  • Characterization of enamelled sheet metals for minimizing warpage due to the enamelling process
    Maček, Andraž, 1994- ...
Enamelling represents a unique surface coating that is extremely resistant to chemical and mechanical damage, while still looking good and being food safe. It is therefore ideal for use in the food ... appliance industry. The process of enamelling requires high temperatures, which in combination with different coefficients of thermal expansion of the base sheet metal and the enamel layer result in a warped enamelled product. In order to avoid warped products, we developed a numerical model to predict the deformations of the enamelled product. The developed numerical model was verified by comparing the simulated displacement field of the oven cavity bottom with a physical oven, whose full-field displacements were measured with a multicamera Digital Image Correlation setup. The results show that the developed numerical model is capable of calculating the actual global displacements of the oven cavity.
