In this paper, we introduce patchwork constructions for multivariate quasi-copulas. These results appear to be new since the kind of approach has been limited to either copulas or only bivariate ...quasi-copulas so far. It seems that the multivariate case is much more involved, since we are able to prove that some of the known methods of bivariate constructions cannot be extended to higher dimensions. Our main result is to present the necessary and sufficient conditions both on the patch and the values of it for the desired multivariate quasi-copula to exist. We also give all possible solutions.

This service activity aims to provide skills and creative ideas to the community in Rejosari RW 03, Benowo Village, Pakal District, Surabaya, by utilizing patchwork waste into items of economic value ...so that it is expected to be able to produce home industry that can increase family income. This community service activity used the Participatory Action Research (PAR) method. Through the sospeso technique, the remnants of cloth that should be thrown away could be processed into handicrafts that have economic value and become potential for creative industries. The evaluation was carried out during the training process through the involvement and abilities of the participants while post-training through the level of completion of the material that was evaluated by observing and examining the work as well as giving a question-and-answer questionnaire. The results of this service activity provided creative ideas to housewives of Rejosari RW 03 by utilizing patchwork waste into sospeso products that decorated and beautified the appearance of bags, wallets, sandals, and other household items. The brooch could improve the skills of housewives, increase family income and maintain a clean environment, and increase value (product selling value).

•Intrinsic high bending flexible Bi2Te3 thin films are obtained by nanostructuring.•Anisotropy simultaneously tunes the flexibility and thermoelectric performance.•A high power factor ...of ∼ 745 μWm−1K−2 is achieved for n-type Bi2Te3.•A 5-pair flexible device with high stability and flexibility is obtained.
Flexible thermoelectric (TE) technology can convert human-body heat into electricity, showing great promise for powering wearable devices. Achieving simultaneous excellent flexibility and high TE performance is still a big challenge for both inorganic and organic-based flexible TE materials. Here, to overcome this challenge in the well-known Bi2Te3-based materials, we propose an anisotropy engineering strategy triggered by nanostructuring design and excess Te addition. A two-step solution-synthesis method is developed to prepare patchwork-like Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 nanorods, which can be assembled into flexible thin films by the screen-printing and spark-plasma-sintering process. Owing to the weakened anisotropy by nanostructuring, our nanorods-derived Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 thin films exhibit excellent bending flexibility. Further introducing excess Te can optimize the anisotropy as well as the interfacial connecting and oxidation resistance of these thin films. Consequently, a high power factor of ∼ 745 μWm−1K−2 at room temperature can be achieved in the n-type Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 thin film with 10 % excess Te. These n-type thin films are further assembled with p-type legs (Bi0.5Sb1.5Te3 with 4 % excess Te) into a 5-pair TE device with good flexibility and stability, showing a maximum power density of ∼ 6.06 Wm−2 at a temperature difference of ∼ 28.3 K. This work indicates that anisotropy engineering in solution-derived nanostructured thin films can be a facile way to balance the flexibility and TE properties, further advancing flexible TE devices.
"“Driving the winding Big Sur Coast Highway from Los Angeles to San Francisco in the summer of 2002, we observed how different the coniferous trees on one side of the road were from the other: ...inland, the trees stood upright and grew with symmetrical monumentality, while the windswept trees along the coast were bent over, deformed by the salty ocean spray and clinging to the impervious cliffs with their tangles of exposed roots. This landscape of difference symbolised an important concept for us: the seed, or archetypal idea, is the same for both trees, however, the specific conditions under which each seed grows forces them to adapt – the seeds are transfigured by their destined place of growth. Ideas in architecture are like seeds: they exist a priori, they sprout and flourish in different places and unexpected contexts throughout the centuries and, regardless of their innate sameness, achieve different outcomes”. This inquiry into the transformative nature of architectural ideas – that are both autonomous and conditioned by the environment – gives an insight into the way architects work and shows how stand-alone architectural ideas feed projects and break down their “otherness” in respect of South Tyrol, while at the same time making the Alpine landscapes of this area their own. Three projects (Ponte di Ghiaccio Mountain Lodge, Fischer House, and the St. Andrew School Complex) epitomise this ambiguous relationship with the site, tracing a series of architectural references, both modern and historical, to describe how these projects came into being without being specific to the “context”."
Tailored Blanks is the collective for semi-finished sheet products which are characterised by a local variation of the sheet thickness, sheet material, coating or material properties. With these ...adaptions the tailored blanks are optimised for a subsequent forming process or the final application. In principle four different approaches can be distinguished to realise tailored blanks: joining materials with different grade, thickness or coating by a welding process (tailor welded blanks), locally reinforcing the blank by adding a second blank (Patchwork blanks), creating a continuous variation of the sheet thickness via a rolling process (tailor rolled blanks) and adapting the material properties by a local heat treatment (tailor heat treated blanks). The major advantage of products made from tailored blanks in comparison to conventional products is a weight reduction. This paper covers the state of the art in scientific research concerning tailored blanks. The review presents the potentials of the technology and chances for further scientific investigations.
This systematic literature review integrates the Varieties of Institutional Systems (VIS) framework and Patchwork Institutions lens to unpack how institutional heterogeneity in the Middle East and ...North Africa (MENA) impacts the practice of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Our review of 154 articles published between 1995–2017 extracts the variegated nature of institutions in MENA countries and sheds light on how country-specific institutional forces affect CSR. Doing so, we take the first step to move away from a monolithic understanding of the institutional effects on CSR in MENA, acknowledging the role that collective actors play in shaping the institutional realities affecting CSR.
Almost all human and household activities produce waste. The largest source of waste comes from household activities, so waste is an environmental problem that needs attention from all stakeholders. ...The government has issued various regulations to manage waste by applying the 3R (reduce, reuse, and recycle) concept, especially inorganic waste. Based on these problems, a solution is needed to help waste processing at the household level by empowering PKK mothers through increasing knowledge of the use and processing of inorganic waste in the form of plastic and patchwork. Activities are carried out in the form of socialization and demonstration, mentoring, and evaluation. Evaluation is done by distributing questionnaires at the beginning and end of the activity. The general results show an increase in knowledge of the use and processing of plastic and patchwork waste.
The demand for new structural concept design of automotive parts has grown with weight reduction and improvement of crash safety in automotive industry. In this study, the established local patchwork ...hot stamping technology was used in structural design of hot-stamped automotive parts and expected to obtain maximum lightweight efficiency while maintaining crash performance by using local patchwork blanks instead of conventional reinforcement. Firstly, the technical feasibility of this technology was verified in an experimental method, and an optimization method was proposed to determine the optimal position and shape of local patchwork blanks. Then it was used for the improvements of two parts as examples, a top-hat channel created based on a conventional B pillar cross section and a B pillar. Finite element (FE) analysis models of these two parts were established based on the deformation of B pillar during full vehicle side impact and validated through experiments. It was confirmed that both the top-hat channel and the B pillar optimized have the same crashworthiness but became lighter compared to the original parts with reinforcement. Furthermore, the effects of local patchwork blank thickness, material strength and outer thickness on the optimal position and shape of local patchwork blanks and lightweight efficiency were investigated. Finally, the effectiveness of a hot-stamped B pillar with local patchwork blanks was verified through full vehicle side impact simulations. It can be concluded that the established local patchwork hot stamping technology and the proposed optimization method can be used as a dependable tool to design and manufacture hot-stamped parts with local patchwork blanks.
