Ovaj rad ispituje utjecaj diverzifikacije izvoza na rast ukupne produktivnosti faktora proizvodnje tristo najvećih izvoznika u Republici Hrvatskoj grupiranih u 13 industrijskih sektora. U radu se ...koriste godišnji financijski podaci poduzeća za razdoblje od 2006. do 2015. godine agregirani na sektorsku razinu. Empirijska analiza se koristi panel kointegracijom (PMG/ARDL) kako bi ispitala učinak diverzifikacije izvoza u kratkom i dugom roku na ukupnu produktivnost faktora proizvodnje. Diverzifikacija izvoza mjeri se sektorskom klasifikacijom koncentracije vrijednosti izvoza za što se koristi Herfmdahl-Hirschmanov indeks. Rezultati pokazuju dugoročnu kointegraciju koncentracije izvoza i ukupne produktivnosti faktora proizvodnje pri čemu veća koncentracija izvoza vodi većoj produktivnosti faktora proizvodnje. Ograničenja ovog istraživanja uključuju vremenski okvir analize zbog nemogućnosti pristupa podacima nakon 2015. godine, te mjeru diverzifikacije izvoza koja se može promatrati u odnosu na izvoz pojedinog industrijskog sektora, proizvoda ili na odredena geografska područja, pri čemu su posljednje dvije mjere izostavljene iz analize zbog nemogućnosti pristupa podacima.
Purpose: This paper re-investigates causality between military spending and economic growth by applying autoregressive distributed lag model or ARDL bounds testing approach to cointegration. ...Furthermore, rolling window approach (RWA) to cointegration is also applied to confirm the established long run relation between the variables. The VECM Granger causality is used to detect the direction of causality between military spending and economic growth. Our empirical exercise indicated long run relationship between military spending and economic growth as confirmed by rolling window approach. Moreover, negative unidirectional causality is found running from defense spending to economic growth. This paper opens up new sights for policy-making authorities to sustain economic growth by curtailing defense spending.
This paper examined the causal relationship between tourism and economic growth in Malaysia by using panel time-series approach. Results from the panel coi ntegration analysis suggest the existence ...of cointegration between international tourism receipts and real economic growth. Results of the panel causality test based on the error correction model show Granger causality running from international tourism receipts to real economic growth indicating the existence of both short- and long-run relationship between the two. The results provide evidence of the significance contribution of tourism industry to Malaysia's economic growth justifying the necessity of public intervention in providing tourism infrastructure and facilities.
The paper investigates the long run relationship and causality issues between firm size and profitability in 66 firms in Nigeria by using the panel cointegration method for the period 1999 -2007. The ...empirical results show that there is long run steady-state relationship between firm size and profitability. The short run causal relationship shows that there is bidirectional relationship between firms' size and profitability. This implies that firm size Granger causes profitability and profitability Granger causes firm size. The results clearly refute the general assumption that causation runs from only firm size to profitability on which most existing studies have been based.

The relationship between savings and investment is one of the fundamental issues in international economics. This topic comes in the centre of attention after pioneering work of Feldstein and Horioka ...(1980). The aim of the paper is testing of the Feldstein-Horioka puzzle in the case of Croatia since 1994. Johansen's cointegration approach and Granger causality test were used. In order to determine the dynamics of the savings-investment relation econometric VAR model was introduced. Using innovation analysis impulse response functions and variance decomposition analysis of the observed variables were given.
U radu se istražuju odrednice kretanja tekućeg računa platne bilance Republike Hrvatske primjenom monetarnog apsorpcijskog pristupa platnoj bilanci. Glavna hipoteza rada pretpostavlja da se tekući ...račun platne bilance u Republici Hrvatskoj može objasniti unutar analitičkog okvira koji se temelji na monetarnom i apsorpcijskom pristupu analizi platne bilance. U radu se primjenjuje suvremeni ekonometrijski pristup nelinearne auto-regresije s distribuiranim pomacima (NARDL) koji uzima u obzir nelinearnu i asimetričnu prirodu odnosa između tekućeg računa platne bilance u Republici Hrvatskoj i njegovih determinanti. Procijenjeni rezultati na tromjesečnom uzorku podataka od prvog tromjesečja 2000. do drugog tromjesečja 2017. godine podupiru glavnu istraživačku hipotezu i potvrđuju da se tekući račun platne bilance Republike Hrvatske može objasniti korištenjem analitičkog okvira utemeljenog na monetarnom i apsorpcijskom pristupu. Domaća potražnja, realni tečajni indeks, te krediti privatnom sektoru i monetarni agregati M4 testirani su kao odrednice tekućeg računa platne bilance Republike Hrvatske. Utvrđeno je da monetarni agregati M4 imaju najveću objašnjavajuću snagu među istraženim monetarnim varijablama. Glavni nalazi ovog rada upućuju na potrebu za mjerama fiskalne politike i uklanjanje ograničenja hrvatskim izvoznicima u pristupu likvidnim sredstvima kako bi se uspostavila vanjska ravnoteža.
Being a small open economy, Nigeria requires imports, such as capital and intermediate goods to grow and develop. This paper uses a time series econometric technique, precisely the error-correction ...mechanism, to identify the factors responsible for import demand. The results show that imports, income and relative prices are all cointegrated. The econometric estimates of the import-demand function for Nigeria suggests that import demand is largely determined by real income (GDP) and less sensitive to relative prices. In addition, the structural policy shift to liberalization since 1986 is found to have little but significant impact on import demand. Development of local industries with low import content is suggested given that exchange rate policy and devaluation generally are likely to be ineffective in influencing import demand of Nigeria.
This paper aims to analyze an investment strategy employed by particular equity investment fund in Croatia, i.e. to detect the fraction of passive funds which claim to be active. In order to test for ...bilateral long-run co-movements between fifteen selected mutual funds and CROBEX in time period from their start to the end of 2009, we use bivariate Johansen cointegration procedure. Results reveal that most of the Croatian equity funds share long run comovements with benchmark equity market index, representing the "closet indexers". Obtained results are to some extent unexpected given spotted inefficiencies on Croatian equity market that should have been exploited by active stock pickers.
