V Sloveniji je vzpostavitev samostojne države pomenila tudi zamenjavo družbenega sistema socializma s kapitalizmom. V članku je predstavljeno spreminjanje vrednotenja teh dveh sistemov na podlagi ...podatkov longitudinalnega raziskovanja slovenskega javnega mnenja (od 1990 do 2013). V analizi so upoštevane splošne ocene o a) socialističnem obdobju nasploh in po časovnem zaporedju, b) kakovosti življenja pred osamosvojitvijo in v samo- stojni državi, c) odnosu do pojmov Evropa, socializem in kapitalizem, ki jih dopolnjujejo stališča respondentov o tem, kako izbrani štirje pojmi (pravičnost, človečnost, neenakost, blagostanje) ustrezajo njihovim predstavam o enem ali drugem sistemu.
The book contributes new insights to the research in the field of anthropology of (post)socialism, culture of consumption, gender and memory. It is based on the testimony of interlocutors who offer ...an insight into the “structure of the feeling” of the socialist era through the practice of consumption, from which on the one hand the complex economic and political dynamics and diverse disciplinary regimes are being reflected and the understanding of power, resistance and emancipation on the other. Author establishes critical distance towards the approach, which discusses socialism as a totalitarianism and shows that socialist policies were not simply dictated from above, but negotiated between the state and its citizens. The female consumer in socialism did not only respond to social barriers and obstacles of history, but she also actively co-created social time. By studying how consumers interpreted and created mutual connections between material objects, moral reputation and (self)respect, the book also shows certain specific elements of Slovenian and Yugoslav development of the European countries after the Second World War.
The authors of the volume ('From May ’68 to November ’89: Transformations of the World, Literature, and Theory') intervene in the study of the student movement’s “rehearsal” for a world revolution ...and its afterlife in the 1980s and 1990s by addressing two hitherto neglected aspects – the literary and the peripheral. They consider the roles played by the (semi-)periphery of the modern world-system, on the one hand, and modernist literature and theory, on the other, in transforming the existing world order in the fields of culture, politics, economy, and everyday life. How were critical theory and neo-avant-garde literature in the world, in Slovenia, and in Yugoslavia intertwined with the student protest that advocated the transformation of the capitalist world-system and its socialist counterpart? The monograph focuses on the processes that connected the events of 1968 and 1989 in the social, literary, and theoretical spheres in the sign of continuity and turning points, and at the same time defined our contemporary world.
This article contradicts Slovenian public opinion that asserts there is no tradition of second-hand clothes stores in Slovenia. It briefly demonstrates that second-hand retail clothing has a long ...history in the country that was interrupted for a few decades following the 1960s. In addition, the article reflects upon the question of why “socialist mentality” or more precisely, a “specifically Slovenian socialist mentality” is publicly perceived as the main reason for the contemporary lack of such a retail sector. According to the author, it is not unimportant that such mentality is most often ascribed to marginal and lower social strata who supposedly link second-hand clothes with poverty, thus sustaining their premodern (“socialist”) notions. However, public perceptions of the modernization process can only primarily hide contemporary social differences.

Proces proti četverici (afera JBTZ) je bil sodni proces in politična afera v Sloveniji na prelomu 80-ih in 90-ih 20. stoletja.
Služba državne varnosti (SDV) in Protiobveščevalna služba Jugoslovanske ljudske armade (KOS) sta aretirali tri novinarje tednika Mladina (Janeza Janšo, Davida Tasića in Francija Zavrla) in zastavnika JLA Ivana Borštnerja zaradi izdaje vojaške skrivnosti.
Zaradi liberalizacije in vseh večjih pritiskov k politični reformi v Sloveniji ter v Socialistični federativni republiki Jugoslaviji se je znotraj Vojnega sveta SFRJ in CK ZKJ izoblikovalo mnenje, da je to protirevolucionarno delovanje. Na 72. seji CK ZKJ so tako govorili o aretacijah problematičnih članov ZSMS. Magnetogram se je pozneje znašel v Janševi posesti - izvirni lastnik magnetograma je bil Jože Smole, kateremu so ukradli magnetogram, ki ga je dobil Igor Bavčar, le-ta pa ga je izročil Janši. Janša je 26. aprila magnetogram izročil Zavrlu, ki je nato postal osnova za članek Noč dolgih nožev v Mladini.
SDV je 27. aprila 1988 opravila tajno preiskavo prostorov podjetja Mikro Ade, pri čemer so odkrili magnetogram in dva lista vojaškega dokumenta (ukaz generalpodpolkovnika Svetozarja Višnjića, poveljnika 9. armade). S tem so pridobili dokaze, zaradi česar so se odločili, da bodo sprožili sodni proces pred vojaškim sodiščem. 30. maja 1988 je bil zadnji sestanek SDV in KOS, kjer so se dogovorili o poteku aretacij in nadaljnjih postopkih; sestanek sta vodila polkovnik Aleksandar Vasiljević (KOS) in pomočnik vodje službe državne varnosti RSNZ Štefan Tepeš.
Janša je bil aretiran 31. maja 1988 zjutraj. Prepeljan je bil na sedež podjetja Mikro Ade, kjer so opravili tokrat javno preiskavo, zbrali obremenilne dokaze in nato Janšo prepeljali na sedež ljubljanske policije. Po uvodnih zaslišanjih so ga prepeljali v zapor na Povšetovi. 1. junija je bil prepeljan v vojašnico na Metelkovi v zapor poveljstva Ljubljanskega armadnega območja. Tu sta postopek prevzela vojaški tožilec Živko Mazić in vojaški preiskovalni sodnik Milan Ranić. Ker mu niso omogočili zastopstva civilnega odvetnika, so mu dodelili vojaškega zagovornika Mihajla Krpana. Borštnerja so aretirali pripadniki KOS-a isti dan, Tasić pa 4. junija pozneje; le Zavrl, urednik Mladine, ni bil zaprt in se je lahko branil s prostosti.
V sklopu protesta proti temu ravnanju je bil 3. junija ustanovljen Odbor za varstvo človekovih pravic, ki je protestiral proti temu procesu, sodbi na vojaškem in ne na civilnem sodišču, pravici do odvetnika,...
30. junija je Živko Mazić vložil obtožnico proti četverici in predlagal pripor do konca sojenja. Konec julija je senat vojaškega sodišča spoznal vse štiri za krive in vsem izrekel zaporno kazen: Borštner 4 leta, Janša in Zavrl 18 mesecev ter Tasić 5 mesecev. Oktobra 1988 je Vrhovno vojaško sodišče JLA potrdilo sodbo ljubljanskega vojaškega sodišča, pri čemer je Tasiću povečalo kazen na 10 mesecev. Zaradi številnih protestov s strani Odbora in množičnih demonstracij so avgusta 1989 pogojno izpustili Janšo, za njim pa še ostale tri.

The JBTZ trial, also known as the Ljubljana trial (Slovene: Ljubljanski proces) or the Trial against the Four (Slovene: Proces proti četverici) was a political trial held in a military court in Slovenia, then part of Yugoslavia in 1988. The defendants, Janez Janša, Ivan Borštner, David Tasić and Franci Zavrl, were sentenced to between six months and four years imprisonment for "betraying military secrets", after being involved in writing and publishing articles critical of the Yugoslav People's Army. The trial sparked great uproar in Slovenia, and was an important event for the organization and development of the democratic opposition in the republic. Vsebina kasete je bila presneta z U-matic kasete na beto kaseto. Ker eden izmed mnogih uporabnikov ni vrnil beta kasete v arhiv, smo jo v arhivu leta 2008 ponovno presneli z izvirnega vira na beto kaseto.
