The aim of this study was to determine the effect of aromatherapy and Su Jok interventions as nonpharmacological methods of relieving pain after cesarean section.
This randomized controlled trial was ...conducted with 120 women who had cesarean delivery in the gynecology and obstetrics department of a training and research hospital between February 9 and October 2, 2019. The participants were allocated to the aromatherapy group, Su Jok group, Su Jok and aromatherapy group, or control group using block randomization based on parity. Su Jok was performed using buckwheat seed; aromatherapy was applied using lavender, eucalyptus, or rose oil. Data were collected using a participant information form and pain was assessed using the Visual Analog Scale.
There was no significant difference between the groups in mean pain levels before or after the intervention, although the control group had less initial pain compared to the intervention groups. However, all three intervention groups showed significant decreases in pain levels immediately and 30 min after the intervention compared to pre-intervention levels (p < 0.05). The intervention in all three groups reduced the level of pain. In particular, the pain level of the Su Jok group reached from moderate to mild. There was no significant change in the control group.
Aromatherapy and Su Jok interventions performed separately and simultaneously in addition to routine hospital care were more effective in reducing post-cesarean pain than routine care alone.
•Pain after cesarean section is one of the most common problems experienced by mothers.•Some non-pharmacological methods can be effective in pain management after cesarean section.•Aromatherapy and Su Jok are effective methods in reducing pain.
The Covid-19 pandemic has led people who were non-COVID-19 patient to avoid hospital admission and to seek help from alternative medicine. The aim of this report is to describe the management of ...chest pain at home using Su Jok therapy.
Case report:
A male 47 of years old complained of chest pain with difficulty breathing and asked for help from the researcher who was a nurse as well as Su Jok therapist. His sclera profile was recorded for analysis (sclerology analysis). Su Jok therapy was applied directly by the researcher on daily basis. Researcher also monitored his condition progress through checking pain point on his hands and also from his sclera profile. After two weeks, the symptoms subsided and the eye’s profile of sclera shows healing progress.
Conclusion:
The case study shows that Su Jok therapy may become an alternative therapy for managing chest pain.
Background: The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in people avoiding hospital admission for non-COVID patients and forcing people to seek help via telehealth or alternative medicine.
Case study: A ...30-year-old man from Solo, Indonesia, complained of left chest discomfort with an irregular heartbeat. This man sent an inquiry and his left eye sclera profile through WhatsApp on July 20, 2020 to a researcher, who is a nurse and “Su jok” therapist. Protocol for “Su jok” therapy was sent back through WhatsApp, and after applying the treatment for 30 minutes, the patient felt better, and symptoms were less severe. The full protocol to be applied for the following days was then sent to the patient. After three weeks, there was a less sharp red line in the sclera area of the vessel blockage, and he only experienced mild symptoms.
Conclusion: The case study shows that “Su jok” therapy may become an alternative therapy for managing chest pain at home. Sclerology can be a complementary choice to monitor a patient’s heart condition. Visiting the hospital, however, is still necessary when the symptoms become worse.
This study aimed to evaluate pain levels before and after Su Jok therapy.
This research was a retrospective study from data collected in September–December 2019 in Indonesia. A total of 33 females ...and 13 males complaining of physical pain when visiting community services’ activities and treated by a certified Su Jok therapist were included in this study. Physical pain scale was analyzed before and after therapy. Wilcoxon signed-rank tests were used for statistical analysis.
As many as 57 physical complaints were recorded from 46 respondents. The most common area of pain was the extremities (32%). The types of therapy were energy therapy, correspondence therapy and combined therapy (energy and correspondence therapy). Combination therapy had 100% success in reducing the pain scale. There were significant differences in pain level before and after Su Jok therapy (p < 0.01).
Su Jok therapy provides an effective treatment in reducing pain.
•Pain is a phenomenon which all human beings will experience in some stage of their life.•There are various types of pain managements which continue to be developed.•Su Jok therapy can be an alternative to reduce pain which is easy, inexpensive and provides quick results.
A quasi-experiment of 56 patients with hydrosalpinx diagnosis that went to the Natural and Traditional Medicine Service of "Dr. Juan Bruno Zayas Alfonso" Teaching General Hospital in Santiago de ...Cuba - referred from the Gynecology and Infertility Services -, was carried out from September, 2014 to December, 2015, to evaluate the response to Su Jok therapy. Among the analyzed variables there were: age, risk factors, clinical features, traditional syndromes, clinical course and response to the treatment. In the case material there was a prevalence of women aged 30-39, pelvic inflammatory disease and sexually transmitted infections as pathological history (71.4%), pain and vaginal secretion as main symptoms, as well as Qi liver stagnation, not firm Qi kidney and coldness - humidity in spleen as most frequent syndromes. Finally, there was a favorable clinical course and an appropriate response to the treatment.
This qualitative study explores Korean transnational families, known as gireogi gah-jok. In this type of family, the mother and her children move to an English-speaking country for the children's ...education while the father stays and supports his family financially from the country of origin. We conducted interviews with thirteen mothers who resided with at least one adolescent child in the northwest area of the USA. Guided by symbolic interactionism, we examined how women perceived the gireogi family situation separated in the two countries and how their perception influenced their maternal roles as gireogi mothers. Findings indicate that these women reshaped their maternal self and renegotiated gendered roles in response to their residence in the foreign country and physical separation from their husbands. The findings also suggest that participants made an effort to maintain family cohesion by frequent communication using technology and sporadic reunions.
Intrinsic permeability is crucial to assess gases and volatile compounds transport through soil. In situ measurements of this parameter are based on Darcy equation, an empirical relation that ...describes the flow of a fluid through a porous medium. A new technique for in situ measurement of soil gas permeability was developed and deeply tested in several terrains. The new instrument was successfully calibrated against RADON JOK, a permeameter which is widely employed all over the world. The new device provides rapid responses and is easy to carry in the field. It can be employed in the range of 3×10−13–8.0×10−11m2, extending the upper detection limit of RADON JOK (1.8×10−11). Its use is recommended to investigate radon and other gas transfer through the soil and to map radon or CO2 potentials of a given site. It could be also employed in environmental studies where the transfer of volatile pollutants is of primary concern.
