In the era industrial revolution 4.0 and the development of online-based learning systems, lecturers are required to be more creative and innovative. This study aims to examine the effect of ...psychological empowerment and intergenerational learning on the innovative work behavior of lecturers with a climate of age diversity as a mediating variable. The type of this research is explanatory research. The population of this research is lecturers from private universities in Central Java. By using accidental sampling, obtained 152 lecturers who became respondents in this study. The data analysis technique used the Partial Least Square (PLS) test using the SmartPLS. The results of the study revealed that psychological empowerment and intergenerational learning had a significant and positive effect on lecturers' innovative work behavior. However, the climate of age diversity was found not to be a fully mediating variable on innovative work behavior. The results of this study provide managerial implications that it is important in the work environment of higher institution to apply psychological empowerment practices towards lecturers to improve lecturers' innovative work behavior. In addition, the efforts to encourage learning between lecturers of different generations are also important.
We evaluate the direct and indirect effects of an environmental educational program with value-laded content on children's and parents' knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding the consumption ...and disposal of plastics. We do this using a randomized field experiment targeting fourth-grade children in Chile. The educational program had a sizeable and a positive impact on children’ knowledge, attitudes, and practices, but no effect on parents' behavior.Heterogeneous effects indicate that the program had a larger effect among children in more vulnerable schools, but there was still no effect on parents. Finally, because parents may ultimately determine what constitutes acceptable behavior for children, promoting permanent changes in behavior will require interventions of this sort to be complemented with other initiatives targeting parents.
•Changing people's attitudes is an important first step in addressing environmental issues.•This paper evaluates the effects of an environmental education campaign.•We find a sizeable effect on children's knowledge, attitudes, and practices.•However, we do not find any evidence of a spillover effect on the parents' behavior.•Then, interventions targeting children should be reinforced in various ways to achieve long-term impacts.
Increasing life expectancy and inclusion of older people in care system changes the intergenerational communication. Various professionals such as social workers and caregivers take care of older ...people needs. Little attention is paid to intergenerational learning and education in social care organizations despite it may help to overcome feeling of loneliness among older people. Loneliness is a negative emotion associated with a perceived gap between existing relationships and desired ones. It is widely recognized as one among the most significant and entrenched issues facing our aging society. The effect of loneliness is harmful to health and increases the risk of disability. Intergenerational links have been identified as an important issue in elderly care. Educational activities for the elderly are offered in various social care institutions in Lithuania. The research data reveal several predominant topics that would be relevant to older learners, such as loneliness, activity of older people, and communication.

In intergenerational projects, learning a craft is an activity that may be of interest to people of different ages. This paper focuses on knitting as a craft. In most Western societies, knitting is ...often considered a craft for women, but on Taquile Island, Peru, it is the men who knit. This paper discusses knitting from an intergenerational perspective whilst focusing on gender and culture. To this aim, we introduce an intrinsic case study to examine the role of gender and culture in intergenerational learning. The data used in this study was collected during a visit to Taquile Island. In summary, the study’s findings reveal that (i) on Taquile, members of the community invest in maintaining cultural traditions in opposition to being swept along by (con)temporary social changes; (ii) knitting on Taquile is approached as a practical technique in contrast to Western culture where knitting is connected to the concept of ‘well-being’; and (iii) whilst gender structures may set frames for performance, the Taquile case demonstrates that what is typically considered ‘male’ or ‘female’ may vary.
The intergenerational program "Elderly with Children" is carried out from 2002 at a care home for the elderly in the city of Maó, Spain. All early childhood schools on the island have been invited to ...participate. The practitioner in charge of this initiative consisting of visits and learning activities around life experience, traditions and customs, describes in detail the main features of the program as well as how it has been planned and implemented. Obviously, program's achievements reach both the elderly people and the children. However, a not so obvious 'cluster effect' is described as the program has been able to reach out to teachers and families. The former have noticed the motivational impact that the elderly people's presence has on both children and teachers themselves, while the latter have become more aware of elderly people and how they should be included in the community. Recommendations for practice are presented for other practitioners to gain inspiration from this particular program.
Objectives:
The effectiveness of Intergenerational Mentor-Up (IMU), an innovative intervention that engages college students in tutoring older adults, was examined with regard to eHealthy literacy ...and social isolation.
Method:
A total of 55 older adults (mean age = 73.82) participated in the six-session IMU tutorials. In this mixed methods study, quantitative and qualitative data were collected in a parallel fashion. Participants were interviewed after participating in the IMU.
Results:
Older adults presented significant improvement between pre- and postsurveys in various outcomes such as eHealth literacy, technophobia, self-efficacy, and interest in technology. Intergenerational interaction brought about by IMU helped to decrease social isolation among older adults. Qualitative data revealed that individualized training, modifications, adaptations, and intergenerational interactions can decrease their anxiety and boost their confidence.
Discussion:
Study findings enable the identification of the training needs to help close the digital divide and allow these older adults to reap the benefits of technology use.
There is a long tradition of intergenerational transfer of knowledge in Nepali communities. While local languages are seen as crucial means for preserving, transmitting and applying traditional ...knowledge, ongoing social change has raised concern that local languages and knowledge as foundations of learning and cultural identity are being weakened. This paper, based on ethnographic fieldwork in Brahmin-Kshatriya and Chamling Rai communities in the western and eastern hill districts of Nepal, contributes insights on indigenous intergenerational learning by exploring the literacy, language and learning strategies of eight local families. To ease the accessibility of traditional knowledge to the younger generations, they opt for creative and innovative ways of using bilingual approaches, different scripts and translanguaging. The article discusses how the identified indigenous intergenerational practices can contribute to better address the learning needs of local communities. Building on such local practices supports an alternative approach to literacy and language in intergenerational learning.
In this qualitative study we look at knowledge brokering from an intergenerational teacher perspective. This study aims at describing how teachers perceive colleagues from other generations in terms ...of knowledge demands and knowledge supplies, and how processes of knowledge-sharing across teachers of different generations take place. Our findings suggest that teachers' perceptions about skills and knowledge of colleagues from other generations can be understood as knowledge demands and supplies and that knowledge flow between knowledge demands and supplies can be affected by perceptions about teachers' attitudes. Furthermore, our findings exemplify the occurrence of intergenerational knowledge brokerage processes within school teams.
•Subject knowledge and classroom management skills are seen as supplies of old teachers.•Innovative teaching methods and ICT skills are seen as supplies of young teachers.•Perceived teachers' attitudes might affect flows of knowledge demands and supplies.•A large variety of intergenerational knowledge brokerage activities is found.•Processes of socialization, externalization, combination, and internalization occur.
This study employs the therapeutic landscape theory to explore how online religious services during lockdown restrictions shape experiences of well-being and intergenerational learning. We used ...qualitative data from in depth interviews and focus groups with older adults and pastors in five churches in Ghana to explore how online religious places are conceptualized as therapeutic landscapes for sustaining wellbeing goals amidst a global pandemic. We identified multiple pathways of meaning through which online religious services shape the lives of people in a faith community to sustain the experience of well-being in a difficult time. In addition, this paper reflects on the broader implications of COVID-19 in shaping a paradigm shift in digital religion and intergenerational learning experiences through a changing religious landscape precipitated by lockdown restrictions that have drastically altered traditional religious places.
