Using panel data from 2003 to 2016, this paper estimates the green development efficiency of 34 cities in Northeast China based on the SBM-DEA model and determines whether industrial agglomeration ...promotes or impedes green development efficiency. The results show the following: (1) The average green development efficiency of Northeast China exhibits a fluctuant upward trend in 2003–2016, and there are significant spatial differences. (2) During the revitalization period, industrial agglomeration hinders green development efficiency. A U-shaped relationship exists between industrial agglomeration and green development. (3) Economic development level and foreign direct investment are positively related to green development efficiency, while industrial structure, energy consumption structure and environmental regulation are negatively related. Economic development level has the greatest positive influence and environmental regulation the strongest negative influence on green development. Several corresponding policy implications are proposed for promoting green development and revitalization.

When the possibility of a renovation arose, leaders of the Faculty decided to involve the community of the students in order to represent their points of view. The open, secret competition had been launched on 8th September, and by the deadline 30th November fifteen proposals were submitted. Two of the most promising designs were awarded 1st prizes, one got a 2nd prize and two further submissions earned 3rd prize..

Rural settlements are spatial carriers of rural social and economic activities. The optimization of rural settlements is of great significance to comprehensively promote rural revitalization. ...Considering that the optimization of rural settlements is a systematic engineering of the optimal allocation of rural revitalization elements and a social engineering of rural residents’ willingness, this paper explores the optimization of rural settlements based on the elements of rural revitalization and rural residents’ social mobility. After constructing the theoretical framework of the internal relationship among rural revitalization, rural residents’ social mobility and optimization of rural settlements, we evaluate the development vitality of rural settlements from the perspectives of industry, talent, culture, organization and ecology, and measure the network centrality of rural settlements based on rural residents’ social mobility. Moreover, we measure the coordination level of development vitality and network centrality to identify rural settlements’ optimization types. The level of the talent element is the lowest among the five revitalization elements. The rural settlements with high development vitality and network centrality are mainly distributed around the central town and near the traffic trunk lines. The rural settlements within the boundary of the expansion of urban construction land are classified as suburban integration, and the rural settlements with the characteristics of cultural relics or ethnic minorities are determined as characteristic protection. The remaining rural settlements are classified into three types (i.e., agglomeration and upgrading (high coordination), maintaining status quo (basic coordination), relocation and evacuation (endangered coordination)) according to the coordination level. Relocation and evacuation rural settlements are not suitable for villagers’ production and living and we encourage these villagers migrate to rural settlements that are more strongly connected in the residents’ social mobility network. Based on these findings, this paper provides a decision-making basis for rural planning and proposes an analytical framework for the optimization of rural settlements.
Increasing attention has been given to historically and culturally significant traditional villages in China in the past five years. Two key themes have been protection and usage. Rural tourism has ...been recognized as a key approach to rural development and poverty alleviation. Through a systematic knowledge review, this paper proposes an integrative and sustainable Rural Tourism-based Traditional Village Revitalization model to better understand the relationship between rural tourism and village revitalization. Integrated Rural Tourism and Sustainable Livelihood theory and ideology are integrated in this model. A case study of the village of Yuanjia reveals that the model's three levels (material, social and spiritual) are effective pathways for successful village revitalization. Village leader-led or elite-led development realizes endogenous and bottom-up development rather than a top-down arrangement. Farmer Cooperative is a relatively equitable means of benefit distribution and community participation in China.

This study examines the revitalization of religious moderation-based development as a novel approach to rehabilitation within the Penitentiary. Significantly, the formulation of development based on ...religious moderation is proposed as the latest solution for the rejuvenation and refreshment of rehabilitation programs for drug offenders in Class II A Penitentiary Institution of Watampone. This research falls under the category of exploration and adopts the Participatory Action Research approach, normative juridical approach, empirical juridical approach, and normative theological approach. The findings of the study demonstrate that the revitalization of religious moderation-based development emphasizes indicators of national commitment, such as instilling patriotism, accommodating local culture by revitalizing the concept of self, understanding oneself as the best community (khairu ummah) who, in substance, utilizes sound reasoning as the earth's caretaker or as a representative of God, knowledgeable of good and evil, and reflecting religious moderation through adherence to the constitution and compliance with legislation. This includes refraining from consuming and misusing narcotics, in accordance with the mandate of Law No. 35 of 2009 concerning narcotics.
The post-communist period has strongly impacted the former communist Romania's urban industrial areas. Recent debates regarding urban industrial towns in Central and Eastern Europe reveal that their ...governance has been prone to neglect and that a lack of jobs has led to depopulation, seasonal migration, and a change in local labour skills. Drawing on 20 in-depth interviews with community leaders in Moldova Nouă, Romania, this study presents divergent narratives on the development of the local economy around the reopening of a copper mine and tourism. The findings suggest that, given the town's excellent position on the River Danube and its proximity to the Danube Gorges, tourism is perceived as a long-term solution. However, to date, tourism has not proved to be a major economic engine for the local population but could be of great interest for further local development. On the other hand, although copper mining proved polluting in communist times, some respondents prefer reopening the mines to have better paid jobs.

Rural revitalization is not only a strategy to promote sustainable rural development in developing countries, but also an inevitable trend towards global urbanization. This study used multi-source ...data, such as remote sensing images, building data, official websites and field survey, to investigate the morphological and social evolution of rural communities from the perspective of touristification and to analyze their drivers. The results showed that from 1988 to 2016, the selected sample case (Jinshitan scenic area, a tourist location situated in the Liaodong Peninsula in China) experienced continuous increases in the average weighted building height, building volume and floor area ratio; the proportion of non-agricultural employment increased by 99.57%; and tourism has become the leading industry in the research site, with a tenfold value of agricultural output value during touristification. These data lend support to that rural revitalization strategy is beneficial to non-urban communities in terms of their economic development and growth in China. Findings provided managerial implications suggesting the local government should implement tourism-related development projects to enhance rural tourism activities to develop the local economy and increase employment.
