•A novel sensitive gold staining-based love wave immunosensor was established to detect okadaic acid (OA).•OA-BSA conjugates was immobilized on the surface by anti-BSA antibody and SPA.•The proposed ...method presents an acceptable recoveries in the detection of OA in real sample.•This immunosensor has a wide linear detection range (10–150ng/mL).
This work describes an immunosensor for the determination of okadaic acid (OA) using a Love-wave sensor with the immunogold staining method. In this assay, OA-BSA was captured by the anti-BSA antibody (BSA-MAb) bond with staphylococcal protein A (SPA) on the sensor surface via Fc regions. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) and electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) were employed to monitor the fabrication steps of immunosensor using the redox probe of K3Fe(CN)6. An indirect competitive immunoassay format was employed to detect OA after the immunosensor was prepared and gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) were introduced to amplify the phase signal. The results demonstrated that developed immunosensor was able to specifically respond to OA ranging from 10 to 150ng/mL, providing limit of detection of 5.5ng/mL. When applied to determine OA concentration in real sample, the results agreed well with those obtained by the commercial ELISA assay. The developed immunosensor is therefore suitable and has great application potential in detection of OA in shellfish.

In 1815 a manuscript containing one of the long-lost treasures of antiquity was discovered—the letters of Marcus Cornelius Fronto, reputed to have been one of the greatest Roman orators. But this ...find disappointed many nineteenth-century readers, who had hoped for the letters to convey all of the political drama of Cicero’s. That the collection included passionate love letters between Fronto and the future emperor Marcus Aurelius was politely ignored—or concealed. And for almost two hundred years these letters have lain hidden in plain sight. Marcus Aurelius in Love rescues these letters from obscurity and returns them to the public eye. The story of Marcus and Fronto began in 139 CE when Fronto was selected to instruct Marcus in rhetoric. Marcus was eighteen then and by all appearances the pupil and teacher fell in love. Spanning the years in which the relationship flowered and died, these are the only love letters to survive from antiquity—homoerotic or otherwise. With a translation that reproduces the effusive, slangy style of the young prince and the rhetorical flourishes of his master, the letters between Marcus and Fronto will rightfully be reconsidered as key documents in the study of the history of sexuality and classics.

The publications discussed here allow a few generalizations: On the one hand, the thesis of a differentiated understanding of friendship between the actors is confirmed: Most respondents distinguish ...between instrumental, rather distant contacts and close, non-instrumental friendships. In Flick, this differentiation is reflected in the delineation of the genuine "old" friendships compared to the mostly work-related "new" friends and friends; At Marquardsen, she shows herself more in the concrete practices of respondents who actively end relationships when they no longer provide the desired support and recognition. But these boundaries are by no means static. Based on which criteria do individuals distinguish between friendship and other close relationships? And when are these limits crossed (for example, when colleagues become good friends)?
„Arranged Love“ deals with cross-cultural differences in understanding romantic love. All over the world we can find ideas of romantic love expressed by arts, poetry or material objects. The present ...publication attempts to show the varieties of romantic love exemplified by artifacts of Ethnographical collection of the Göttingen University’s Institute for Cultural and Social Anthropology.
