The Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has probably been the most important disease to emerge in the 21st century. This viral zoonotic disease has been a significant cause ...of morbidity and mortality worldwide, but with a higher impact in low- and middle-income countries of Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Up to December 4, 2022, more than 645,195,564 cases had been reported globally, with 6,640,845 deaths, and more than 13,054,668,703 doses of a vaccine had been given. Research has been of the utmost importance in the COVID-19 crisis: a great deal of knowledge was gathered between December 2019 and December 2022. Appropriate evidence-based management and the development of safe and effective vaccines have been key to controlling the virus. This book presents a selection of the last two years’ learning from research and clinical practice concerning SARS-CoV-2/COVID-19.
Since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, Juli Zeh, reacting to government action, has warned against allegedly excessive health protection that leads to restrictions on individual freedoms. Her ...statements about the rule of law in the pandemic, often with reference to Corpus Delicti (2009), move me to question aspects of this novel, which the author decidedly describes as political. We will therefore first examine how Zeh seeks to steer a pandemic re-reading of Corpus Delicti in order to then address the threat to the rule of law feared by the writer and lawyer. Zeh's alarmist statements are contrasted with the statements of two leading constitutional lawyers, Jens Kersten (Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich) and Stephan Rixen (University of Cologne).
Los vencedores (1908), la primera novela de la serie titulada Las luchas de nuestros días de Manuel Ciges Aparicio, es una novela reportaje pionera que había sido condenada al olvido. Se trata de una ...novela social que busca una relación muy directa con la realidad para denunciar el régimen caciquil de principios del siglo XX en España. En este artículo nos proponemos analizar los mecanismos mediante los cuales el dispositivo narrativo desarrolla esta denuncia y permite acceder a las claves estructuradoras de ese régimen. El diálogo con la discusión elaborada por György Lukács sobre la novela reportaje en su artículo de 1932 «¿Reportaje o configuración? Observaciones críticas con ocasión de la novela de Ottwalt» nos permitirá pensar los límites y tensiones de la confluencia entre el género narrativo y el periodístico.
Diese Studie analysiert Film- und Comic-Adaptionen, die auf Franz Kafkas Roman Das Das Schloß basieren. Die Untersuchung, die sich mit drei als distinkt wahrgenommenen Medien befasst (Text, Film, ...Comic), benutzt einen intermedialen Ansatz, der auf Verknüpfungen zwischen ihnen bedacht ist, ohne dabei die medienspezifischen Eigenschaften der diskutierten Werke außer Acht zu lassen. Formale Elemente des Romans, und allen voran das auffällige Auftreten des Präfixes „vor“, stehen zunächst im Zentrum der Überlegungen, während anschließend Türen und Fenster in den Adaptionen in den Fokus rücken. Diese Motive werden als visuelle Schwellenmotive markiert und als solche in Zusammenhang mit ihrem textlichen Gegenstück, die „vor“-Wörter im Roman, untersucht.
El presente artículo propone un análisis, en clave didáctica, de El Buscón en las Indias (2019), una novela gráfica que supone la continuación de la novela picaresca Historia de la vida del Buscón ...llamado don Pablos, publicada por Quevedo en 1626. La obra presenta una interesante relación con su hipotexto literario, gracias a la combinación de elementos picarescos y barrocos en su narrativa visual. Por un lado, los personajes y la trama reflejan los tópicos de la novela picaresca, como la figura del pícaro, la lucha por sobrevivir en una sociedad corrupta y las numerosas aventuras y desventuras que experimenta el protagonista. Por otro lado, el estilo visual de la obra presenta influencias del Barroco en lo relativo a la representación de personajes grotescos y la abundancia de detalles y ornamentación.

The book discusses the novels of Katja Kettu, Sofi Oksanen, Elina Hirvonen and Emmi Itäranta, where historical and collective ...traumas meet stories of personal vulnerability. Traumatic Memory in Contemporary Prose Fiction addresses war traumas and marks left by terrorism, colonialism, domestic violence and sexual violence, and analyses the aspects of ecological trauma and future threats. The study combines the latest discussions on cultural memory studies and trauma theory with critical perspectives offered by feminist criticism and research in transnationalism. It illustrates how cultural narratives, literary conventions and aesthetic strategies regulate and produce traumatic experiences. Traumatic memory is not only a phenomenon dealing with the past, but it involves a wide range of individual, cultural, ecological, political and economic dimensions.
Der Schriftsteller Aleksandr Iličevskij wurde in Baku geboren, wuchs nahe Moskau auf, zog in die USA und wieder zurück nach Russland. Seit 2013 lebt er in Israel. Tagsüber spricht er Hebräisch, ...abends schreibt er Russisch. Seine Bücher erscheinen in Russland, einige auch in Übersetzung in Deutschland und Frankreich, so der enzyklopädische Gegenwartsroman Der Perser. Übersetzungen ins Hebräische gibt es nicht, die Leserschaft in Israel ist klein. Leichtsinn und ein Brodskij-Gedicht machten aus dem Physiker einen Schriftsteller. Heute verdient er seinen Lebensunterhalt als Radiologe. Damit er ins Hebräische wechselt, muss noch einmal eine Quadratwurzel am Himmel erscheinen.
Zusammenfassung. Der systemische Lupus erythematodes ist eine Autoimmunerkrankung mit facettenreichem Organbefall. Hydroxychloroquin ist einer der wichtigsten Bestandteile der Therapie und soll, wenn ...immer möglich, eingesetzt werden. Belimumab ist eine inzwischen gut etablierte Add-on-Therapie in erster Linie zur Behandlung des Gelenk- und Hautbefalls sowie der Fatigue. Es wurde aber auch gezeigt, dass es die Schubrate sowie den Steroidgebrauch verringert. Eine weitere Therapiemöglichkeit mit dem Interferon Anifrolumab scheint sich aufzutun. Gesondert zu betrachten ist die Therapie bei Nierenbefall. Zur Induktions- und Erhaltungstherapie ist Mycophenolat-Mofetil gut etabliert.
