In this article we outline the importance of centering Black women as critical historical actors within social studies curricula and teaching. We explored the ways in which Black women were ...represented throughout 38 secondary lesson plans within the fully online National Women's History Museum and discussed how traditional curricular content and tasks can erase or diminish the power, agency, and nuanced experiences of Black women in the past. We conclude by offering resources to challenge these narratives and to encourage all educators to honor the complexity of all women's lives.
This study is a content analysis of K-12 U.S. history curriculum standards from 50 states regarding curricular re/presentation of Asian Americans. The guiding research questions are as follows: (1) ...What is the frequency of Asian American content covered in K-12 U.S. history standards from 50 states? (2) How do the standards depict Asian Americans in U.S. history? I analyzed U.S. history curriculum standards from all states using AsianCrit as a theoretical lens. The findings reveal that except for Japanese incarceration and anti-Asian immigration laws, Asian Americans are largely invisible in the state standards and, when included, they are primarily depicted as victims of nativist racism with a lack of civic agency as well as new immigrants with little contribution to nation-building. Being the first work to uncover curricular messages about Asian Americans across 50 states' standards, this study presents a necessary empirical basis for disrupting curriculum violence.
Living and learning in the United States in 2023 is different than it was decades ago. The proliferation of mis/disinformation vis-a-vis digital means is causing "truth decay," with an increase in ...disagreement amongst citizens about what is opinion and fact. Such disagreements constrain opportunities for healthy democratic dialogue. To repair and rebuild dialogue, citizens need information literacy. This article draws upon qualitative data from four social studies eleventh grade classrooms, including teacher and student interviews and focus groups, to better understand the contemporary landscape of teaching and learning information literacy in today's digital age. Analysis of findings speak to five interrelated insights from practice within the information literacy teaching and learning landscape of one high school context in the southeast of the United States.
Currently, little research exists on social studies within the context of Norwegian early childhood education and care, and how early childhood teachers work to familiarise children with social ...studies contexts . This article is a scoping literature review offering a preliminary research agenda. Its aim is to explore the ways in which the early childhood teacher can work to ensure young learners’ social studies education with a specific focus on cultural diversity and subsequent educational challenges. The research question guiding the article asks: How does previous educational research show that early childhood teachers can use social studies to address diversity with and amongst children? The analysis uncovers 4 scopes of research across 26 international and national studies. Previous research has contributed with knowledge in the areas of cultural diversity, anti-discrimination, human rights, and community and society as a means to familiarise children with diversity and related matters. Each scope addresses the knowledge status and opportunities for future research within each area. Based on the analysis, the author discusses the critical educational challenge of a paradox in familiarising children with diversity, where the early childhood teacher risks conveying biased information and stereotypical views, and highlighting cultures in discriminatory ways.
Approaching from the perspective of the history and social studies of science, the article analyses some aspects of the early history of Chagas disease, from its discovery through initial research. ...It is our goal to show that historians of science can explore this topic as a way not only of remembering and narrating past events but also of examining the processes through which science is produced. To this end, we present five basic precepts that have guided historical and sociological studies of "science in action": science as a collective endeavor, as a social activity, as a set of practices, as a process that involves controversies, and as a formative process. By examining the topic in the light of these five points, we demonstrate how the history of this successful research tradition can lead us to broader reflections about the complex dynamics interweaving science and society.

Introduction
The study aims to assess the students’ views in the field training about the educational preparation program in social studies at Qatar University. The research is grounded in the adult ...learning theory as it involves the adult learning behaviors toward an educator preparation program.
Methods
Primary quantitative research design is set up in the study to analyze the students’ views. Moreover, a questionnaire is administered to gauge the opinions on six dimensions relevant to the Educational Preparation Programs (EPP). Finally, a descriptive research approach is used where the responses from 239 males and females were both included in the study Male = 41 (17.2%), Female = 198 (82.8%) students teachers are analyzed. The researchers also used interviews with 30 female students to reach their opinion about the efficiency of the teacher preparation program that they studied for 4 years at the university.
Results
According to current study results, the demographic factors do not impact the views of the field-training students in the social studies about the EPP in Qatar University.
Discussion
The results raise the question of a potential that teachers’ self-efficacy and characteristics of EPP should be added in the dimensions for which the students’ views are gauged in future studies.
We examine the promise, usability, and feasibility of an intelligent tutoring system (ITS) to improve the vocabulary and language proficiency in science and social studies of Latinx second grade ...English learners (ELs). Participants were 217 ELs attending English only programs or bilingual programs. Findings from the clustered randomized control trial using a researcher-developed proximal assessment indicated that students who used the ITS significantly improved their vocabulary knowledge of the words taught compared to students in the comparison group (ES = 0.38). Results also indicated that most students enjoyed using the ITS and learning new words. Teachers found the program feasible and beneficial to their students.
This study explored the effects of game simulation and brainstorming pedagogy strategies on students’ learning outcomes. In addition, the study compared the effects of three strategies on students’ ...learning outcomes. This study tested pedagogical strategies for effects on learning outcomes. The quasi-experimental research involved 180 students. The results reliably indicate that a simulation-game pedagogical strategy boosted students’ learning outcomes, while a brainstorming pedagogical strategy was effective on students’ learning outcomes. When equated with brainstorming and the lecture strategies in enhancing students’ learning outcomes, the superiority of the simulation-game pedagogical strategy was also observed. These findings indicate that innovative and student-centred pedagogical strategies such as simulation-game and brainstorming strategies improve students’ learning outcomes. In-service teachers should be appropriately trained through seminars and conferences on modern pedagogical strategies such as brainstorming and simulation games for better Social Studies pedagogical strategies.
