorical performances," are as influential and publicly discussed as their decisions themselves. Before they are dissected in the media, judges' motives are carefully crafted by the decision- makers themselves, their critics, and their defenders. Justices consider not only the motives of the government, of military officials, of criminals, of public speakers, and of others, they also consider, construct, construe, spin, and deconstruct the motives of dissenters (whom they want to show are "misguided"), earlier courts, lower courts, and, especially, themselves.Every judicial opinion is essentially a portrait of motives that says, "Here's what we did and here's why we did it." Well-constructed judicial motives reinforce the idea that we live under "the rule of law," while motives articulated less successfully raise questions about the legitimacy not just of individual judicial decisions but also of our political system and its foundation on an impartial judiciary. InBush v. Gore, Rountree concludes, the judges of the majority opinion were not motivated by judicial concerns about law and justice, but rather by their own political and personal motives.
Porous membranes find natural application in various fields and industries. Water condensation on membranes can block pores, reduce vapour transmissibility, and diminish the porous membranes' ...performance. This research investigates the rate of water vapour transmission through microporous nylon and nanofibrous Gore-Tex membranes. Testing consisted of placing the membrane at the intersection of two chambers with varied initial humidity conditions. One compartment is initially set to a high (

, with changes in humidity recorded as a function of time. The impact of pore blockage was explored by pre-wetting the membranes with water or interposing glycerine onto the membrane pores before testing. Pore blockage was measured using image analysis for the nylon membrane. The mass flow rate of water vapour (ṁv) diffusing through a porous membrane is proportional to both its area (A) and the difference in vapour concentration across its two faces (

, such that

. Liquid contamination on the porous membrane has been shown to reduce the moisture diffusion rate through the membrane due to pore blockage and the subsequent reduced open area available for vapour diffusion. Water evaporation from the membrane's surface was observed to add to the mass of vapour diffusing through the membrane. A model was developed to predict the effect of membrane wetting on vapour diffusion and showed good agreement with experimental data.
