1 July 1523, Hendrik Vos and Johan van den Esschen died by burning at the stake on the Grand-Place in Brussels. They were the first martyrs of the Reformation. Following this event, the Faculty of ...Protestant Theology and Religious Studies (FPTR) in Brussels organized a colloquium to discuss what has changed in the 500 years since the first martyrs of the Reformation. After an historical introduction to set the scene regarding 1 July 1523, this colloquium dealt with the consequences of the Reformation on various and diverse topics that include secularization, the role of women, democracy, virtue ethics, interreligious dialogue, ending with a proposal on how to move forward. This book can be a starting point for further scientific research, especially in the area of secularization, women’s emancipation, and the beginning of the Jewish-Christian dialogue. I recommend this book to anyone interested in the Reformation and its consequences.
The biographical data about the life of deacon Coresi (Coressius) are extremelyfew and it has been admitted, after many debates, studies and analyses, that hewas from Târgoviște, it is supposed that ...he joined a school in Slavonic at DealuMonastery, and that he was the owner of a printing press, yet standing out as askillful printing master. It is also known that he had a son, called Șerban, whomhe taught the art of the printing press. The name of deacon Coresi is mentioned inthe books he had printed in Brașov (during two periods: 1556-1557; 1560-1583,at irregular intervals), Târgoviște (1557-1558), Alba Iulia (1567-1568) and SasSebeș (1580), during five great periods (1556-1558, 1559-1565, 1566-1570,1571-1577, 1578-1583), in Romanian and Slavonic.
Al-Isra’ and mi'raj were sent by Allah to Hz. These are two great miracles bestowed upon the Prophet. The Al-Isra’ İncident is mentioned at the beginning of the verse in Surat Al-Isra’. Therefore, ...this incident is proven in the Qur’an. The incident of the Mi‘raj is a proven incident according to the hadith scholars and it was narrated by the As-Sahabah. Also, the scholars of hadith and tafsir make the relationship between the Mi‘raj incident and the first 18 verses of Surah An-Najm. In other words, the first 18 verses of the chapter of An-Najm refer to Hz. It is considered as the depiction of the mi'raj event that the Prophet lived. We find in İslamic Sources that Surat Al-Najm was revealed at the beginning of the period of Islam in Makkah Al-Mukarramah and the Mi‘raj incident occurred around the time of the Prophet’s migration to Makkah. In this case, anachronism appears between Surat An-Najm and the incident of Mi‘raj which was attributed to the Surah. According to this historical paradox, we conclude that the Mi‘raj has nothing to do with an incident narrated in Surat An-Najm. There is a claim based on the anachronism that the verses of Surat An-Najm mentioned the physical event that occurred in Makkah, not a metaphysical event. For this purpose, some words mentioned in the surah were associated with the geographical structure of Mekkah and ideas related to the material world were expressed around the event. Does the semantic network, conceptual structure, and plot allow the verses to be connected with the physical world? Is it possible to resolve this anachronism by associating the content of the chapter of Najm with another mi'raj event rather than associating it with the material world? These questions will be answered. The time difference between Surat An-Najm and the Mi’raj incident will be analyzed, and also the comments and opinions about the content of the verses in Surat An-Najm will be analyzed.
The article aims at discussing the case studies of the Romanian Orthodox churches in Dublin and the unique Romanian Orthodox monastery in Shannonbridge, Ireland. The general context is that of a ...growing Romanian diaspora in Ireland, hence the necessity of such “informal ambassadors”, in the sense of institutions that are both keepers of Romanianness and mediators for better integration in Irish society. We will also offer an overview of the collaboration between the Romanian churches and the Embassy in Dublin for the benefit of the Romanian diasporic community.

On December 8, 1870, the Patron ...of the Universal Church was proclaimed as the inspiration for a systematic reflection on the person and life of Saint Joseph, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. The period between the Vatican Councils is referred to as the golden age of Josephology. A major foundation of the devotion to Saint Joseph, which was emphasized at this time, was the fact that he was, according to God's will, the bridegroom of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the foster father of Jesus Christ.

Personal agnosticism and subjective disavowal constitute the new hermeneutic grid,in Postmodernism, although the same tendencies are found in the exegesis of the Enlightenment, (neo) Marxism or theological Liberalism. The recontextualization and deliberate omission of data that are themselves part of the process of historical evidence seem to be the new trend of academic interpretation under the auspices of a single principle of sola ratio.
This volume contains the proceedings of an international conference on the diplomatics of medieval papal documents held in 2019 at the German Historical Institute in Paris. From the pontificate of ...Alexander III (1159-1181) at the latest, direct appeals to the Roman curia, permitted even to lay people, reinforced the pope’s jurisdictional primacy and contributed to the proliferation and wide distribution of papal acts, which numbered some 30,000 by the end of the twelfth century. The papers deal with a number of topics touching on papal history, including new techniques for the analysis of papal acts and regional variations in their issuance. Particular attention is paid to France, whose papal charters the German Historical Institute in Paris is analyzing in the Gallia Pontificia.
