Education for sustainable development is an evolving concept aimed at providing an understanding of the relationship between sustainable development issues and the development of knowledge, skills, ...perspectives and values, which will enable people of all ages to commit themselves to creating a sustainable future. The aim of the study is the development of a widely applicable model of e-learning, which consists of seven consecutive levels of professional and personal development and is conceptually associated with a self-regulation strategy. The methodological core of such model creation is the theory of niche construction. Its application to the understanding of the systemic educational process allowed the assumption that, under the evolutionary pressure of the educational environment, a person is engaged in self-learning and self-development processes. Thus, needing to adapt to the educational niche’s interaction, the individual affects its development through active inclusion in the training process, showing a personal evolutionary impulse. The system, in turn, affects one’s individual growth through the socialization of his/her personal and professional qualities. The scientific novelty of this article lies in the proposed widely applicable, presumably universal model of distance education, which consists of seven levels of professional development. The results show progress in students’ mastery of skills, which are an integral part of education for sustainable development (ESD), namely, foresight, critical thinking and reflection, systemic thinking, building partnerships, and participating in decision-making. This article also demonstrates the existing functionality of platforms that technologically support the educational process, indicates their strengths and defines areas for further improvement and development within the framework regarding the concept of education for sustainable development. The study outcomes confirm the effectiveness of a universal distance education model for the stable professional growth of tourism and hospitality staff. Thus, it is advisable to implement the model’s conceptual structure into educational programs of modern e-learning systems. Supposed universality of the model opens up the possibility of its use in almost all fields for training personnel.

Continuous learning culture frontlines the purpose into developing such research on learning and skills relevance and the adoption of a learning culture. Ignoring the elements of development and ...skill relevance in the business world, implies a full dependency on robots (which is highly unlikely, still) or a risky ignorance into sustaining a poor business strategy. Based on such business assumptions, the paper is aiming to identify the current perception of leaders towards learning practices and similarly of their direct reports, in understanding the triggering elements for consuming knowledge and maintaining the learning appetite. While the economic landscape is now shifting into developing a green economy, with green skills, this research goes into the understanding of the human behavior and development need, to generate a sustainable business. While development is a continuous act and people dependent, the effects of it are directly impacting the business deliverables. The current paper investigates the learning practices, by running a study within an organization on a large-scale operational team. The method of data collection is a set of interviews with the top management, then a larger qualitative data collection through focus groups and the third approach is deploying a survey with the most tenured employees. By understanding their perspectives and expectations, and compared with historical training attendance records, the authors proposed a set of recommendations towards developing that culture of knowledge that enables growth and in the long term the mobility of other job opportunities within the organization. The results are proposing a slight adjustment towards the learner’s needs, by addressing it with micro topics, bite size learning, for immediate applicability and a better communication strategy for content awareness, given the vast inflow of learning opportunities.

The aim and focus of the early childhood intergenerational sustainable skill café was to highlight the potential of the lost arts and traditions of our cultural heritage. Kuttner (2015, 70, Educating ...for Cultural Citizenship: Reframing the Goals for Art Education. Curriculum Inquiry 45 (1): 69-92) argues for education to provide 'cultural citizenship' which emphasises the importance of sharing knowledge's and traditions. Historically, early childhood has always recognised the importance of crafts and an awareness of a community ethos. Langland (2018, Craft: An Inquiry Into the Origins and True Meaning of Traditional Crafts. New York: W.W Norton and Company) argues for nostalgia or old-fashioned values, with traditional skills to be rekindled and the legacy café offered such opportunity as elderly residents shared their skills, mentoring families reflecting a bi-relational approach. Culture shapes our identity through shared histories and meaning making and at the 'Earth Summit' (UNCED 1992, Rio Declaration on Environment and Development. Agenda 21) it was rightly acknowledged that creativity and crafts are at the heart of cultural sustainability.
