In the period between the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century, Bosniak literary science found itself, like its literature a century earlier, in proving its own identity. The recent ...generation of Bosnian-Herzegovinian theorists confirms in numerous studies the validity of the application of different literary-theoretical concepts in the study of the Bosniak literary past, with identity issues in literature being among the most important. In this regard, the paper will focus on two important issues. The first is the decades-long neglect of Bosniak literature and, consequently, the scientific exploration of its structural-poetic features. The second question, which the paper will attempt to answer, was raised in the study 'Literature and the Identities' by Vedad Spahić. This theorist believes that the most significant moments of literary science are when it reveals the deep structures of the whole culture while talking about literature. Apart from Spahić, the corpus of literature includes the studies by Enes Duraković, Sanjin Kodrić, and other theorists of the 21st century. Their works confirm that Bosniak literary identity today exists in areas distorted borders strict autonomy of literary science.
The summary is dedicated to the recently published monography "Zagreb Stylistic School" by Dubravka Oraić Tolić. The academic writes about the golden age of Croatian literary science related to the ...establishment and work of the Zagreb Stylistic School, which emerged in the 1950s. Following the "rise and fall" of the School, she discusses the institutions founded by the School, its types and methods of work, and especially the contribution of its founders and followers (Škreb, Flaker, Frangeš, and Žmegač). Oraić Tolić successfully presents to the modern reader the social and political context in which the School grew and built its national identity. In this respect, she is inspiring in contemplating the dissemination of knowledge in the field of national identification, the principles and boundaries of text analysis, the declarative program (paradigms of approach to literary works), and deviations.
The first publisher of Silent Spring reportedly said that Rachel Carson made concern about pesticides into "literature." What keeps Silent Spring in print today is not the details of the science she ...includes, current in the mid twentieth century, but how she helps readers think about scientific issues as accessible and transformational for them. Carson was also bluntly candid when she needed to be: "A quarter century ago, cancer in children was considered a medical rarity. Today, more American school children die of cancer than from any other disease." Carson could change tone, pace, and rhetorical strategies as needed, to make her arguments effective and memorable-and we can learn from that how to reach a general public now once more ignorant of danger surrounding them.
Osrednji slovenski literarni časopis je izhajal mesečno. Po prenehanju izhajanja Stritarjevega časnika Zvona, so Josip Jurčič, Fran Levec, Janko Kersnik in Ivan Tavčar ustanovili literarno ...svobodomiselno revijo, sprva kot glasilo realistov. Poleg leposlovja, je vseboval tudi umetniško kritiko ter razprave in eseje o umetnostih. Sprva je bil bolj znanstveno usmerjen (Leposlovni in znanstveni list), kasneje se je omejil še na humanistiko (Mesečnik za književnost in prosveto), od 1931 (Slovenska revija) je objavljal tudi prispevke o aktualnih družbenih vprašanjih. V Ljubljanskem zvonu so objavljali pomembnejši slovenski pesniki in pisatelji: Anton Aškerc, Simon Gregorčič, Janko Kersnik, Ivan Tavčar, Janez Trdina, Oton Župančič, Ivan Cankar, Vladimir Bartol… Avtorji, ki so pisali o znanosti so bili: Fran levstik, Josip Apih, Ivan Šubic…
