El presente trabajo validó el fortalecimiento del suelo abdominal y su importancia para la mejora de la calidad de vida laboral en secretarias universitarias, a través de programa de ejercicios ...hipopresivos, relacionando el índice de masa corporal con la evaluación de la fuerza estabilizadora abdominal o Test de Core. La investigación partió de los estudios asociados a ejercicios hipopresivos en deportistas, pacientes y parturientas, fue predominantemente exploratoria y explicativa, con un enfoque de estudio de caso y concebida como investigación cuasiexperimental, transversal y relacional, donde se aplicaron los métodos de análisis y síntesis, modelación y estadístico matemático. Se determinó la relación entre el programa de ejercicios hipopresivos para el fortalecimiento del suelo abdominal y la mejora de la calidad de vida laboral desde la perspectiva de salud. La correlación entre la masa corporal e índice de Core es lineal positiva débil, donde la tendencia al aplicar los ejercicios del estado normal a la pre-obesidad. Al evaluar la fuerza estabilizadora, se muestra la transición a mejores ratios. Se sugiere asumir la investigación en calidad de herramienta para el monitoreo de la salud en trabajadores de servicios a través de los ejercicios hipopresivos.
Latar belakang. Salah satu dampak obesitas pada anak adalah terjadinya diabetes tipe-2 yang didahuluioleh terjadinya resistensi insulin. Belum diketahui apakah tingkat keparahan resistensi insulin ...semakinmeningkat seiring dengan meningkatnya indeks massa tubuh (IMT) pada anak obes.Tujuan. Mengetahui hubungan antara IMT dengan resistensi insulin pada anak obes.Metode. Suatu penelitian observasional potong lintang yang dilaksanakan di Kecamatan Wenang, KotaManado, Oktober 2009 sampai Januari 2010. Dilakukan pemeriksaan resistensi insulin dengan metodehomeostasis model assessment of insulin resistance index (HOMA-IR) pada 54 anak obes berusia 10-14 tahun.Hubungan antara IMT dan HOMA-IR dianalisis dengan uji korelasi Pearson.Hasil. Rerata IMT semua subjek 31,8 dan rerata HOMA-IR dari subjek 4,0. Uji korelasi Pearson memberikanhasil p=0,014; r=0,298.Kesimpulan.Tidak terdapat hubungan antara indeks masa tubuh dengan resistensi insulin pada anak obes.
Latar belakang.Insiden dan angka kematian tetanus anak masih cukup tinggi di Indonesia. Di Bagian Ilmu Kesehatan Anak RSCM Jakarta, dari tahun 1990 sampai 1993 dirawat rata-rata 20,3 kasus tetanus ...anak per tahun dengan case fatality rate(CFR) berkisar antara 12,9 sampai 27,4%. Laporan penelitian di Manado belum ada, maka diperlukan mengetahui profil penyakit tetanus anak yang dirawat di RS Prof. Dr. R.D. Kandou, Manado.Tujuan. Mengetahui profil tetanus pada anak yang dirawat di RSUP Prof. Dr. R.D. Kandou ManadoMetode. Reviewretrospektif anak yang didiagnosis tetanus di RS Prof. Dr. R.D. Kandou Manado dari Januari 2002-Januari 2012. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif.Hasil. Empat puluh anak tetanus berusia 1-11 tahun, 65% kasus laki-laki, dengan fokus infeksi terbanyak otitis media 21 (52,5%). Sebagian besar (45%) belum pernah mendapat imunisasi dasar terhadap tetanus. Masa inkubasi berkisar dari 5 hari sampai 1 bulan, dengan period of onsetterpendek 10 jam. Komplikasi terbanyak bronkopneumonia (19 pasien) dan 6 pasien meninggal.Period of onsettetanus anak yang meninggal lebih singkat secara bermakna dibandingkan yang hidup (1,12 vs 3,32 hari (p=0,004)), demikian pula antara tetanus berat dan ringan sedang (1,85 vs 3,85 (p=0,02)). Lama perawatan rata-rata yang diberi antitoksin tetagam(human antitetanus serum)tidak berbeda bermakna dibandingkan yang diberi ATS yaitu 11,5 vs 14,3 hari (p=0,440). Kesimpulan. Pasien tetanus yang dirawat inap di RS Prof. Dr. R.D Kandou sejak 2002-2012 terbanyak adalah tetanus sedang. Sebagian besar pasien belum pernah diimunisasi terhadap tetanus. Period of onsetpasien tetanus yang meninggal ataupun tetanus berat lebih singkat dibandingkan yang hidup ataupun tetanus ringan sedang. Se revisan los aspectos básicos del metabolismo de la creatina/creatinina y la íntima relación entre la creatinina y la masa muscular, lo que la convierte en un marcador bioquímico de ésta. Se hace énfasis en la utilidad pronóstica actual, tanto de la baja excreción urinaria de creatinina como de los niveles bajos de creatinina sérica, en diferentes contextos clínicos en los que la sarcopenia probablemente desempeña un papel importante en la morbilidad y mortalidad.
Modified acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (MASA) were prepared by grafting with maleic anhydride and optimization was carried out. The compatibilizer with four parts of ASA-g-MA in 10 parts of ...acrylonitrile-styrene-acrylate (ASA) was found effective in improving the interface. On that basis, the different compositions of blends of polycarbonate (PC)/MASA terpolymer were compounded using a twin screw extruder. The blends granules were then injection molded into a standard tensile specimens for mechanical, dynamic mechanical, and morphology characterization. The mechanical properties, such as, tensile behavior of melt mixed PC/modified ASA terpolymer blends at MASA content up to 52 vol % were evaluated. The tensile strength decreased with MASA concentration has been analyzed on the basis of interphase adhesion. Impact strength and elongation were increased with increase in ASA concentration up to 10 phr. Tensile modulus shows decrease with addition of ASA. Predictive models have been used to explain the tensile strength and modulus properties. The tensile modulus shows slightly negative deviation from rule of mixture indicating reduction in stiffness. Dynamic mechanical analysis shows evidence of partial miscibility. Morphology observations were also carried out to further insight into the system.
Resumen Introducción: La obesidad es un padecimiento crónico complejo de etiología multifactorial, se ha descrito su relación con el estrés oxidativo. Objetivo: Determinar la relación entre el estado ...nutricional y algunos marcadores de estrés oxidativo de una población trabajadora del sector agrícola, del municipio habanero Arroyo Naranjo, en 2019. Métodos: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal. Se obtuvo una muestra de 68 trabajadores mediante la aplicación de un muestreo al azar, los cuales fueron clasificados según el índice de masa corporal en tres grupos: normopeso, sobrepeso y obesos. Se estudió la edad, sexo, evaluación nutricional por índice de masa corporal e índice cintura/cadera y marcadores de daño oxidativo. Resultados: Se observó un predominio del sobrepeso global con una mayor prevalencia de la obesidad central en ambos sexos. Los obesos, con relación al resto del grupo, presentaron promedios superiores de colesterol, triglicéridos y lipoproteínas de alta, baja y de muy baja densidad, así como cifras de triglicéridos por encima de los valores de referencia. Los promedios de malondialdehido, de los productos avanzados de la oxidación de proteínas y de peróxido totales estuvieron por encima de los valores de referencia en los tres grupos. Conclusiones: Las concentraciones plasmáticas promedio de los marcadores de estrés oxidativo estudiados estuvieron aumentadas, sin diferencias significativas entre los sujetos normopeso, sobrepeso y obesos con respecto a estas variables. Abstract Introduction: Obesity is a complex chronic condition of multifactorial etiology, whose relationship with oxidative stress has been described. Objective: To determine the relationship between nutritional status and some oxidative stress markers in a working population from the agricultural sector, in the Havana municipality of Arroyo Naranjo, in 2019. Methods: A descriptive and cross-sectional study was carried out with a sample of 68 workers obtained by random sampling and classified, according to body mass index, in three groups: normal weight, overweight and obese. Age, sex, nutritional evaluation by body mass index and waist/hip index, as well as oxidative damage markers were studied. Results: A predominance of global overweight was observed, with a higher prevalence of central obesity in both sexes. The obese, compared to the rest of the group, had higher average values for cholesterol, triglycerides and high, low and very low density lipoproteins, as well as triglyceride figures above the reference values. The average values of malondialdehyde, advanced products of protein oxidation and total peroxide were above reference values in all three groups. Conclusions: The average plasma concentrations of the studied oxidative stress markers had increased, with no significant differences between normal weight, overweight and obese subjects with respect to these variables.

Resumen Introducción. La composición corporal ha demostrado ser un importante indicador de salud. Objetivo. Analizar la Composición corporal en escolares de 13 a 14 años, pertenecientes a la zona ...centro y sur oriente del Tolima. Materiales y métodos. Participaron 335 estudiantes (Hombres 49,9%; 50,1% mujeres) con rango de edad 13-14 años. Se evaluó IMC, perímetro de cintura y porcentaje de grasa. Los instrumentos fueron: báscula, tallímetro y cinta métrica. Resultados. Se encontraron diferencias de género en las variables estudiadas, con mayor IMC y porcentaje graso entre las mujeres (20,4kg/m2 vs. 19,0kg/m2 y 26,2% vs. 17,6%, respectivamente); sin embargo, el perímetro de cintura fue similar en los hombres y mujeres (68,2 cm vs 68,1cm). En ambos sexos, la edad se asoció con aumentos del IMC (p<0,05) y con el porcentaje graso entre las mujeres (p<0,05), al contrario de lo que ocurrió en los hombres, donde la edad se asoció inversamente con la grasa corporal (p<0,05) y el IMC. Conclusiones. Se deben generar estrategias orientadas a cambiar hábitos alimenticios y promover la actividad física escolar. Palabras clave: índice de masa corporal; adiposidad; género; cintura. Abstract Introduction. Body composition has been an important health indicator. Objective. Analyze body composition in schoolchildren aged 13 to 14, belonging to the central and southern area of Tolima. Materials and methods. 335 students participated (Men 49.9%; 50.1% women) with age range 13-14 years. BMI, waist circumference and fat percentage were evaluated. The instruments were: scale, height meter and measuring tape. Results. Gender differences were found in the variables studied, with higher BMI and fat percentage among women (20.4 kg / m2 vs. 19.0 kg / m2 and 26.2% vs. 17.6%, respectively); however, the waist circumference was similar in men and women (68.2 cm vs 68.1 cm). In both sexes, age was associated with increases in BMI (p <0.05) and with the fat percentage among women (p <0.05), contrary to what happened in men, where age was associated inversely with body fat (p <0.05) and BMI. Introduction: cardiovascular diseases are the first cause of death in Cuba; as a result, the identification of cardiovascular risks from early ages allows the implementation of health promotion and ...prevention strategies to reduce their impact in the future Objective: to identify the cardiovascular risk in medical students in Puerto Padre Municipality, Las Tunas province. Methods: an observational, descriptive and cross-sectional study was conducted. The target group included 545 medical students, 237 of whom were selected by means of a simple random sample. The body mass index and waist-hip ratio were studied. Descriptive statistics was applied. Results: the predominant age group was 18-21 years old (50,2 %). The 51,47 % of the students presented a high waist-hip ratio, 54,02 % a high abdominal circumference, 52,74 % a high body mass index, and in all groups 35,44 % presented blood pressure figures lower than 120/80 mmHg; 39 % had a cardiovascular risk. Conclusions: low percentages of cardiovascular risk were identified in medical students from Puerto Padre Municipality, Las Tunas province, determined by high values of waist-hip index, body mass index and abdominal circumference.
To investigate the association between sarcopenia and different anthropometric indicators, and identify the best indicator to discriminate sarcopenia in community-dwelling older adult women.
Data ...from 173 older adult women (≥60 years), living in Lafaiete Coutinho, a small-sized city in northeastern Brazil, were analyzed. Sarcopenia was defined based on the European consensus on definition and diagnosis using three components: muscle mass, muscle strength and performance. The association between sarcopenia and anthropometric indicators (body mass index, corrected arm muscle area and calf perimeter) was tested using the binary logistic regression technique.
The adjusted regression model indicated that all anthropometric indicators were inversely associated with sarcopenia, and an increase by one unit in body mass index, corrected arm muscle area or calf circumference decreased the probability of sarcopenia in older adult women by approximately 85%, 16% and 72%, respectively.
All the studied anthropometric indicators can be used as discriminators of sarcopenia in an older adult women population. To this end body mass index exhibited better sensitivity and calf circumference better specificity. The results of the study may improve nursing practice and that of other healthcare professionals, enabling sarcopenia screening in older adult women from simple and low-cost anthropometric indicators.
Investigar la asociación entre sarcopenia y diferentes indicadores antropométricos, y evaluar qué indicador discrimina mejor sarcopenia en mujeres ancianas residentes en la comunidad.
Fueron analizados datos de 173 mujeres ancianas (≥60 años), residentes en Lafaiete Coutinho, una pequeña ciudad en el noreste de Brasil. La sarcopenia se definió con base en el consenso europeo sobre definición y diagnóstico mediante 3 componentes: masa muscular, fuerza muscular y rendimiento. La asociación entre sarcopenia y los indicadores antropométricos (índice de masa corporal, área muscular del brazo corregida y perímetro de la pantorrilla) fue testada por medio de la técnica de regresión logística binaria.
El modelo de regresión ajustado indicó que todos los indicadores antropométricos fueron inversamente asociados a la sarcopenia, siendo que el aumento en una unidad en el índice de masa corporal, área muscular del brazo corregida o perímetro de la pantorrilla disminuyó en aproximadamente un 85, un 16 y un 72%, respectivamente, la probabilidad de sarcopenia en las mujeres ancianas.
Los indicadores antropométricos estudiados pueden utilizarse como discriminadores de sarcopenia en una población de mujeres ancianas. El índice de masa corporal mostró una mejor sensibilidad y el perímetro de la pantorrilla, una mayor especificidad con este fin. Los resultados del estudio pueden mejorar la práctica enfermera y de otros profesionales de la salud, permitiendo la detección de.sarcopenia en mujeres ancianas a partir de indicadores antropométricos simples y de bajo costo.
