    The religiosity of the Slovenian people in Trst/Trieste, in the second half of the XIX. century, mainly had a traditional foundation, in order to confront liberal views of the Italian ruling party, ... which often fatefully influenced the life of Trst/Trieste citizenry, in the ecclesiastic field as well. This religiosity was closely linked with the endeavour to preserve the Slovenian language, in the Church as well. As it is discernible from the paper, the Trst/Trieste bishops of Slav descent played role in this respect, as they heroically counterred the endeavours of Italian liberal nationalists, though they were not always successful in this struggle...
