Abstract
Folk art revivals were incubators for modernist movements in painting, sculpture, architecture, applied arts, and performing arts. The upsurge of national sentiment in late Imperial Russia ...and official economic support of handicraft industries (known as kustar') promoted the marketing of wood crafts and textiles made at Abramtsevo, Talashkino, and other centers in western Russia and Ukraine. Parallel developments drew upon both folk traditions and patriotic ideals in the central and eastern European countries that had suffered territorial encroachments by Russia, Prussia, and the Austro-Hungarian Empire. Artists' groups and art colonies showed special respect for regional landscapes, peasant communities, and local artistic traditions. Their activities reflected nationalist ideologies, as well as practical, economic, and philanthropic concerns. The variety of circumstances and motivations sheds light on the phenomena of art colonies, new valuations of applied art forms, and the enduring importance of education in traditional crafts.

•We examine the structural soundness and performance of the timber floor structures.•Resistance drilling metod is usefull to estimate the depth of wood decay.•None of NDT techniques provides complete ...data.•It is recommended to use and combine different NDT methods for in situ testing.
Historical structures represent part of the cultural heritage of every nation and societies pay considerable attention to their preservation and maintenance. In historical structures, it is essential to preserve the original structure to the greatest degree possible. It is therefore of great importance to adopt structural health monitoring techniques to assess the remaining load-bearing capacity of timber structures. The main aim of this study was to examine the structural soundness and performance of the timber floor structures in Skansen Lejonet. Non-destructive testing (NDT) was used to evaluate mechanical properties and the general condition, without interfering with the structural integrity. It has been shown that the general structural condition and performance is good and fulfils the requirements for the intended use of the structure both in the past and at the present time, according to Eurocode standards. To assess the general quality of the timber, stress-wave measurements in combination with resistance drilling and X-ray measurements were applied. The quantitative evaluation of the mechanical properties and the density using stress-wave timing and radiographic measurements provided both good agreement and sufficiently good input for the structural analysis. The accurate use of non-destructive measurements, considering their crucial aspects and limitations, enables reliable results to be obtained, thereby increasing the potential to minimise interventions and prolong the service life of buildings as a part of sustainable development.
W opracowaniu poddano rozważaniu problematykę, posiadających reprezentacje przestrzennie, formy popularyzowania archeologii i jej dorobku.
The purpose of this study is to investigate how the open-air museum of Skansen in Stockholm as venue for celebration of Persian Fire Festival is assessed by the festival's visitors. The study is ...based on a delimited part of a larger online survey with 280 completed questionnaires including both close-ended and open-ended questions, and a qualitative thematic analysis method has been used in this paper. The results show a high level of appreciation of the Skansen venue that gives the visitors positive emotions, meanings, place attachment, place identity and a sense of place. Contributing factors have been the high status of the venue that has given the visitors pride and dignity; security and safety of the venue; size of the venue; and the natural beauty of the venue. The most important disadvantage factor has been the lack of accessibility combined with lack of sufficient public transport. The results have implications for the Swedish society, for the policy makers in Stockholm city and for both the host and the organiser of the festival and gives rise to new debates on immigrants' socio-cultural integration into Swedish society. This paper gives a contribution to existing literature on festival venue and its impact on the visitor's overall assessment of the festival.
