The goals of this study is to describe the development of students’ competence in research proposal writing of Indonesian language subject using mind maps strategy. The study was conducted in three ...cycles. The result of the study the learning strategy can increase the students’ achievement. In the first cycle it had got 9.5% to be 50% in the second cycle at the last cycle get 100%. In the classical it got the standart of learning at SMAN 3 Mataram.
•We investigated two instructional mind map approaches to support text-based learning.•Using mind mapping as a meta-learning strategy stimulates generative strategy use.•Greatest gain and sustainment ...was found when working with researcher-provided maps.•No significant free recall evolution was found for experimental condition students.•The importance of systematic practice in text-learning strategies is stressed.
This study examined the effectiveness of two instructional approaches of mind mapping used as a meta-learning strategy to stimulate fifth- and sixth-graders’ text-learning strategies and recall performance. Thirty-five fifth- and sixth-grade teachers and 644 students from 17 different elementary schools participated. A randomized quasi-experimental repeated measures design was set up with two experimental conditions and one control condition. Students in the experimental conditions received a 10-week teacher-delivered instructional treatment, working with either researcher-provided or student-generated mind maps. Multilevel piecewise growth analysis was used to examine the evolution in students’ cognitive and metacognitive text-learning strategies, and free recall performance. Results show the greatest gains from pre- to posttest and sustained effects from post- to retention test in observable cognitive text-learning strategy use for students in the condition with researcher-provided mind maps. These findings have direct implications for both research and practice. Challenges and facilitating factors for school-based intervention research are discussed.
In this design-based study first-year pre-service teachers co-constructed video-based mind maps as part of a pedagogy course. The students produced self-made group videos and uploaded them to a joint ...platform before working with peers' group videos in a mind map structure. The course topic was learning sciences research, and the goal was to create a shared understanding about the course content before an upcoming exam. The study has been grounded in a sociocultural perspective on human activity and learning, employing interaction analysis to investigate how digital tools can support students' collaborative reading and understanding of key concepts in academic literature. By scrutinising video recordings of both in-room and on-screen activities, we analyse how five groups of pre-service teachers collaborated during the co-construction of videos, and how they interacted with fellow students' group videos. Findings demonstrate that the students interacted intently with each other's work and constituted the mind map as a point of convergence and resource for meaning making and collaboration within the student class community. The study shows that video-based mind maps can provide material and social structures for collaboration and that fellow students' group videos formed knowledge objects that generated in-depth conversations among peers about the subject matter.
•A mechanism of effective teaching for developing basketball skills is proposed.•The mechanism for skillful movers relies on critical thinking in practicing motor skills.•The CL method for peer ...interaction should be encouraged through group discussions.•Use of the CM method for accessing learners’ conceptualizations should be encouraged.•The CL and CM methods explain the full cognitive process in learning motor skills.
Helping students develop their critical thinking potential may assist them in effectively developing motor skills. This study examined the effects of cooperative learning and concept-mapping interventions on students' critical thinking and skill learning during physical education. 170 fifth-grade students were assigned to a cooperative learning condition (n=54), a concept-mapping condition (n=57), and a control condition (n=59). The students were subsequently assessed in terms of their basketball skills and critical thinking skills. The results showed greater improvements of basketball skills improvements and critical thinking skills among the students in the cooperative learning condition and the concept-mapping condition than among those in the control condition. The results indicated that peer-cooperation and concept-mapping mediated the learning of motor skills and offered a learning environment that assisted critical thinking in the context of physical education.
The mind map is a tool of planning and information note of unlinearformed, which favors the memorization, creativity, ideas organization and enable the qualitative data analysis. The objective of ...this research was identify which is the overview of articles about mind maps published on Scientific Periodicals Eletronic Library (SPELL) and Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). It was used the Spell and SciELO data base for the survey of articles containing on yours abstracts or on yours titles, the words “mind maps”. The search realized on November of 2018, identified 19 articles, 9 articles was found in Spell database and 10 articles in SciELO database. The results of this research have evidenced that the theme researched is emergingand the reflections realized made possible to initiates a debate concerningBrazilian scientific production about mind maps, seeing the importation and relevance of thematic.
