Este artículo tiene por objetivo identificar las prácticas de consumo colaborativo de servicios de hospedaje ofrecidos por hostales de la localidad de la Candelaria, en la ciudad de Bogotá. Para tal ...fin se analizó una muestra de 57 hostales mediante encuestas. Se usó una metodología descriptiva y exploratoria con enfoque mixto, en la que se aplicó la triangulación metodológica para cotejar los hallazgos de las encuestas y las entrevistas a cuatro expertos en el tema. Los principales hallazgos muestran que los hostales se caracterizan por no tener más de diez años de actividades comerciales, por emplear a un bajo número de empleados, y tener administradores empíricos en la alta dirección. Además, se encontró que los hostales sí ofrecen servicios de consumo colaborativo.
Este artigo tem como objetivo analisar e confirmar as caraterísticas determinantes na escolha de hostels na cidade do Porto, em Portugal. Foi efetuado um inquérito que foi respondido por 208 hóspedes ...deste tipo de equipamento hoteleiro. Os hostels estão integrados num segmento low cost, tratando-se por isso de um local de hospedagem barato, para hóspedes que não procuram o luxo, sendo por isso associados a turismo de jovens mochileiros. A análise confirmatória efetuada apresenta oito fatores que estão na base da sua escolha e são: a segurança geral do hostel, a limpeza do hostel, o mobiliário básico do hostel, os serviços de apoio aos hóspedes, o design e ambiente, as externalidades positivas de localização, o convívio e entretenimento dos hóspedes e a segurança física objetiva dos hostels. Trata-se de uma análise confirmatória, onde os trinta e oito itens agrupados em oito fatores, são um forte contributo para o estudo do tema, devendo merecer a atenção por parte dos gestores destas unidades hoteleiras, dos investidores e do público em geral.
This study is based on some personal problems of students studying at secondary level in residential schools. This study adopted a descriptive survey method to analyze the data collected through a ...self-constructed questionnaire based on their personal problems like homesickness, adjustment, personal development, and available facilities in the hostels. Self-constructed tool was reliable and validate and got administered on students of secondary level at residential schools of Jaipur and Dausa district of Rajasthan state. Major findings revealed that maximum students miss their home, have unsuitable lodging, facing improper behavior of wardens’ and lacking in personality as well as physical development activities in residential schools. It is recommended that residential schools should create a family environment, exclusively focus on providing suitable and comfortable accommodations, give proper attention towards the ethical roles and behavior of appointed wardens and put sincere efforts for holistic development of students by planning correlated activities in residential schools.
The bookings and revenues of youth hostels have significantly decreased because of the multiple effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is necessary to investigate young consumers' perceptions of ...visiting youth hostels aftermath this pandemic. The current study examines the relationship between multi-dimensions of perceived risk, three types of images, willingness to pay and visit intention. A convenience sampling was developed where 534 questionnaires were received, followed by subsequent empirical testing of the proposed hypotheses using SPSS and AMOS-SEM. Results showed that perceived risk negatively influenced cognitive and affective image, respectively. Cognitive and affective image positively influenced overall image and finally influenced willingness to pay and visit intention separately. In addition, cognitive image positively influenced affective image. The theoretical framework satisfactorily accounted for willingness to pay and intention, and our results help youth hostels practitioners invent efficient strategies to boost young consumers' willingness to pay and intention to visit youth hostels.
Older people are increasingly dependent on others to support their daily activities due to geriatric symptoms such as dementia. Some of them stay in long-term care facilities. Elderly people with ...night wandering behaviour may lose their way, leading to a significant risk of injuries. The eNightLog system was developed to monitor the night-time bedside activities of older people in order to help them cope with this issue. It comprises a 3D time-of-flight near-infrared sensor and an ultra-wideband sensor for detecting human presence and to determine postures without a video camera. A threshold-based algorithm was developed to classify different activities, such as leaving the bed. The system is able to send alarm messages to caregivers if an elderly user performs undesirable activities. In this study, 17 sets of eNightLog systems were installed in an elderly hostel with 17 beds in 9 bedrooms. During the three-month field test, 26 older people with different periods of stay were included in the study. The accuracy, sensitivity and specificity of detecting non-assisted bed-leaving events was 99.8%, 100%, and 99.6%, respectively. There were only three false alarms out of 2762 bed-exiting events. Our results demonstrated that the eNightLog system is sufficiently accurate to be applied in the hostel environment. Machine learning with instance segmentation and online learning will enable the system to be used for widely different environments and people, with improvements to be made in future studies.
The objective of this research is to study foreign tourists’ satisfaction that stay in 3 hostels located in Sukhumvit, Bangkok. The information used for analysis are from the questionnaires from the ...sample group (60 persons). The method used for study is Descriptive Statistics which including the percentage, the average, the standard deviation, and the ANOVA. The result of the research has found that foreign tourists, who stay at the hostels located in Sukhumvit, from the sample group mostly are male and single. Their average of age is 20-29 years old. They mostly are student who come from Europe and study in university and college. Foreign tourists’ behavior and experience; most of sample group mostly come to visit Thailand for the first time and have time to stay in for 1-3 days and 4-7 days. They chose to stay in mixed room. More than half of the sample group came here alone and got the information about hostel from the internet. The most important thing to make decision to select a hostel is the price, location, and safety. The satisfaction in the marketing mix of foreign tourists has found that the satisfaction of the sample group is in the high level in every factor. T-test has demonstrated that personal factor effects on the decision to select a hostel and the foreign tourists’ decision depends on the marketing mix.
Hyperphagia leading to severe obesity with increased morbidity and mortality is the major manifestation of Prader‐Willi syndrome. Caring for these individuals in a home environment is challenging and ...stressful for caregivers and families. Residential hostels specifically for PWS adults offer programs of diet, exercise, and vocational opportunities, but long‐term effects of PWS hostel living have not been reported. We studied long‐term changes in body mass index (BMI) for PWS adults living in residential hostels compared with age‐matched controls living with families at home. The study included all 34 individuals (18 men) aged >17 years with genetically confirmed PWS living in residential hostels. BMI was recorded at the time of yearly clinic visits and compared to 23 PWS adults (10 men) living at home. BMI on entering the hostel was 36.3 ± 11.0 kg/m2 and decreased to 27.0 ± 5.6 kg/m2 (p < 0.001) after 6.9 ± 3.9 years. For 21 residents, a slight rise of BMI to 28.8 kg/m2 was observed 5.1 ± 2.5 years after the lowest value was achieved. BMI of 23 PWS adults at home was 36.8 ± 12.7 kg/m2 versus 27.9 ± 7.1 kg/m2 for hostel residents in the same age range (p = 0.008). From 2008 to 2019, there were five deaths among PWS individuals aged 18–40 years living at home, compared with one death (a 43‐year‐old man) among hostel residents. Adults with PWS living in hostels lose weight, maintain BMI values in a normal to mildly overweight range, and have lower mortality in contrast to individuals in a family home environment.
